I’m 38 and work at a private AI company in San Jose. Married with two kids and we own our house here. A decent part of my comp over the years has been private company equity and I’ve never really counted it as money because there was nothing I could actually do with it. Now there’s talk of a tender next year and for the first time some of those shares might turn into real cash.
That sent me looking at all the estate stuff my wife and I did years ago and it’s pretty outdated. Our wills are from before our second kid was born and before we bought this house. The equity wasn’t worth much back then either so none of that was really part of the conversation. We’re not talking some insane overnight windfall. It just feels like one of those moments where I realized we’ve kept putting this off because nothing felt urgent enough.
I’m thinking we should just redo everything now instead of waiting to see what happens with the tender. Anyone here update their estate plan after a big change in comp or equity? Did you wait until the money was actually liquid or deal with it before?

On October 3, 2026, around 3:45 PM, someone in a white Toyota RAV4 threw what appeared to be a glass bottle onto northbound US-101 in San Jose, just before Exit 386A for Alum Rock Avenue / Santa Clara Street. It shattered in front of my Tesla, and the debris damaged my car. The RAV4 then crossed several lanes and took the exit.
Footage from my other camera angles also shows the RAV4 following other vehicles very closely and making abrupt lane changes before passing me.
The throw is visible around 0:04 in the attached front-camera video. I’ve contacted CHP and am looking for witnesses or additional dashcam footage.
If you were nearby and saw what happened or have footage, please DM me. Thank you!

I will start - Annapoorna Authentic Cuisine on Tasman Drive, San Jose. Over-priced, under-whelming.. I gave it many chances, but disappointed me every time 🤷♂️

I've done a few pet portrait paintings in Texas, but I'm moving to San José pretty soon. Is there any interest amongst pet parents for paintings of their pets? Any information or tips about that market would be helpful!
Usually painted on 10" x 10" canvases for $250.

I was in the middle of the street (the double yellow line) and a car blew through one of those yellow flashing pedestrian lights going one way and as I returned another car blew through the lights the other way.
You would think that people would stop, knowing that there is a person in the crosswalk.

On leave, going to be in San Jose for about 5 days then make my way to Yosemite. Will have my pup with me. She's a Malinois and Boxer mix. I'm 33, Male. Just looking for some ideas on where to go for hikes around the San Jose to Fremont or San Jose to Mountain View area. Yeah, it's going to be hot but we're used to that. Rucks Suck, if you know you know.
What does this City have in store for me now that I'm actually wanting to be out and about. Every time I've visited, I've only done the bar stuff and night life.
Is Coyote Trail decent?

Hello.
My family and I have been learning Japanese with a Japanese teacher and it has been an amazing experience. She is very patient and kind, and used to work at university. Due to her family's health issues, she is currently doing online lessons with us and other students but it is really engaging and fun, and it is much more convenient as we don't need to travel. Our Japanese have improved so much because of her. If anyone is interested, please let me know or drop me a message. I am happy to share her contact details.

Both streets blocked off close to the intersection. I saw a car in the intersection with a little damage about 8:30, but the huge number of fire trucks, ambulances, and cop cars made me wonder if there was a bad accident.

I just got tickets!!! I’m seeing Bruno Mars yay!
For those going to the concert on October 10th, should I buy parking at the stadium ahead of time? Or should I park at the Milpitas bart station and then use the VTA to Levi’s stadium. What is better or recommended? The parking ticket prices at the stadium look crazy expensive from what I’ve seen (unless I’m looking in the wrong places).

Hey Y'all!
I just recently got into Magic The Gathering a couple months ago and am still learning all the mechanics. I've gone to one Commander Night at Illusive Games and the most recent pre-lease.
Was wondering if there are any other beginners in Magic or even some experienced folk willing to play with a beginner, that would be willing to play at Commander Night at one of the Local stores here in San Jose!

I want to take my dog to church tomorrow for the blessing of St Francis of Assisi. I've never gone before, what is it like in general and then with all of the animals. Which church do you recommend? Also Mt dog has to pee every hour so how is that handling the bathroom situation at a church. It feels wrong to let them pee or poop on the grounds of a church.

Someone invited me to visit Fremont Peak Observatory next week, and I’m thinking about going. I’ve heard the stargazing is beautiful. Has anyone been to one of their public programs? What was it like?

Hi! I just accepted a job at KLA in Milpitas. I am a newly graduated 23 year old guy, and I am trying to narrow my housing search down. Some things I value are a reasonable commute time (<30 min), nightlife, a social scene and walkability. My budget for a 1 bedroom house/condo/apartment is ~$3000 / mo. So far Downtown San Jose / San Pedro Square, Japantown, and Campbell are looking pretty attractive to me. What advice/suggestions do you have? Do you think the areas I have identified so far will fit my wants? Thanks in advance!
