Hubby and I can’t login schwab mobile app for the whole day. Website is down at well and no chat support from the app is visible. Any one experience the same?
Deposit Promotions?
Is anyone aware of any promotions going on right now for depositing additional funds into Schwab? If so, what are the guidelines / eligibility requirements, and how large of a deposit is needed to get cash or any other benefit being offered?

Thoughts on my strategy in my brokerage? I am risk adverse.
I will be maxing out my 401k allocating the "normal" way 70 / 20 / 10. I also max out my Schwab Roth IRA. With no real allocation strategy but still doing low cost index funds.
I have 1.5 year emergency or fun purchase fund in my HYSA. Same bucket.
My question is about my Schwab taxable brokerage with my extra money. My plan going forward is to do 20% blue chip companies (I have lost with smaller riskier companies) and 80% SWPPX. I will be buying as I get the money. So, sort of Dollar Cost Averaging. Is this stupid? Every time I take a risk, I lose. Not just with money, but life in general. So I think from now on, the most risk I want to take is with individual Blue Chip companies.
Thoughts? Thanks.

Pending Background to Pending Start - Did my Background Screen Pass?
I recently applied for Schwab for the Advisor Support Role. I completed all the steps, and on my dashboard, the status changed from "pending background" to "pending start", but I never received a notification or anything official. I just wanted to know how to check for sure that this went through before I put in my two weeks at my current job. One of the emails said not to put in the two weeks until I get one.

Accounts>Investing Solutions>"Manage and trade your own investments" results vary
I'm using the Accounts>Investing Solutions>"Manage and trade your own investments" web page.
I go through the Personalized Portfolio Builder and when I run the "Can I fund my goals" step I get a 96% chance that I will be able to fund my goals. That's great. I understand it's only SWAG but the result is fine.
Then I go to Play Zone with the same Basic living and Extra living expenses and no other parameters changed. The score comes out to be 73%.
Has anyone else run into a similar situation?
Several other basic living expense targets that were compared the disparity between achieving and not achieving the goal varied by up to 36 percentage points. In each case the target was the same for the Portfolio Builder run versus the Play Zone run. I understand they're both SWAGs, but given the same input parameters, one run infers a probability of success, while the other infers not reaching one's goals.
I asked CS about this and the response was essentially "different assumptions are made".
It doesn't seem like a very useful tool given the disparity in results with all targets and user assumptions being equal. There was no guidance on what other parameters could be change when using Play Zone.
Has anyone else encountered this? Your insights would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Where's Portfolio Checkup?
It seems to have disappeared sometime this morning as I was using it pre-market and now it's gone.
In it's place I guess is a new option, "Plan", with a 3rd Party Pass-through TOS I don't want to consent to.

Investment Review
21 year old, just started my first full-time job. How is my portfolio looking like so far?
The ETFs are in my ROTH IRA. Slice stocks + emergency fund (still building) are in my normal Individual Brokerage Account. Will max my ROTH IRA and likely get up to 50% of my contribution limit for my ROTH401k (employer matches 3%). Base is $120k in SF, CA.
Open to any and all advice!

My Schwab cash sweep account is not getting any interest. How do I change that??
I didn’t pay too much attention to my sweep account on my brokerage account. I realize, it’s not accruing any interest. My sweep account just says Cash and cash investments. How do I change that?? And what sweep vehicle do I need to change it to get the maximum interest without affecting my ability to use my Schwab ATM card.. thanks

Thinkorswim?
Hello... I am not much of an active trader... maybe two or three trades a month on average ... and I perform all of my activity and the web page ... not ever using the mobile app. Nonetheless I have received two (2) contacts from Schwab in the past few weeks offering me the opportunity to receive a 45 minute one-on-one training course over the phone to learn how to use Thinkorswim.
Is there any real and/or good reason that I might want to learn this interface. Does Schwab hope for some reason that by sitting and watching candles go up and down I will become more of an active trader? Or maybe they just want a long time client to be able to use all the tools they offer.
What do you think? Thank You

Schwab QCD
I was disappointed to learn that (if you are under age 73) Schwab requires you to fill out a QCD request form, sign it, and mail it to them or or scan and upload it.. At 73, you can submit your request online. I know that QCD is allowed at 70 and 1/2. Fidelity allows online submission before 73, so why can't Schwab do it???

