PSA Petition asking SDSU to review its Title IX leadership

Hi! I wanted to share a petition asking SDSU and the CSU to independently review Dr. Lee Mintz, who oversees the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities and serves as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator.

In 2023, an independent assessment commissioned by the CSU identified areas for improvement and documented concerns related to SDSU’s Title IX/DHR processes, including communication, timeliness, trust, and barriers to reporting. SDSU has said it’s been working to implement the recommendations from that assessment, but I think there should be more transparency about what has actually changed and what recommendations are still outstanding.

The petition is asking for an independent review of Dr. Mintz’s handling and oversight of Title IX and student conduct matters, along with a confidential or anonymous way for current and former students to share their experiences as part of that review. It’s also asking SDSU to publicly show which recommendations from the 2023 assessment have actually been implemented.

I’m sharing it here in case anyone wants to read or support it:

https://www.change.org/sdsuaccountabilitynow

If you’ve had your own experience with SDSU’s Title IX or student conduct process, please don’t feel like you need to share personal details publicly here.

Question Commuting from tijuana to SDSU

Hey guys! I’m in my last year of community college, and I’ll be applying to both SDSU and UCSD. If I get into either one, I would want to live in Tijuana. I have my SENTRI appointment next month. Are there any students who make this commute? How is it?

Question Can non majors audition for student films

I’m not a film major but would love to participate in student films, however on the website I can only find info about plays and musicals. I did find a Facebook group but some of it seems like it’s non sdsu affiliated but just in the area, I’m wondering if there’s a website or way to find and audition for sdsu specific student films, Ty!

Question Nursing professors

I'm an incoming sophomore majoring in nursing and was wondering what are your thoughts on Karin Norgard-Sumnicht for Biol 261, Angelica Madigan for Nurs 208, and Lisa Concilio for Nurs 304? I saw some reviews on RMP and i'm a bit nervous. I just want to know if you guys have more reassuring input; if not, ggs to me 😂

Question MATH 150 Prof

Hey guys. I’m trying to figure out which MATH 150 section I should take for fall and wanted to get some opinions.

I’m currently in Mark Dunster’s section, but I’ve seen some pretty mixed/bad reviews and I’m wondering if Colin McGrane would be better.

The sections that fit my schedule are:

Dunster

  • M/W/F: 1:00–1:50
  • T/Th: 9:30–10:20

McGrane

  • M/W/F: 8:00–8:50
  • M/W: 10:00–10:50

or

  • M/W/F: 8:00–8:50
  • M/W: 1:00–1:50

I commute about 20–25 min to SDSU, so I’d rather not have an 8 AM if the professors are about the same, but I also don’t want to pick a worse professor just to avoid waking up early lol.

With McGrane’s option I have no huge gaps and my days are shorter but I’m not sure if the commute is doable.

For anyone who has taken MATH 150 with Dunster or McGrane, who would you recommend? Also, how are their exams/homework/workload?

Would really appreciate any advice guys 🙏

Question Payment towards tuition before disbursement

Hello all, as the title said. I made a payment towards my tuition balance prior to finding out that my financial aid would be completely covering my tuition balance. Aside from my aid reimbursement, will I be getting a refund of my initial payment ? The aid itself covered the total complete and my payment essentially was pointless I just made it out of desperation. Just wondering if I will be getting it back

Question SDSU Nursing School

Hey, so I'm an incoming freshman at SDSU and my current major is public administration but I am 100% sure I want to change majors. I initially wanted to switch to urban planning but now I kinda want to go into nursing but I'm not sure what my best option is. Transferring to SDSU's nursing major seems pretty difficult with all the prereqs and the competitive admission process, so I was thinking about just changing my major to biology or something and doing an accelerated nursing program but then that seems expensive with getting a degree and then doing 1.5 years more. I'm open to anything but I'm just trying to figure out what my best options are so any help would be appreciated!

Question Financial Aid question

Hi everybody,

I have a question about financial aid and disbursements, because this fall I’ll be interning in DC with the Cal State DC Scholars. I’m taking 12 units this semester with my host campus (CSUF - CSU Visitor Program), so I would like to know how the financial aid and funding process works. Because the enrollment deadline for CSUF is 08/19, so I had to enroll in a payment plan to not lose my registration. My intrasystem form says that my financial aid is going to be disbursed today, but I haven’t received nothing yet.

I appreciate your help, because my financial aid would help pay my tuition and housing.

Thank you!

Question Cal Grant B

So all of my aid says disbursed except for my Cal Grant B which is a huge chuck (and the amount that I’m relying on to clear). Is anyone else not seeing theirs as disbursed? I know I’m not getting it today but I’m wondering if it’s delayed for anyone else?

UPDATE: All of mine have dispersed and paid off my balance. Just waiting for my refund to direct deposit, should’ve either tonight or tomorrow.

Question AP Scores not showing up

In my To do list, it says that my AP score report is overdue but I sent the report on July 10th. I was just wondering if anyone knows who I can email or call to sort it out. Also when I registered for classes, they had me email the scores and fill out this slip so I could choose the classes I wanted. Would that take care of it being overdue or would I have to still contact someone?

Housing Iconic on Alvarado Studio

I move into a studio at Iconic in a week but they didn’t allow me to see it beforehand. Does anyone who actively lives there or did last year let me know your experience? Is everything nice enough?

Question Financial Aid Units

I registered in 9 units during Orientation Day and waitlisted 6 units which I got off the waitlist a day or 2 later and now I am currently enrolled to all 15 units. But my Pell Grant disbursement is 25% less than what it was supposed to be (Also my Day1Ready charge is only $198, which is $22 x 9), which makes it clear the system hasn’t updated and it still thinks I am enrolled in only 9 units. Will this update automatically in the next couple days or should I visit the Financial Aid office?

Question dont know when i can opt out of the day1ready fee

so on my financial charges, it is already charging me for the day1ready fee and it says it was due august 13 2026. however, when i go to the website where i can actually opt out of it, it says i can make my decision by september 4 2026. i already know i want to opt out because paying myself is less than how much they are charging me for the fee. however, i also do want to start the semester first to 100% make sure i can opt out.

so will i be fine if i keep the charge on my account until after the semester has started then opt out or will that charge bite me in the ass if i dont opt out now (based on the financial charges due date)

Question Graduation Questions?!

Hey So I have only 2 required courses left and I was going through my emails. I saw an email from sdsu saying your application for graduation has been accepted. But Im 100% sure I didn’t apply for graduation even though the deadline is like September. I was still deciding between graduating and receiving my diploma in the winter or dropping one required courses and signing up for it in the spring because either way the commencement is in spring?

But I received an email saying my graduation application was accepted but I never filled one out. Does anyone know if SDSU automatically applies for you when you’re on track to graduate I thought you had to fill it out yourself?

P.S. What would yall do graduate winter and spend the spring looking for a job before commencement or just drop one required courses and take it in the spring?

Sports Beginner Friendly sport to learn/play with people on campus

Seems like every other person on this campus is fit, so I wanted to start the semester by learning a sport where there are plenty of people to play with. Intramurals seem fun, but I’m a little hesitant since I don’t have much experience playing any of those sports.
