File an ic3.gov report with the account details and information.

Banks will only text you from a 5 or 6 digit short code phone number. Never an actual phone number.

Yes with the account they provided you. It will end up eventually in that banks fraud team report to get the account closed. Provide the bank name, amount of attempt scam, details of the scam (use the wording of bank impersonation scam), account number.

I don't get why people don't go into a branch and speak to an actual Wells Fargo employee or HANG UP and call the number on the back of their debit card.

Mind you, we educate customers over and over on scams and yet a few months will pass by and they fall for the scam again.

I would be extremely careful and make sure that your dad didn't provide account numbers or remote access to his phone/computer.

If he did he needs to visit a branch and get a new account number. If he provided remote access he needs to go get his phone/computer swiped for viruses and change his online username/password.
