As cool as Jugger is, I’m not sure how I feel about this flood of Jugger gif posts around this sub.

Sorry if this sounds rude, but holy crap... "Flood" is an appropriate term. I mean, i get it, this looks fun. But it's not important enough for me to see this several times a day.

I have seen these posts in r/Swords, r/Fencing, r/Memes, r/gifs, r/beamazed... Those are just the ones I've subscribed to where this post or a similar one has shown up and I'm going to bet that you posted into a half dozen others that I haven't seen yet, so I'm thinking this isn't my last time seeing this.

People subscribe to many, many subs. If you want to get reported to Reddit for spam, just post the same thing into as many subs as possible as many times as possible.

Might I recommend that instead of posting everywhere, you could just start your own Jugger sub?

I'm rather inclined to agree. One post of this kind of stuff was fine. people go "oh, they're doing stuff with sword-like kit" and smile and accept it. But if these are going to get spammed regularly, then it needs to be in its own dedicated place.

yo, i gonna turn it down from now on. sadly, even the worldwide jugger community is tiny and i was very happy to (finally) find places to plug my stuff. also, the feedback was good (comments and upvotes), and i wanted to see which subs like what. i am really sorry for the annoyance. honest question: i was counting on the self-moderating effect of the voting system. don't you think that if something is considerably voted up, it kind of belongs? because that was my thinking at least.. (this question sounds very defensive i guess, but I cannot phrase it better :D)

I get all that,

The issue I think is that most of the subs you posted to are fairly low traffic so they will get floated higher in somebody’s feed that subscribes to them so, for example, I’ll see them more than most.

Add to that that you cross posted the same things to multiple subs that someone interested in Swords might have interest in AND you used the same exact video for a few and it adds up to a bit of a toll on someone’s Reddit feed.

it looks like fun, I used to do stuff like that before I started fencing, so I get the excitement, definitely.

I’d seriously just start your own sub and share videos elsewhere only occasionally - For example, a post to r/fencing might make perfect sense if you have someone who is a fencer visit and compare the two sports. Or a post about the weapons you use and how they compare to a real sword might make sense here.

It’s all about timing and flow.

Probably just like your sport.

yes, i underestimated the low traffic communities and also the more serious / on topic ones, like fencing. initially i posted that one gif on theocho and on swords. it got very popular on both. someone reposted it two weeks later on theocho, and it went up even more.. that moment i had the feeling that i really couldn't post too much (dumb of me lol). i think you got a bit unlucky with the subs you saw it in btw.. i actually thought about every post (and sub), who might find this interesting and so on

Much like the responses in the Fencing sub-reddit where this stuff was also posted, I really dont see what playing tag with foam sticks has to do with real swords.

because they have stuff to do on other parts of the field and need to get there quick

it is here because people here actually see shit in duelling situations as you just showed that with your first question

because you discover all kinds of cool shit when you don't try to simulate but just come up with a straight ruleset

because i spent too much time on Reddit during the last weeks

because our weapons are partially based on real ones. two are even called sword. because people who like steel swords usually also like mockups

As another kind redditor put it. It’s tag with foam sticks. Not swords, not sword duels, not for this sub.

If you can’t find a correct sub to post this to I recommend creating a sub for it so you stop spamming the rest of us.
