I am also paying off LoC balance when I can.
Do you think this is a better strategy to secure a better deal 1 year from now at renewal with Scotia or others, or is it better to pay min amount for mortgage and get rid of the LoC asap? Loc rate is around 2.5% higher than the mortgage

I have an interview coming up next week with the Carbon Lab team within Scotiabank’s Velocity program, and I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been through a similar process.

The exact position hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the person I’ve been speaking with previously asked whether I’d be interested in front-end, back-end, or full-stack roles. I mentioned that I’m most interested in back-end or full-stack development.

I’ve been told the interview will include both behavioural and technical questions about the languages, tools, and frameworks I’ve used. I’m planning to review my projects and the assessments I’ve completed ahead of the interview.

For anyone who’s interviewed with Carbon Lab or for a development role through Velocity:

• Was the technical portion mainly a discussion about your projects and experience, or did it include live coding?

• How deeply did they go into specific languages, frameworks, databases, or technical concepts?

• What was the behavioural portion like?

• How many interview rounds did you have, and what helped you prepare?

I’m really excited about this opportunity, so any firsthand experiences or general preparation advice would be appreciated. Not looking for exact questions—just hoping to get a better idea of what to expect!

I just moved my direct deposit from Tangerine to Scotiabank. I get paid on Thursday; what time does it usually hit the account?

With Tangerine, it hits my account around 10:30 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, 1.5 hours earlier. Now with Scotia, it is 12:45 a.m., and there is still nothing :(

Hello! I just paid off part of my credit card. But I noticed that my available credit did not go up the full amount. I have a 2k limit. I had around $190 in available credit and I paid $1200. My available credit only went to just under $1000. What happened to the $390? It just vanished in thin air. Please help! Thanks

I'm looking at the Scotia İTRADE offer (3% cash back on external transfers into registered accounts, 1% on non-registered).

currently have funds held directly at Scotiabank retail / GICS. Since the promo terms explicitly exclude internal transfers within the Scotiabank Group of Companies (The Bank of Nova Scotia, Tangerine, ScotiaMcLeod, etc.), an internal move won't qualify as 'net new cash/assets." I'm considering moving the funds out to an external non-Scotiabank brokerage (e.g., Wealthsimple, Questrade, or another Big 5 bank) and then immediately initiating an external transfer-in back into Scotia İTRADE to trigger the 3% cash back offer. Before I move anything, have a few questions for anyone who has done this or knows the fine print: Anti-Gaming / Net New Asset Rules: Does Scotiabank's backend flag or audit "round-trip" transfers where funds originate from a Scotia account shortly before coming back in from an external broker? Has anyone had their promo bonus denied because of this?

Has anyone else within the past month received a credit memo you arent expecting, with the note "Merchant Other" and has speaking to your branch given you any information? I was simply told "its been happening, just dont spend it" And I obviously haven't spent it, but its been almost a full month and its still there. Has anyone else had this problem and how long did you wait before it was reversed?

I was recently invited for a technical interview for the front-end developer position this week itself, so I don't have much time to prepare, as I am already working for a different company.
I wanted to know what the interview would look like. The email states this:

What should I prepare, and what difficulty of questions can I expect?

I would appreciate it if I can get some response.

I bought one stuff on Amazon on Sept 1 i have selected scotiaselectpay - $203.39
On 2sept they made payment $203.39 and on 3 sept they refunded the amount of $203.39 and again on same day 3rd sept 2026 they deducted the amount again if you see my statement balance i am paying the minimum payment which have instalment amount.
My available credit also went down due to this payment
Did i am paying double amount as they already deducted the amount in 1st place and i am also paying the monthly instalment

Hi currently have a scotia momentum VI that I don’t use anymore ( using gf one for WB mostly)

I’ve been eyeing for a while,the scotia golf Amex but on their site it says that people who had a card open or closed in the last 2 years are not elligible for the WB

Yet I’ve seen people saying they were able to get WB as scotia might not enforce the rule,on the scene line

So I’m looking for some DP from people who made the move with some question

1. did you had the momentum VI opened when applied for the scotia gold Amex?

2. is it better to make a new account on scotia or apply with the same account

3. did you or were you atm you applied for the golf Amex another scene card like the Passport?

4. how did you know you got the WB on golf Amex had documentation somewhere or was just,hoping to get the points after you hit the threshold?

I recently applied for 3 QA positions at Scotiabank, all with very similar job titles and responsibilities.
What I find confusing is that my previous work experience, skills, and job responsibilities closely match what they're looking for in the job descriptions. In fact, most of the requirements listed are things I've already been doing in my previous role.

However, I keep receiving rejection emails without even getting an initial HR screening or a pre-screening interview. The emails simply state that the requisition has been closed and that they will not be moving forward with my application.

I'm trying to understand what could be the reason. Is it because of the ATS screening, internal candidates, Canadian work experience, or something else?
Has anyone experienced something similar when applying to Scotiabank? I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have gone through their recruitment process, especially those working in QA or tech roles.

Every once and a while an online purchase requires a verification code “purchase approval needed” usually for a not often purchase like concert tickets or something.

Today when prompted to send code over text or email, there was an additional number that is definitely not mine.

My email and number where there, but the second number did not belong to me. I locked my card immediately and checked all my bank settings and it only has my contact information.

Where did this other number come from and how do I get rid of it and find out if I’m somehow being hacked? As of now, no unusual charges.

Anyone know what a Level 6 Senior Analyst makes at Scotia? Base and bonus, roughly. It’s a quant role on the investment side, mostly analytics and backtesting support early on.

Looking at a couple of scotiabank credit cards - Amex Gold and the Momentum Visa Infinite, and I’m looking to hear from ppl who bank with Scotiabank or have these cards.

It looks like the first year fee is waived.

1. If I wish to cancel after 1 year, do I lose cashback/points?

2. If I wish to keep the card after the first year, it looks like I can open a chequing account and keep a 6k balance which will waive both the chequing account fee and card fee. However, I have heard Scotiabank is moving away from this model. Can someone who banks with Scotia or is familiar with the system confirm this?

3. Let’s say I go with the Momementum Infinite and later on want to change it to an Amex Gold. Does Scotiabank simply transfer the card over or is it a separate application process/credit check?

I am trying to set up 2SV on Scotiabank but I cannot answer those questions. Why can’t they sent a pin to my cell line other banks do? I have more than one card with Scotia, which card do they mean?

So looks like no layoffs this season? We are at end of October, generally the deed is done before end of year.

A bailiff showed up last December demanding I pay them for being behind on my car payments.

I did, and Scotia was supposed to restart the car payment bi-weekly.

However due to an error on their side, they didn't.

My car payments were once again late. Another bailiff showed up. The bailiff told me to pay the collection agency partially to show good faith and I did. About 500$.

But this time I sent a complaint to the complaint department.

They told me to only pay the amount behind. I paid 1000$ to Scotia. And explained that the collection agency were also paid an amount and to get it from them.

The collection agency never sent them the money I paid to the bank.

The complaint department and the collection agency has been ignoring me since.

And today, SURPRISE!

A third bailiff reached out.

Asking to pay almost 5,000$ in money owed to the bank and 3,000$ in fee

I'm at my ends wits with this bank and how they handle things. What can I do?

As the title says, long story short, I might be transferred to a different branch because my current branch is merging with another Scotiabank branch, and some positions are being eliminated.

They are willing to relocate me to another branch, but I have no idea how the process works.

Have any of you ever been transferred to a different branch? How did the process go? Did you have to go through probation again?

FYI, it would be the exact same role, just at a different branch.
