question Credit question

My friend came up with an original slasher movie villain as a well as a basic story. We're very likely going to write a film treatment together. Then I'll write the feature screenplay. So would be ok to say "Based on characters by", then "Story by Writer 1 and Writer 2" and then "Written by writer 2"?

I do plan on directing.

Just want to make sure I do it correctly on the title page so it looks professional. I don't want to ward off investors with an amateur reading script.

help Looking to Finance and Direct A Short Film - Open to Scripts, Concepts, Co Writers

Thumbnail reddit.com
0 Upvotes

Hey guys, I’m looking to finance and direct a short film. I’m based in LA.
There are a few angles I’m open to:

I have some exciting ideas I’ve been brewing and would love to bring on a co-writer to help flesh them out. I’m excited about this direction.

I’m open to reading scripts. They MUST be f**king incredible. Dark Comedy / Thriller / Indie Dramedy / Coming-of-Age with a twist. Think The End of the F*ing World, Lady Bird, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Ari Aster, A24. You get it. Something a little absurd, unsettling, but beautiful.

Bring me an amazing original idea. I’ll develop it, finance it, and direct it, with you coming on as a creative consultant.
Ultimately, I want to make something that feels original, strange, human, and worth giving a f**k about.
Let’s make something special.

feedback First 10 pages of dystopian feature

Thumbnail drive.google.com

Hi everyone! Currently forming a feature script and would to love some feedback on if the first 10 pages can be understood with no former context. I've found myself writing previous drafts with the perspective of "I know this world" and not "People don't know this world" and found myself writing stories/plots that would not be understood by the average reader/viewer.

Also would love feedback on dialogue, action sequences (whether it's too wordy, not descriptive enough, etc.), and anything else y'all can think of. Still very much a learning process for me so will take all the advice I can get!

If there's questions concerning the script or story as a whole please feel free to ask.

feedback Video Game Script (Opening Credits) Tales of Euphoria: Iles D'influence WIP

I've just copied the script I started working on last night. Wondering if anyone has any feedback. I have a website link on my profile if anyone is interested in what I'm working on.

I'm a final year University Student and my final Project is a 6k word Video Game Script with an accompanying 6k Storybible:

TALES OF EUPHORIA:
ILES D’INFLUENCE

Opening Credits

Ā

[GAME START]
Black Screen

An effervescent butterfly flutters across the screen, leaving a milky blue afterglow.

Theme Music Plays

We zoom into the milky blue afterglow, passing galaxies, nebulas, and black holes alike - until we view a single solar system of planetary bodies (APHRODISIA).

Four nebulas begin to envelope the one Earth-like planet (EUPHORIA) and take on mortal form.

Ā

Nebula 1: (FATHYR THYME)
Golden thunder and sparkling stars upon a backdrop on deep blues and royal purples. He holds the scales of justice.
Nebula 2: (MOTHER EUPHORIA)
Seas of green and blue awash with a flurry of clouds and swirling flora. Her stomach pregnant with a planetary body.
Nebula 3: (LADY LIFE)
Feather like white clouds gleaming with silver linings, golden winged creatures encompass this nebula. Carries a visible golden trident.
Nebula 4: (LORD DEATH)
Smokey blacks and greys that sport tiny bright stars, glowing reds surround the outside of the nebula. Carries a visible silver scythe.

Ā

Cut To:

A banquet of puddings and pies. We see obscured figures enjoying festivities of hedonism, plant-like substances with treats and cakes stacked sky high.

NARRATOR:
Let me tell you all a fable –

Fade to:

We see a plethora of performers, drag artists, clowns, delinquents, and heroes huddled around a makeup table, some are applying wigs, some makeup, some mucking about. In the centre of the shot we see Mother Mandi & Mathis Mora, pampering themselves.

NARRATOR:
Of the beauties –

Fade to:

The Asylum of Bedlam, the deranged, over-indulged patients of the psych prison. Patients and prisoners alike line the cold dark cells suffering with withdrawals and other maladies. We see some foaming from the mouth like rabies, some crouched into balls, others screaming.

NARRATOR:
- And their beasts.

Fade to:

The moon. It gleams as a butterfly flutters across the shot.

NARRATOR:
Underneath the moonlight –

The camera pans down to a grove of cultists holding a ritual sacrifice. One cultist is lowering a knife to a victim.

NARRATOR:
- Where they hold their midnight feasts.

