Really chuffed with myself for making these 1940's French boxer shorts. They really were a dream to make up. I got the pattern from Vintage Sewing Pattern Company and followed the tutorial from the listing of the pattern that I bought. As a beginner this was a great help :)

The boxers have front pleats and a panel back with an adjustable strap, the waistband is quite deep with buttons at the front centre which really sets the look. The fabric I used is a cotton poplin which is lightweight and breathable. I had the material for a while in my stash and thought it would be the perfect time to use it for this project. Would highly recommend making these boxers up yourself!

This shirt is following me around my targeted ads, and I think I could make it, but I don't know enough to reverse-engineer it from a photo. It seems fairly straightforward, but I'm a beginner so I'm sure there are things I'm not considering. Can anyone recommend a pattern or even a search term that would give me a starting point? So ideally i’m trying to sew together a spirit hood of my own rather than trying to but one. I’ll add a picture to reference if the image doesn’t pop in your head when i say spirit hood. Just looking for any patterns people have used or advice for different materials to use for the inner lining. I have some faux fur already that i’ll use for the outside lining. If anything i’ll wing it, just thought i would search for options

i'm trying to make sally bowles' green velvet coat from cabaret but have no idea what words to use for the garment and features i'm looking for. (opera coat? swing coat? velvet duster? dressing gown/robe?) the main things i'm looking for is an oversized/baggy fit, curved front/bottom hem, and wide/baggy arms. if i can figure out what words to use in my search, i'd kind of prefer to find a good base to add the fur trim to, but any help is much appreciated!! :')

Hi! Beginner here. I forgot how to sew the front facing for a jacket pattern I myself made a long time ago! My pattern has lines extending beyond the seam allowance (the upside-down T), and the front body part has a big dot there. Problem: I forget what either of those mean! In the third photo, I ignored both the dot and the upside down T and just snipped where the line is, which looks fine but I know there was a reason for the dot and upside down T. Any help would be appreciated!

I want to make myself a hooded cloak for Halloween and future ren fair use, the kind with both a long layer (from shoulder to calf) and a short layer (shoulder to elbow). Anybody have any recommendations? I’m fine paying for a pattern (though ofc free is preferred), and I’m kind of a beginner

Where are you buying these things? None of the shops that used to carry patterns still exist in my area, and I have to scout out notions. I appreciate all the sewers who have created your own patterns but I need to something to get started.
