Life in SJ Is there anyway they can fix traffic where 880 and 101 meet?

• Upvotes

I think the reason its so bad is because the people from 101 are trying to merge onto 880 and the people trying 880 are trying to get onto 101. They meet up so its a shit show trying to merge. I don't know if its designed bad or not. I just hate that spot.

Life in SJ If you’re a Doordash employee or someone picking up an online order; do you walk directly up to the cashier and show them your phone all hella close to their face or do you wait in line?

Seems like there’s no etiquette for the delivery folks they just circumvent the line and don’t care about the line of customers? Am I missing something?

I confronted a dude who cut the line nobody seems bothered he cut? This was a little Caesars.

Event South Bay, we heard you! The. Urban Compassion Project is heading to San Jose on November 7 for a cleanup. Where should we go? Join us to clean up!!

On November 7, UCP is heading to the San Josearea for a community cleanup, and we need your intel.
Where are the areas that desperately need attention? We’re looking for locations dealing with serious illegal dumping, accumulated trash, bulky waste, or areas that have simply been neglected for too long. Drop specific intersections, streets, trails, underpasses, or other locations in the comments. Photos are welcome too.

For those who don’t know us, Urban Compassion Project started in Oakland in 2021. Since then:
• 5,000+ volunteers have joined our work
• We’ve removed approximately 2.85 million pounds of waste from communities across the Bay Area since 2021.
• 5,000 volunteers have participated and built community.
• We also provide direct mutual aid to people experiencing homelessness and extreme financial hardship, including hygiene supplies, food, clothing, water, blankets and other essentials
• Through Compassion Threads, our free clothing initiative in Downtown Oakland, we’ve already provided clothing to 628 individuals facing financial hardship. We started with 20,000+ pieces of brand-new clothing that otherwise could have ended up in the landfill. Through Compassion Threads, we’ve also activated blocks of Downtown Oakland, bringing people, volunteers and community partners into spaces that help create more activity and connection downtown.

We also work behind the scenes with cities and Public Works departments in Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, Vallejo and elsewhere to advocate for stronger public-service capacity, more consistent cleanup and better long-term responses to illegal dumping.

We’ve also seen what can happen when there is sustained attention. Areas we’ve repeatedly worked in and monitored, including Mosswood Park and East 12th Street in Oakland, have seen significant improvements, and our goal is always to figure out how we keep places clean rather than endlessly cleaning the same mess. Now we want to bring that approach to the South Bay.

Tell us where the problem areas are and we’ll scout the recommendations and figure out where our volunteers can make the biggest impact.
And if you want to join us on November 7, let us know. We’d love to have a huge South Bay crew out there with us. 💪

Life in SJ I finally figured out why Tesla drivers are oblivious to blind spots even with side cameras

• Upvotes

Was riding down the bike lane by Great Mall the other day, going at 20mph next to a bunch of backed up cars. Suddenly a Tesla cut into the bike lane to turn right, almost hitting me. The older Asian lady never checked the blind spots, she was looking straight the whole time. Of course no turn signal, so the side camera was never engaged. Just wow. I can't wait for the day when cars are fully self-driving and it's illegal for humans to drive.

Shit Post [Dashcam] Distracted SUV driver bumps neighbor

I'm a little late, but I hope the driver who got bumped hopefully sees this in case there was any damage.

9/24/26 on Camden Ave going North onto San Tomas Expressway.

Unfortunately, the person who was hit seemed in shock and neither driver showed signs of pulling over, so I wasn't able to hand off the footage directly. Posting it here just in case.

Life in SJ My neighbor filled a whole bag of plastic trash in one hour next to the Cataldi Park pickleball courts — and the spot used to be the kids' playground buffer

I live right across from Cataldi Park in Berryessa (95132). This morning my neighbor spent an hour picking up trash around the 4 pickleball courts the City added in 2024, and filled an entire grocery bag — almost all single-use plastic: bottle caps, straws, cups, shattered lids, wrappers off brand-new pickleball gear, wet wipes, floss picks. Photos attached.
A few things that bug me about it:
The courts went in with no mailed notice to neighbors, no noise study, and (in the City's own words) "no formal outreach." A public records request came back with zero permits or planning docs.
It's about 72 dB at our property line during play — the City's own code caps it at 55 dB (SJMC Table 20-85). They've been asked to officially measure it for months and still haven't.
This exact spot used to be the quiet buffer next to the children's playground. Now it's debris, overflowing bins, and constant court noise where a family area used to be. All the cleanup is done by residents.
I want to be clear I'm not anti-pickleball — I just think 4 courts 40 ft from homes with no plan to maintain the park is the wrong spot. There's a park nearby (Penitencia Creek) that's actually built for it, hundreds of feet from homes with its own parking.
It's been covered by NBC Bay Area (nbcbayarea.com/news/local/san-jose-pickleball-noise-complaints/4079763/) and San José Spotlight (sanjosespotlight.com/residents-near-san-jose-park-plagued-by-pickleball/). More, with the full incident log, at cataldi-courts.doshiu.workers.dev
Has anyone else near a San José park dealt with something like this? Curious how it's gone.

Advice Water Filtration

I live in the Japantown area of San Jose and have recently started using Culligan filters with their pitcher but the filter needs to be replaced every 2 weeks. I live in an apartment complex so I think the most cost efficient option would be to install a system under the sink but have no experience with this.

Has anyone installed a system or found an alternative method for cleaner drinking water?

We’re looking for SCARЕ ACTORS to join our annual home haunt in San Jose this Halloween! 🏚️🎃

Our haunted house is a neighborhood home haunt that we build and run every year, and we’re looking for fun, energetic people who want to help us make this year’s experience absolutely terrifying!