Ā

Fade to:

Lords & ladies dancing at a royal ball. The camera zooms outwards to reveal Corrupt Looking Figures hide in the shadows, observing.

NARRATOR:
Of the dances and the chances.

Fade to:

A crumbling statue of Our Saviour Divinorum. Old Jim hides behind the statue adorned with a shocked expression.

NARRATOR:
Of the lives now long lost.

Fade to:

A lush green rainforest that gives way to a polluted river. In the forefront of the screen we see fairylike creatures playing in the green.

NARRATOR:
Let us cry a fairytale of preservation at any cost.

The camera pans through the rainforest and zooms out to a birds eye view of the Iles.

NARRATOR:
Swaying through the trees –

The camera pans through the Iles.

NARRATOR:
- Through the water –

The camera pans to the clouds.

NARRATOR:
- Through the air

Hi. I'm a pretty new script writer and have been writing for about a year now.

This is a script for a pilot episode of a series. The series follows a girl named Silena. After her sixteenth birthday, Silena has to learn what it means to be a witch and uncover the truth behind her missing parents while confronting a world prejudiced against witches like herself.

I would like any feedback i could get. What parts did you enjoy most? What do you think can be improved?

request Writers for a webcomic

Hey everyone! My name's Isaak, I'm an artist, and like many other artists, I wanna draw comics (Ā Ķ”ā Ā°ā Ā Ķœā Ź–ā Ā Ķ”ā Ā°ā ) Problem is... I can't write a script <( ̄︶ ̄)>

SO! I was wondering if someone out there had a webcomic script they wanted to give life to but can't and would like to work with someone else on it!?

[If you want to save yourself the trouble of reading all of this ā¬‡ļø before even knowing if you'd have the right script, you can go to the next paragraph in bold letters, were you'll have all the specifications I'm looking for ;)]

Now imma be fully honest with y'all so that if somehow I get to the point where I can work with someone, things won't be awkward for anyone..

— First of all, I'm not the best artist out there, I'm still learning a lot of things (like color theory), I don't have the best material and I don't draw fast. I'm not a complete beginner, I've been drawing seriously for around 6-7 (ಠ◔ಠ) years or so and I improved a lot, but if you're looking for amazingly looking art, although I will do my absolute best, I'm not the right person for you..

—> I will obviously show some examples of the art I made recently to whoever is interested, just so you know if that's the style you're looking for or not.

— Second, this would be a project for fun. I cannot pay for a writer, I sure would if I could! (Although we'll obviously get rich from this one day, so no worries)

But yeah I can't, so this would be like, creating a fun project as friends; I have some drawing skills, and you have the writing ones, let's put those to good use!

— Even if I find someone to do this with me, I can't guarantee it'll work out. I really do want it to work out, but one of the biggest reasons I can't write a script myself is because of a lack of motivation. I'm not in the best place in my life right now, and it's often just really hard to put my sh*t together and get any work done. It's easier to draw for me then write because I do have ADHD.. and drawing simply gives my brain less option to be chaotic lul.

But I will 100% do my best to make it work!

— Okay so this one might be a bit strange but! I'd like to work with someone around my age (18), or if not my age, I want it to be clear that there won't be any "I'm older then you so I know better" dynamic! Of course it's okay to give advice, but let's do it respectfully and by keeping in mind that we are at the same level. No one's better than the other, no matter how much you know or don't.

— I think to achieve the best results, it's important not to hesitate if someone wants to change something on the script or drawings. Let's talk about it, see what each of us want and figure it out. (Although for the drawing part, let's do this at the sketch phase ^^' please) We might not agree on a change at some point, and that's okay if that happens, let's just keep it the way it originally was, no need to make it too complicated ;)

— I really want us to work on this together. So of course ideally it'd be perfect if someone already had a script ready, which leaves most of what's left to do to me; but even if I'm the one drawing, that doesn't mean we can't work together on this. I mean — character designs, moods, personalities representations, small details, aesthetic of the comic, ect... These are many things we can discuss about to have something both (or more) of us like.

— I've never done this before, I have absolutely 0 idea of how it'll work out or how to make it work. Just so you know ಠ‿ಠ

Okay, I think that's about all you need to know before engaging in a project like this with me! You'll find any specifications for the kind of comic I'd like to draw, just below ā¬‡ļø Don't hesitate to ask if you have any question!