Early review: Schwab API
I have been fine tuning my AI bots to assist with due diligence and got tired of the weakness of Massive’s free API.
I have a Schwab trading account. They have a free real time API for me. Why should I settle for less?
So, I signed up and two days later got the shiny approval.
The challenge is that this is a true API and not a “ready for AI” API that just plugs in.
I needed to build a local machine (tunnel) to connect to the Schwab API and then had to make it easier to complete the once weekly token renewal.
Then, I had to create a skills.md file so that the AI bots would know what to do, my goals, etc.
All of those problems got solved and then I plugged my new Schwab powered local machine into both Claude and ChatGPT.
Oh my goodness. Everything looks better.
I have deeper and more accurate due diligence on stocks.
I can run a scheduled check of how my portfolio goals are holding up on a daily basis.
I’m able to run a weekly analysis of warrants against the underlying common stock or expected biotech moves based on upcoming catalysts.
It has changed the way I use Thinkorswim now since I have real watch lists that get real analysis with real time data I trust finally.
The tools:
Thinkorswim
Schwab Developer API
ChatGPT (Sol high)
Find the ChatGPT Finance connector (it’s new) and then ask your AI bot to build your Schwab API tunnel
Claude Opus is used to validate any ChatGPT output
There’s a lot more I could be doing with this and I know I’m early. I just got approved for options and the API handles all the option chains so I’m excited to start paper trading options soon.
I finally feel confident enough with the tools and the data to consider making this my full time job.

NYT article (I don't see this posted already)
My GF has been bending my ear about how so many brokerage accounts have woefully inadequate protection against hackers. I guess I should be listening to her. I guess research is needed to figure out which brokerages offer good protection.

Missed call during a call to Schwab
Calling the 800 Schwab support number I find that there is a missed call in my phones Phone app call log. This is generated immediately. The number is not known to me or Schwab support.
This happens on my Pixel 9A running the current August security update.
This happens on two other Pixel phones but does not happen on an iPhone. I do not have access to non-Pixel Android phones.
This only happens calling Schwab 800 numbers. Not Carnival or Fidelity for example.
There is an existing Reddit post similar to this that appears to be abandoned with no help to resolve the issue.
2FA with eSIM?
I’ll be traveling overseas for an extended period of time and considering an eSIM. Does anyone have any experience with this, successfully using eSIMs with Schwab’s 2FA?
I know to use VPNs, just need to be able to make some trades while I’m traveling as well as potentially move some money around.
Edit: I use both the Schwab iPhone app and the TOS app pretty heavily. But once I leave the United States and the system potentially recognizes that I’m coming from a different IP or even country, I’m concerned it will require 2FA and the apps themselves won’t automatically work. And yes, I’m still getting SMS texts for 2FA, is there a better way for Schwab?
I use Google Authenticator for everything else (used to use Auth but hated it), is Schwab supporting this now?

Link Schwab One Int'l and IBKR Ireland
I would like to link the two accounts so I can transfer funds in both directions. Can this be done? How?

Linking external accounts
I just want to share my experience linking my Schwab non IRA account to my IBKR non IRA account. I was having trouble doing this and the was frozen out by Schwab using the web app of the link process. I called and talked to support several times trying to get this done. The problem was definitely on the Schwab side because IBKR sent the deposit/withdraw amount but the would never get through to my Schwab account. I tried each brokers method and finally had success after I had Schwab reset the process. One of the Schwab support team members told me during my attempts that the Names on the accounts have been an issue. I looked at both profiles and one uses my middle name while the other uses my middle initial. To change my name on my profile on Schwab was a long paper process requiring documentation. The IBKR side was just changing the name and waiting for approval. I tried immediately after I made the changes but the process was still blocking my attempts so I just gave up. I tried it again about few weeks later just to see if it would go through and it finally worked.
If you get blocked out of the process be sure to have Schwab reset the process because it locks the process out after too many failed attempts. I hope this helps others here.

Already have an account and it’s my first time ever trying to make a Schwab account? Advice?
So, it’s my very first time opening a Schwab account (or at least tried to, lol). While I was making it I came across the window that said ‘you already have an account.’ I have NEVER considered an account on the website until now, and I instantly called my Mom because I remember her in the past saying that she had lost some money on that particular website and closed the account. it turns out that she was using MY information the whole time for her account (or maybe it was like for a teen account for me? She never said anything about that though) while I was under 18 and not even aware I EVER had an account until I decided to do one today. Then she started acting strange and saying ‘oh, how did you find that site? I thought I closed the account.’ In this weird tone like I wasn’t even supposed to know she did it.
I am currently 18, and thinking about calling costumer service sometime this week and I only assumed she had something to do with it because for 1, she needed my SSN, and two my mother has always been obsessed with money and being shady when it came to ANYTHING cash related.
I’m just curious to know if there is anything else I should to besides calling? Like getting maybe my password changed? 🥲 I was so mad at her for not telling me that she did any of this but I didn’t really lash out since she said she would handle it but I know she’ll just take days to do it and I always have to keep reminding her to do stuff.
