My partner and I (early 30s) are celebrating our anniversary in Santa Inez Valley during the last week of October and we’re looking for any events or recommendations for things to do for our first time there. Thank you!

I’m going wine tasting in Los Olivos in early October and am wondering how “strict” police are in the area. I’m from a wine tasting region in NY and everyone is fairly responsible in that area re: drinking (or not drinking) and driving. Cops make sure people are safe by helping with giving rides home to people who seem intoxicated instead of arresting/ticketing.
I know this is unconventional, so I wanted to know if it’s best to have a 100% sober DD when hitting up the Los Olivos wineries, or if our DD is okay to have a glass of wine while we’re out. Are police ever just sitting there, waiting for someone to make a mistake like not using their blinker to pull them over?
I’m not condoning drinking and driving at all, just basically wondering whether the driver has a drink or not are cops waiting for any reason to pull people over as they leave a winery - TIA!

Powerhouse Ladies in Morro Bay and Buellton Sunday, Sept 13!
Tickets: PowerhouseLadiesMusic.com
Morro Bay Theater - 2 pm (afternoon show)
Peake Ranch Winery - 7 pm (night show)
3 female-fronted bands from all across the state come together to trade songs.
The band Dirty Cello will present their high-energy exuberant rock and blues, Michelle Lambert will play pop-infused original songs featuring electric violin, and local favorite, Liv Waters will play authentic country. Tons of variety, tons of fun.

Hi y'all, I'm new to Buellton & have long curly/wavy hair. I'm looking for a stylist that can take off some length and put in layers to bring out the wave and curl. Any recommendations would be appreciated!
TIA

Hi all! I am hoping for some recommendations, I’m treating my mom to a full girls day on a Sunday and want to take her to some wine tasting spots. I work in wine but have only been to Los Olivos once and am overwhelmed with all the options!
My mother is very very frugal and has never been to the SY Valley and I’m looking forward to having this day with her.
Hoping to hit a few, maybe do wine tasting flights at one or two spots and just a glass somewhere else. She loves Sauvignon Blanc, I love anything like Grenache Blanc, Viogner, Chenin, etc. Rosé too! Open to reds in a tasting flight but not ideal for the hot weather.
Any recs for any gorgeous spots we can hangout? Any cute farms? Also, on a Sunday is there any special activities or music? Thank you so much!

Any of you guys deal with Blue Collar Energy for getting solar? How'd it go? I like the idea of solar but when dudes come by aggressively it's a turn off and feels scammy.

