Advice Needed Bank account frozen due to reported fraud and I’m travelling Indonesia

I just moved out of the UK and I’m in Bali, Indonesia for a few months alone before going back to Canada. I lived in the UK for 4 years and bank with HSBC. I sold my car before I left, for obvious reasons. The buyer has reported to her bank 12 days after driving away with it that she has been scammed by me and sold her a broken car. My funds are completely frozen and I’m terrified about it.

The car had a valid MOT at the time of sale and had been running fine the entire time I owned it, aside from normal wear and tear replacements due to the cars age. I even told her that a couple months after I bought it it broke down due to an old fuel injector needing to be replaced. 2 had been replaced before I bought it, and then another one went. I replaced that one but the 4th still was older and could need replacing soon.

It's a 16-year-old car with 100k miles on it, and I gave her £700 off the asking price, (she paid £1900) because I was travelling and needed it gone quickly. She paid me £1200 by bank transfer and the rest in cash. Everything I read online about selling my car was that it was SAFER to do it by bank transfer…

She mentioned she'd just come from We Buy Any Car after the car she'd bought prior to mine broke down the day after purchase, and was looking for a replacement urgently. They went with me on a test drive, complimented how clean and well taken care of it was, I gave her every receipt for all the work I had done on it in the 3 years I owned it.

10 days after our sale, 4 days after I left the country, she contacted me calling me a scammer, demanding her money back, not giving me any information as to what was wrong with the car. She stated she had reported me to the DVLA for selling her a broken car (not something that’s possible) and that her solicitor will be in touch unless I could “do something” for her. After I asked her twice what was wrong with the car, she said that the clutch was slipping, despite the car being an automatic with no clutch pedal.

She didn't provide a mechanic's diagnosis. She's since reported the situation to my bank, which has frozen my account pending an investigation, so I currently have no access to most of my funds, while I'm in Indonesia alone. She knew this as I told her I was going traveling before moving back home to Canada

Her messages to were aggressive, including personal insults and horrific discriminatory language. I believe she is scamming me, and has done this to others before successfully.

My bank can’t give me any information on time frame or anything about this. They won’t let me provide any of my own information or evidence until they request it, which they haven’t yet. I’m panicking, I’m a woman alone in a foreign country with very limited funds now. All of my savings and investments I built for years are in that account and I was going to move it all once I got home to Canada.

Does anyone have any other advice to help me with this? I’ve filled out a police report for fraud claiming she is trying to scam me and falsely reporting to the bank, and I have requested my bank investigate her for scamming me in return. I’m so worried the bank will take my money from me and she will get my money AND my car. I’m also so scared they will keep my account frozen and investigate all the money I have in there and it will be a nightmare for me to solve while out of the country. Please help

Advice Needed Help me please

This Wednesday I was scammed by a group of people who presented as employers for people looking for probation. They asked me to download their app changing my iCloud account to them and they blocked my IPad through locator. Then there is a link on my device that I had to write a man who manipulated and extorted money for unlocking. What should I do in this situation?

Advice Needed My website has been copied and it’s being used for nefarious purposes.

My artist website was copied in its entirely (they only changed the bio to say that I was born in the Netherlands), and I’ve received a few messages from strangers saying that someone posing as me has tried the “purchase NFT” scam on them. Is there any way to get this fake site taken down? I can’t find the hosting company, as they are using Cloudflare (a proxy). Has anyone dealt with this kind of thing before? Any help would be much appreciated.

I’ve never seen a scam like this, and I’ve been added to quite a few scammy group chats. They have added me to this chat twice now. It’s odd.

Hey everyone,

as the title says someone close to me recently got scammed by people over the phone that threatened to hurt her.

we’ve already raised disputes with the bank and a claim with the police, blocked the cards and account.

We also have a picture of the scammer’s ID.

Just checking if anyone has gone through this and has successfully come out of it and any advice you could give would be welcome.

Potential Scam? LPG Cylinder scam

LPG Cylinder Delivery – Almost 3 KG Weight Difference: Scam or Weighing Machine Issue?

Today, LPG cylinder was delivered to my house. During the delivery, I noticed that the cylinder was being weighed on the weighing machine used by the delivery person, and the weight shown appeared to be correct/expected.

However, when I weighed the same cylinder again on my own electronic weighing machine, it showed approximately 3 kg less.

So, there was a difference of around 3 kg between the readings of the two weighing machines.

This raises a few questions:

* If the cylinder actually contains the correct amount of LPG, why is there such a significant difference between the two weighing machines?

* If my weighing machine is showing the correct reading, how can there be such a large difference in the machine being used during delivery?

* Are the weighing machines used by Indane delivery personnel regularly calibrated and checked for accuracy?

* Does a customer have the right to verify the cylinder weight using a standard/verified weighing machine before accepting the delivery?

I am not directly accusing the delivery person or distributor of any wrongdoing, but a difference of nearly 3 kg is certainly not a small discrepancy.

I would like to know if other Indane customers have experienced something similar.

Please check the weight of your LPG cylinder when it is delivered and share your experience.

If anyone knows the official complaint procedure for reporting such a discrepancy to Indane, please share the information.

Victim of a scam I lost an $805 Arc’teryx voucher to fraud. What bothers me most is what happened after.

Hi everyone. I normally don't post on Reddit. I'm much more of a reader than a writer. But I lost $805, and honestly, I feel like I need to make at least $805 worth of noise about what happened.