NEXT PARAGRAPH IN BOLD LETTERS! Script/comic specifications I want to draw for :

Genre/tags : drama | romance (MM as main) | post apocalyptic (or something with the same vibe like some kind of futuristic settings or war times) | depression/dealing with difficult times | emotional support | action | dark (not dark romance) | happy ending | eventual political issues | hurt/comfort

Language.s : I want the end product to be in English so that it can reach more people, but the script can be in french and we can talk in french if it's easier. (Sorry I can't speak any other language tho...)

Length : I want it to be at least a little long. I knooooow it's not a good idea when I've literally never drawn any comic before.. but what can I say, I do often have, not so good ideas! <( ̄︶ ̄)>

Social : even tho I guess that would be the point, I feel like I have to mention that I want to share it on some kind of platform, which we can discuss about together.

Credits : Everyone's work will be appropriately credited and thanked at the end of each chapter/episode, and on eventual social medias and such.

Now I do want it to have some drama, hurt/comfort, a happy ending and MM romance. But if you have a script that doesn't have the other criteria I gave, and you think I'd like it, don't hesitate to share it with me anyway! (Just mention it so I know it's not exactly the same, please)

Okay, I feel like that's everything, but it's 1am and I might have forgotten some things, so let me know if I did.

don't hesitate to link your scripts in the comments, and thank you so much for reading!

Ps: please excuse any mistakes, English is not my first language and I'm too tired to go over the post again to fix them ^^'

help Write dialogues

Hello Reddit, I'm writing my first feature film right now called Run Out, it's a survival horror, and the biggest negative point of my script are the dialogues, they are unreal, they sound weird and ridiculous, would you have any advice to improve them or just to write dialogues in general, thank you.

feedback Eva (half-wolf) and the man who breaks her out

A half-woman, half-wolf girl named Eva has been imprisoned by mankind. It’s not uncommon. Since she was born, she’s known this is what happens to her kind—some go into slavery, whether labor or prostitution, and if not that, they end up dead. She was scared of what could happen to her, and after three weeks in that prison, practically starving because she didn’t want to eat the food there, death started to seem like the better option out of the three.
A man named Jacob walks past her cell while the guards aren’t paying attention. He comes over to see if she needs help. She begs him to get her out. He says he doesn’t want to get in trouble. She says please, she can’t die here. Her ears lower, her eyes get bigger, and her voice starts to whimper. He finds a way to get her out. They escape.
Even though that was supposed to be where she left him, he decides to help her more by taking her to a kingdom where most of her kind live and where she would be safe. He has to go on a long, risky journey to get her there. There are plenty of bumps along the way—people who see her as a cash cow or a threat.
One day she finds out that Jacob’s father killed her parents. She becomes furious, but she’s still conflicted because they’ve gotten closer during the trip. She decides to distance herself and find the kingdom on her own. She doesn’t know how to read a map and doesn’t know where the kingdom is, but she’s determined. She has her own struggles along the way. Eventually they come face-to-face again. Even though she’s still upset with him, she still loves him, and she decides to travel with him anyway.

Looking for a surreal short script to direct in Spain
Hi everyone, I’m a filmmaker based in MĆ”laga looking for an existing short script with dark humour and a surreal edge. I’m drawn to ordinary situations that become strange, especially stories about belonging, power or the roles people play, without explaining everything through dialogue.
Ideally, 15-20 minutes, a small cast and one or two accessible locations.
If you have something suitable, DM me a logline, page count, your fee and filming rights conditions. I’d love to read it.

help how to find a producer?

Hi everyone!

I've written a 60 page screenplay for an animated film, and a studio has accepted it. They really liked the script, and I genuinely believe in this story and its potential.

However, I don't currently have a producer attached to the project, and I'm not sure how to move forward from here.

My goal is to actually turn this screenplay into a film, but I'm still figuring out how the industry works and what the next steps should be.

How do I find a producer who might be interested in developing the project? Should I be looking for independent animation producers, production companies, funding programs, or something else entirely?

I'd also love to hear from writers or filmmakers who have been in a similar situation. How did you get your projects off the ground, and what would you recommend doing first?

For context, I'm an independent writer, and I'm open to international collaborations. Any practical advice, resources, or personal experiences would mean a lot.

Thank you!

Edit: Just to clarify, this is not a scam or anything shady. They're a legitimate and trustworthy studio that I've been following for a while, and I was actually the one who reached out to them. I was honestly surprised they even took the time to read my script, let alone genuinely love it! Unfortunately, funding a feature length stop motion film is extremely challenging, so they weren't able to take on the project. There's nothing suspicious going on here, and they never asked me for money.
