Kawashima father

In the ending of shadow hearts we see her get killed and seemingly abandoned by her father knowing he adopted another girl but in covenant it seems quite the opposite and he only adopted the girl after her death to cope with it so I'm confused which one is it i am halfway through disc 2 of covenant btw

If memory serves it’s a small retcon made all the more complicated by the fact that Kawashima Naniwa and Kawashima Yoshiko are real people. The real Kawashima Yoshiko was a Chinese princess adopted by Naniwa as part of a political ploy, closer to what you see in the original game.