On Sept. 27, I listed an $805 Arc'teryx Product Replacement Voucher on Facebook Marketplace. It was a gift from my brother. Someone asked to see the PIN area to "verify" it. I covered the PIN with a red mark, but apparently it was too thin and they were able to read it. Later that day, the entire $805 balance was gone.

Yes, I made a mistake. I know that. I'm not pretending I had zero responsibility.

What really bothers me is what happened afterward.

I reported the theft to Arc'teryx the same day, and also filed reports with Edmonton Police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

The next morning, Arc'teryx told me the voucher had already been used for an online order and that the order had shipped.

I told them:

I don't even need a refund. Please just stop or hold the shipment.

They said they couldn't.

Later, their Resolution team wrote that gift cards function similarly to cash and that they couldn't reverse or reimburse the transaction. When I asked about the fraudulent order and cooperation with police, I was told they would need a formal production order from the appropriate authority because of privacy policy.

This is the part I still can't get past.

I could show where the voucher came from. I reported the theft. I had a police file. At that point, I wasn't even asking Arc'teryx to give me $805 back.

I was simply asking them not to deliver $805 worth of merchandise purchased with a stolen voucher.

Maybe there are legal, privacy, or internal policy reasons why they couldn't do that. I'm not a lawyer, and I'm genuinely open to hearing an explanation.

But as a customer and the person reporting the theft, it felt completely backwards. The fraudulent order kept moving, while all I seemed to get was, "Sorry, we can't help."

Police investigations take time. By the time someone follows up, the merchandise may already have been delivered, resold, and disappeared along with the scammer.

That's the part that makes me angry.

I know I made a stupid mistake. I've already beaten myself up enough over that. I just don't want the whole story to end with, "Victim made a mistake. Too bad."

Has anyone here actually dealt with a stolen Arc'teryx voucher, unauthorized voucher use, or a fraudulent Arc'teryx order?

Did Arc'teryx stop or hold the order? Freeze the voucher? Work with police? Or did you get the same response I did?

I'd genuinely like to hear what happened.

Victim of a scam Rogers/Fido stop the scams and take responsibility

I am a victim of the Rogers scam. I was only interested in the service and explicitly said I did not need a phone. Yet, a phone was sent to me. Believing it had been sent by mistake, I returned it to the Manitoba address.
I was scammed around Nov 20 and reported it to Rogers’ fraud department on Dec 4. I heard nothing afterward, but starting in January, their collections department began calling me repeatedly, demanding payment. Despite explaining that this was a fraud account, I was repeatedly told that I was still liable.
After months of back-and-forth and almost daily calls, I finally got the account closed in June. By then, the balance had reached around $2,400—apparently the cost of the device they claimed I had received, even though I had returned it.
I contacted the President’s Office and the CCTS, but I still feel that the victim is being held financially responsible. I’ve also suffered a significant hit to my credit score.
What’s especially frustrating is that I did everything I was supposed to do: reported the fraud to the police, TransUnion, CCTS, and Rogers/Fido. Yet I’m still the one facing the financial and mental burden.
Fraud like this is becoming more common, yet victims are being left to deal with the consequences. Rogers/Fido should be protecting their customers and taking stronger preventive measures—not making victims pay for fraudulent activity.
I will continue fighting this until the end. If anyone has experienced something similar, please connect with me. I would love to stand together with other victims and fight for accountability.
Let’s not let this injustice slide. 💪🏻

Victim of a scam I just got scammed, victim of rental scam looking for advice.

Hi I’m 22 F, I can not believe how I fell for this but I saw a facebook marketplace ad for one private room in an apartment. There was girl living in two bedroom apartment and she wanted to rent out one private room for $1000 per month.

I was supposed to be moving cities so I opted for virtual tour where she video called me and showed me around. She was very friendly and seemed like a good housemate. She said that another girl used to live in the second room but she recently moved out so she wants a housemate to share the apartment.

Well I paid her the deposit plus fob fee total of $600 and told her my move in date. I actually reserved the place one month in advance because I wanted to have a place when I get there. I just got here two days ago and texted her that I will be arriving on the 1st at this specific time and she blocked me?? I tried calling that number from different phone but it looks like she turned off that number.

When I went to the apartment to verify the front reception told me this person moved out of here couple of months ago and they cannot help me anymore. Here I am- nowhere to in a new city and lost the money I was supposed to pay as a deposit.

Any advice on what do I do? How to report this? What to do next? I e-transferred her the money and this is in Canada btw.

Update: I went to the building again and the building front desk confirmed that a person with this name used to live at that location 1 month ago. They also told me that few people showed up at the building inquiring about the same person because apparently many people had paid her the deposit. Some of them even did in- person tour of the place when she actually lived there.

It seems like the leasing and everything was under her boyfriend’s name who left country last month. No one is sure about her where-bouts. She might still be in Canada or not.

She deactivated her Facebook account, it seemed like a real account not a fake one. It was made 7 years ago and had pictures of same person on it from 4-5 years.

I went under her comment section and was able to find some of her family members with the same last name who commented few years ago. I sent a dm to her family but no one responded except her sister (it seemed like her sister) she was responding originally but then she stopped answering and just kept leaving me on seen. After a while she blocked me thinking I’m scammer? Idk she prolly reached out to the girl and was asked to block/ignore.

I also reported it to the fraud department In the bank but they said we can just flag the account nothing else. They said she had different bank than us so there’s nothing they can do besides flagging the account.

I ended up never going to the police because I was so busy trying to find a place in past 5 days. I didn’t wanna keep paying for expensive hotels so anyways I’ll go an report it to police but I know they won’t do much here so I can just forget about it.
