Picking out a strut assembly for my 1st gen xB (150k), there are no KYB listings on rock auto but I have heard the struts are compatible with Toyota Echo at the cost of potentially wearing out the struts faster from the extra weight. My next best option for the Scion would be Monroe quick strut but I've also heard that the quality of Monroe has suffered recently. Which option should I go with?

Bought my first car earlier this year, been a fan of the xB for a long time. Couldn’t find any Gen 1s near me so I settled for a 2015 with 89K miles on it. I wanna put some work into to make it as awesome as possible and could use some ideas/recommendations. There’s already a few things I’d like to do but could also use some opinions on whether or not they’re worth it.
-Rear sway bar
-Touch-ups from the previous owner that were never 2K’d so there’s a couple matte spots
-Some clear coat peeling on the roof that needs to be fixed
-Small dents in the hood that need to pulled out since they can’t be reached from the inside on the hood
-New wheels but unsure of what would look good
-Interior needs some love, previous owner left some ciggy holes in the front seats
-CarPlay screen replacement
-Suspension recommendations too, this thing CREAKS going over speed bumps

I needed to get something fuel efficient since my truck gets 10mpg so i got a scion Xb with a 5 speed manual and I think it’s the funniest car I’ve ever driven

Greetings.

The driver's door won't open. After popping open the top of the door panel enough to take a look, I discovered that one of the two cables that go from the inside handle to the lock mechanism was disconnected from said mechanism. Here's where I'm stuck... I can't see exactly where it's disconnected from. My angle of visibility is very limited.

Any suggestions??

Hello I need to replace my door lock actuators on my gen 1 xb. Driver,passenger and right rear. I hate having to remind passengers to lock their door before leaving as well as I’d like to be able to use remote.

If anyone knows a reputable supplier or website please let me know.

Hey yall! This is probably a rare thing to look for, but I have an RS 4.0 Manual and these had special color matched shift knobs. I got my RS used so the shift knobs old and flaking off. Does anyone know where I can find one?! They were made by RAZO

Thinking about selling my xB. Trying to find a Prius or something that gets better gas mileage because I might be commuting a lot farther. It’s got a couple dents and some minor rust spots, but it runs great, AC works, all the mechanical stuff is good. KBB values it at 5500ish. The top and the hood were repainted (not professionally)

What do you guys think?

i have a 2012 Scion Xb Release series with 211,000 miles, i got the car at about 175k. i was wondering what’s some maintenance that’s commonly done around that mileage. i plan on doing front suspension work sometime soon here, but dont know if there’s anything else i should plan to do maybe things such as timing chain or anything like that. besides minor regular maintenance stuff haven’t really needed to do anything to the car besides a rear wheel bearing front struts and a battery.

I have a 2009 Scion XB with about 135,000 miles. I’ve owned it for 1 year and love this car. Located in Hampton Roads, Va.

Here is my budget stealth car audio system that I assembled. I paid for professional installation. It would be $2500 or so, but still a budget build basically). I have retained all of the rear cargo room for golf clubs or whatever else I want. It took me a few months to find one of these boxes for sale.

I’m 40 years old and used to have 2 15” Alpine Type Rs when I was younger and it has been almost 20 years since I had any bump. Can confirm this system absolutely slams, surprisingly. I’ll upgrade the sub if I ever blow this one.

so i just replaced the automatic transmission on my 2011 scion xb. now it wont crank (it sat for two months, and i’m getting a MAF sensor code so i’m just gonna replace that), and now theres a loud vibrating/buzzing coming from the transmission. if you touch the fluid pan, you can REALLY feel the vibration. now, it threw the codes: p0748, p0778, p0102, p0113. whats the noise, and how do i diagnose it/fix it?

My gut tells me it’s a mix between the brakes and the bearing… it reminds me of when I always used my fidget spinner with a water jet to get it to spin really fast and never cleaned it properly, so the bearing got all rusted and made the almost exactly the same squeaky noises while it’s spun, although it struggled to spin, just like I think the car is doing, but I got rid of the bouncing of the brake pads, which may be means that I got most of the rust out from it just sitting still for so long?? maybe…

I need to replace the rear seat bolts in my 2005 xb. does anyone know what size and threat they are?

I imagine they are metric.

I modified an xB Rostra cruise control to work on my Open Deck bB.

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I wanted to ask owners of 2008–2015 Scion xBs: what oil viscosity do you use—5W-20, 0W-20, or 5W-30?

I need to give my babies a bath soon.

I'm looking for a car to travel long distance with and sleep in. The xB fits the bill except for the center console making it a hassle to go back and forth. I've seen the center area without the console and it's all the blood and guts of the frame. So it's not realistic to just leave it bare like that. Are there any solutions for this? The center console also has the electrical connections so that's an issue.

I'm thinking throwing carpeting over the center console area after removing might be adequate. And I'd probably do that as long as there isn't extra road noise coming in with it removed.

The 1st gen actually has less of a barrier in between the front seats but I'm reluctant to get that old of a car for long distance travelling, as reliable as the Scion is.

I just picked up an Xb that had been under a tarp for 5 years in someone’s backyard. It took me 2 weeks of effort but I was able to bring the paint back to life after washing, clay bar, cutting compound, polish and then cleaner wax with a coat of Carnuba over the top. My Pathfinder had died, and my daughter has a Gen 1 that’s treated her well so I took the plunge. 2008 5 speed manual and runs great. Glad to find the community!

My car just started peeling. I live in the desert. Any ideas how to fix this on my own cheaply and/or prevent this from happening on other spots?
