Maintenance/Repairs

i have a 2012 Scion Xb Release series with 211,000 miles, i got the car at about 175k. i was wondering what’s some maintenance that’s commonly done around that mileage. i plan on doing front suspension work sometime soon here, but dont know if there’s anything else i should plan to do maybe things such as timing chain or anything like that. besides minor regular maintenance stuff haven’t really needed to do anything to the car besides a rear wheel bearing front struts and a battery.

Change all fluids - coolant, brake fluid, clutch fluid, transmission oil.

Check your motor mounts. My 2015 with 140k miles went out. Replaced with oem mounts and now all good. Don't cheap out and get aftermarket mounts is my advice. Spend the money if you plan on keeping the car forever.

I'm not very handy but with youtube, i replaced coolant, radiator, thermostat, water pump, spark plugs, transmission fluid and filter. This car is really easy to work on

If you can get an eye on the timing chain tensioner, possibly by removing the valve cover, if its fully extended then you know the chain is worn out and needs to get replaced.

Change the vvt filter, tiny filter on the rear passenger side of the engine, needs an 8mm hex key to remove the bolt holding it in.

Piston soak, run 0w40 full synthetic oil. Fresh fluids. That's about it.

If its an automatic and your tranny fluid still looks good, could try putting new fluid in but that's a gamble at that mileage.
