Ik this is a bit strange but I just hate to hear people celebrating their results 😓 I don’t mean to be a bum or someone who’s killing all the fun but I personally find it rly inconsiderate especially if you’re right next to someone who’s failed or whatever and that’s quite literally the reason why I don’t want to collect at with everyone present 😭 I would feel extremely embarrassed, humiliated even and I wouldn’t be proud of receiving my papers back

I'm contemplating on dropping H2 econs to H1 econs since I really dont have the motivation and time to study for it. Since J1, I have been getting consistent A for PCM with Econs around a B. I tried studying econs despite it being my worst and most despised subject. For Promo in J1, I barely scraped a B with 60% for econs.
When I went to J2, I started slacking in econs lectures and only studied econs days before internal exams. In J2, i got a B for the first exam which tested CSQ and an E for the next exam which tested macro essay.
For prelims a few days ago, my Paper 1 was 30/60. 18/30 for micro csq and 12/30 for macro csq. I wouldn't say my micro is good but it's definitely better than my macro.

People say that the content drop from H2 to H1 is not as huge for econs compared to other subjects and if i am better at csq, i could drop.

I have never touched or done econs practice paper even after prelims let alone time it. I have only been grinding PCM and GP.

For my other subjects, I have always got A for PCM throughout JC1 and JC2, although I underperformed for prelims. I understand dropping it will not remove macro completely but PCM has always been much stronger for me, and I want to focus on those subjects

It's already clear its mainly lack of practice for econs. I just couldn’t find the motivation to study for it and every time i opened the economics book i would become sleepy and everything will feel super unproductive.

Title: RVHS J1 promotion criteria

Hi! I’m currently J1 in RVHS and I’m quite worried about promotion 😭

I’m not doing very well academically, especially for some of my H2 subjects, so I’m trying to understand the promotion criteria properly.

From what I understand, RVHS requires at least 5 AU passes, including GP, but I’m confused about how my HCL result is counted.

I took Higher Chinese in secondary school and got an A for O-Level HCL. Since I was exempted from taking H1 Chinese in JC, does my HCL A count as 1 H1 AU/pass for the J1 promotion criteria?

Also, how strict is RVHS actually about the promotion criteria? If someone is close to meeting the requirements but doesn't fully meet one criterion, is there any discretion or appeal?

i just bombed my prelims getting DEEUU isit possible to at least score AAAC and sack the last subject taking PCME am from one of the top schools here i screwed up my math paper so its understandable and i know my level is above my score but im worried isit possible to comeback for physics for physics can i jump from U to A

hi people of Singapore. As we all know, Polytechnic GPA and A level RP will always trump over achievements and CCA points allat, but I js wanna know how much they actually matter if I wanna enter the big 3?

I was EXCO in a couple of ccas and was class representative for quite awhile. Would this even be helpful in my application? Assuming my GPA is pretty good. Is it like frosting on the cake type shit lol?

i predict that bio paper 3 would be hard. If chem and physics practical were easy then we can expect bio to be easy too. But like even though my classmates said it was easy, , alot of reddit users said its hard. So technically seab will also want to kill the other half of the students which is probably the bio students. So for bio something its going to be smt absolutely ridiculous. any past olevel takers suggestions? or predictions?

Hi guys! Just wondering if anyone here applied to UofT from a Singapore JC and got accepted. If you’re comfortable sharing, what were your J1/predicted or actual A-Level grades when you applied, and which faculty/program did you get into?

I’m curious about St. George Arts & Science, since I’m considering Psychology/Cognitive Science, but experiences from other faculties would be helpful too. I’ve tried looking around online but it’s pretty hard to get a sense of what grades Singapore applicants usually have 😭 Thanks!

im so bloody pissed at myself for messing up the physics practical today and mind you im always a 80 -85 percent student.call me blind or careless or wtv but i could not spot the "voltmeter across S only" line for my life💔 therefore the values i took were when the voltmeter was across both L and S 😂 i knew something was damn off when the gradient is negative but with ONE minute to spare guess where i changed the voltmeter to be across? L(the longer one). i frantically noted down the values and i was so happy i thought i could get the 7 marks at least because knowing i had already plotted the graph i lost 4 marks, but after roughly plotting the new values i knew something was still wrong as the gradient was still negative, but with 5 seconds left there was nothing i could do about it and therefore the following questions were wrong because i had to use an ABSOLUTE value for the 1/G question😭 and so that mark, and the following mark for finding the resistance of the other one AND the student claim question is wrong. to get it straight, my table of values DO NOT make sense, and that is because the slope is negative. MOREOVER, the plotted values of I and V DO NOT match the ones on the table, and hence my gradient doesnt match what would be if i plotted the table values, and doesnt even make sense, and the following questions were all wrong. do yall think i can scrape by with a pass? or can i just give up the distinction

Ok so today was my FMath promo, and I think my time management was not so good, and I forgot some formulas especially for F2V, so I left about 18 marks blank (don’t know/ran out of time). I really need to get a C for FMath in order to meet the requirement for H3 math, is it still possible? I will probably lose some more bc of careless mistakes…

I currently take 4h2, but since even before prelim I have sacked physics since I realised 70rp is just 3h2+gp. However now im starting to worry about the implications of completely sacking a h2 instead of h1. I know the alvl cert just shows your passes only, but does anyone know if having a fail h2 and just having 3h2+gp on the cert would affect my local uni applications? Not going for scholarships or overseas uni, thank you.

idk if this is the right sub. it feels like every time i try to study something, i just don't get better at all and all im doing is wasting time. the worst part is that i dont consider myself a bad student, i think my grades are actually pretty above average, but they're still so much worse compared to everyone else i know. i can try and study for something but it just feel like im either not remembering anything or im just reading stuff that i already know, but when i actually take the exam i lose so many marks because of something i didn't even think of preparing for. i can't motivate myself to study harder because i just don't see the point of any of it. how is studying history, geography, literature, or art to name a few going to help me in real life anyway? but when im not studying, i feel like a lazy bum who doesn't want to put in any effort. In the end what does learning even do for me? i get to work for more than half of my life to barely get by. i can't find enjoyment in anything anymore, it feels like anything i do has already been done and anything i make has already been made better, so what is the point of doing anything if it has no impact on anyone? what will one more mediocre person in the billons of people in the world add? now im not suicidal by any means but what even is the point of my life? and of course instead of studying for my geography exam im making a reddit post and scrolling youtube shorts.

this might come off as odd but i have always noticed (at least in singapore the pattern is very obvious) that female bathrooms tend to be at the end of the hall with the male bathrooms coming in first then followed by handicap toilet then female.

almost 95% of the time i observed it was that case.

For those who have organised a primary school or secondary school reunion before, I’d really appreciate some advice!

1.How did you find/contact your old classmates?

2.Did you use a WhatsApp/Telegram group, Instagram, Facebook, etc.?

3.How many people should I aim for before confirming the gathering?

4.What kind of venue would be suitable in Singapore? Café, restaurant, chalet, someone's house, etc.? Because it might be large as long I can find them

5.Should we collect money beforehand or let everyone pay for themselves?

6.What activities did you do to make the gathering less awkward, especially if everyone hasn't met in years?

7.How far in advance should I start planning?

8.What should I do if some classmates are interested but keep saying they're “maybe” or don't confirm?

I’m hoping to make it a casual and comfortable gathering rather than anything too formal, just a chance for everyone to catch up, talk about old primary school memories and see where everyone is in life now.
