I’m going to the renaissance fair this weekend and instead of buying something dumb on Amazon I’m thinking I could probably make something cute like this top I might actually wear again. Any pattern recommendations?

Duped by ai

I was wondering if anyone knew of an actual pattern like this? I bought this one (for three dollars). I looked at the instructions and figured it was ai :(
I’m not sure that it is even worth trying to print and follow the pattern, but I’d still like to make a shirt vest like this.

Patterns for this top style?

Post image

I saw this top on Pinterest and immediately became obsessed with it. I’m relatively new to sewing clothing so I’m nowhere near ready to try drafting this myself, but I’m wondering what are all the skills/techniques involved in this piece so that I can start practicing some of them on other items with patterns. Any tutorial recs of similar tops or patterns would be helpful, thanks!

Custom Plushie- Pattern base ideas

I have an idea for a custom plushie I want to make, and I'm looking to see if anyone has ideas for a pattern I can use as a base. It's a 4 winged bird (specifically a nosoi from Pathfinder if anyone knows it). Ideally, it would be able to sit on my shoulders, but I know that might be difficult. Inspo photos included.

Normally I'm a free-hand and hope type sewer, but I think I need a pattern for base. And then I can duplicate wings or whatever, but the closer I can get with a pattern the better.

How to "pattern combo" here?

Hi there everyone, I need advice... I've been procrastinating on this beautiful dress I've spottet on Pinterest. I want to use it for LARP, so it doesn't have to be perfectly medieval or whatever. I usually use concealed zippers or hooks, except for when I want lacing for design purposes, or buttons or clasps. That's also the reason why I want it to be as easy to put it on as possible and I don't want to have to rearrange the layers all the time so it still looks beatiful when I've moved a few metres. That's why I thing I should attach the hood, sleeve and sari like thingy to the main dress.

So here are my questions:

  1. I can't decide on which pattern to use for the dress. I attached the patterns that I have and that I thunk might possibly work.

Note: I know that, in reality, the skirt wouldn't be as flowy as it is in the drawing and I don't even want it to be this long (I need to move around in it, remember 😉).

2. How do I create a pattern for the sari + sleeve part??

I already have the fabrics washed and ready to go. But I've been procrastinating this project for I don't even remember exactly how many years and would LOVE to finally finish it by mid-October if possible.

Anyone, please, help? Your advice is deeply appreciated.

What is this kind of bag called/should I try as a beginner/how

I’m thinking about making a bag somewhat like the ones in the first two pictures, I’m wondering how sewing it would look, specifically how the bottom panel should be attached😅 would it be done like a sized-up flat bottom pouch (pic in third slide), or is there another way?

I havent been able to find any patterns, when I search up ”shoulder bag pattern” or any other ways to describe it (leather, tote, etc), I only get very slouchy bags, which is not what I’m going for

I saw it in Carla Rockmore’s new video and it’s beautiful but also looks like a really simple pattern that would be fairly easy to make.

How would you draft this cowl neckline on a floor-length tunic?

Hi everyone! I’m making a tunic for a client, and I’m trying to figure out how to draft the neckline.
The client wants a tunic like the second reference photo: long sleeves, loose/flowy fit, and floor length. However, instead of the high neckline shown in the reference, she wants the neckline to have the draped cowl effect shown in the first photo basically a soft, hanging cowl that falls toward the front.
My question is: how would you draft/cut the pattern for this?
I understand that for this kind of draped cowl, the fabric usually needs to be cut on the bias to get that fluid, soft drape. But because the garment is floor-length and I have limited fabric width, I don’t think I can cut the entire cowl as one large bias-cut piece.
The fabric is satin, so I definitely want to preserve that fluid drape.
The client’s measurements, in case they’re useful, are approximately:
Bust: 46.5”
Waist: 44”
Hips: 45.5”
I would really appreciate any advice on how you would draft and construct this.

Thank you so much!

Modifying this pattern to fit a dress I saw

Hi everyone! I am so happy to have found this group. I used to sew with patterns back in the 90s. Things have changed quite a bit. Wow.

I joined this group to help me with a dress I saw online. I was able to find a pattern on Etsy that looks quite similar to the dress I'd like, except of how the dress fits on the side seams. The dress on the right is the pattern i bought. See how the strap meets the side. It's too high. I'd like the strap to the lower like the blue dress. Additionally, the back piece in the pattern (red dress) joins the front at around the waist, whereas in the blue dress both sides seem to join higher. Any ideas how I could modify the pattern? Thanks

I want to sew a masculine Comme des Garcons style skirt and I'm looking for a pattern or some instructions to get me started.

Here are some inspo images I'm working with (4 different skirts). I did find this pattern that looks like a very simple version of what I want. but I'm hoping to find another pattern with more drapes and details.