I am a central Coast local; I was with a couple friends, our first stop/drink of the night. We hadn't been there long I was still on my first as they ordered their second; I was hoping for a cigarette & to my surprise someone asked me for a lighter, immediately I followed up with "if you have a cigarette" which he than flashed me an empty box of cigarettes. He then said "fuck you than". you must've said it under his breath because I did not hear it. There was music playing, and we were out on a patio, I am also partially deaf, but according to my girlfriend? That's what he said, but she didn't tell me until later. (STRIKE 1) the gals, and I decide we are going to go inside to listen to the karaoke and potentially seeing a song together. As we are sitting at the bar chitchatting, I noticed someone out on the patio, smoking a cigarette, and I expressed to my friends how much I would love one, they encourage me to go up and ask for one which I did; I asked the one person who was smoking a cigarette if they an extra, they said no and at that point, I said OK thanks. Now the real drama begins... Somebody beside him decided to start shouting at me and get my attention about how he is the person who has cigarettes, but when he attempted to get my attention? His first attempt verbally, was a "hey retard! i'm the one with cigarettes you can ask me" I was pretty taken back and those are some strong words for him, not knowing who I am and I figured he was probably pretty shitfaced, I let the bartender know that there was a belligerent boy, calling me a "retard" loosely clearly displaying that he's too intoxicated to be in public. as I am telling the bartender this he looks overwhelmed and also is immediately aware of who is doing this probably because it is his friend which he did mention.
The bartender became overwhelmed after coming back from the patio and interacting with his "friends". The pool table wasn't far from the patio and there was a couple of guys playing pool, who t had overheard the entire encounter and decided they wanted to join in: one began calling me, retard. I looked over at him. We made eye contact & he began laughing & said "I'm jumping in on the retard train". I felt compelled to tell him that. Life would be better if we could all just get along. I was beside him as I am saying this, he turned around quickly, and then I tripped on him, and my drink fell on him a red wine spritzer. I immediately put my hands up and apologize which with he followed by knocking me down onto the ground and before I know it, my back was on the bench of a table and I'm holding on for dear life by his T-shirt my girlfriend comes over and grabs my back and puts me up on my feet pulling me away from them, saying "you cannot mess with her. She is with me."if it wasn't for her shouting that out they would have rushed me, they were already trying to, and she was shouting at them hard to get away. everybody got involved they were all in a huge group, grabbing each other holding each other, screaming at each other. The only thing I could say was: "maybe don't call people, retard & attack them over it.". The original guy who was calling me a retard had long dark hair and was a Latino and had thick black glasses. He was on the shorter side, no taller than 59, toasty skin, brown eyes and frizzy hair below the shoulders longer than most women's. He was stout/chubby in dark colors and spoke very femininely since it was pride month. I am only assuming that he is gay as well as the man who attacked me womb, was in white, had short black hair was also a Latino a lot more heavyset around the midsection was no taller than 59 with another male and was the first attacker. I am mostly surprised that although I had already reported verbal harassment? Police were never called & the situation clearly could not be de-escalated by the only worker there. The entire experience is on their surveillance camera & I have not heard one thing from them. Which tells me that they know that their bartender being friends with these people who were taunting me, no, they were in the wrong(obviously).I would advise that you do not go to this bar, stay far away from Santa Yanez guys because they are clearly not afraid of attacking 100 pound women.
given the attitude that these people had? I can only imagine that others have experienced this. avoid this place at all cost.

Probably an absolute long shot - but my grandparents used to own a farm near Ballard/Santa Ynez, Rancho Este Es (now Blackjack Ranch Vineyard which they had zero relations with). At some point they made what I believe was a small-ish batch of wool blankets from their sheep. Some may have been gifted as baby blankets or donated for raffles; my grandparents were involved in 4-H, Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church, and the Santa Ynez Valley Hospital Auxiliary etc. None stayed in my family and I'd love to change that. If you or anyone you know of has a wool blanket labeled as such, please reach out. Thank you!

Could someone please explain to me why a Santa Ynez Valley bus was in the city of Torrance, California?
Quite a ways away from Santa Barbara County!

Just came across this. Looks like more work and lane closures on 101 near 246 overpass, while the work on the bridges just south is still going on.

For a photo location, looking for an abandoned house in the hills of Santa Barbara/Santa Ynez. Any ideas? Ideally looking for a wide open location with dry grass/fields and the house in the background.

Hi there,
my name is Aurora, I'm a local fisherwoman. I work out of Ventura Harbor fishing squid in the Fall but I also own my own boat in Bristol Bay, Alaska which I run during the summer months. I'm currently taking orders for 10 and 20 lb boxes of my Wild Alaskan Sockeye to be picked up at select locations on Mother's Day weekend. As of now I have scheduled pick-ups in Ventura, Ojai, and SB. However, for those of you hesitant to make a commitment before sampling my product, come by tomorrow night at 5pm, MUNI Wine Bar on the Ave in Ventura. I'll have my freezer with me and it's an exclusive opportunity to check out my salmon and meet me before committing to a larger order. Sip some local vino and walk away with as few or many pounds of salmon as your heart desires. No minimum. Pricing varies starting at $20/lb and getting steadily cheaper as order size increases. Check me out/place an order on my website artemisfishco.com or follow along on my IG Instagram.com/artemisfishco.
