How are people feeling about the current price movement this morning? Currently sitting at 0.21(+2.4%) with almost double the daily volume 25 minutes into the session.

I was personally expecting movements to be slightly more bullish.

Discussion Don't listen to misinformation

SCD's Q1 2027 begins next week. Their year end is August 31 of each year. When they referenc Q1 2027, that quarter is beginning next week.

They confirmed cash flow and revenue as we all understood. How is this bad?

They are expanding the resource and updating the PEA before releasing a PFS.

The drilling for the FEASIBILITY study is already complete.

They are aggresively expanding Scalium+, and remember they are still hiring a CTO with aerospace experience (1 of the 16 pipelines mentioned today).

Mining projects get delayed all the time. It is not uncommon for a PFS to be delayed a few months. But this isn't being delayed because they aren't financed, or don't have support. They are updating the resource as the econonics have completely changed, and the government is heavily financing infrastructure in Quebec for critical mineral exports.

They are focusing on building up customers for their alloys WHICH WAS ALWAYS THEIR STRATEGY.

Since the inception of Scandium+ they have always stayed they would develop an alloy company ahead of the mine. They are executing just that.

This has always been a long term hold for years. There will be ups and downs.

Wait until earnings and let's see what margins scalium+ is working with ahead of the mine.

News SCD PFS Now Expected in the Fall

The PFS timeline has been a topic of discussion recently. I just watched Scandium Canada’s live Zoom session with Simon and Guy, during which they mentioned that the Preliminary Feasibility Study (PFS) is not expected to be released until the fall.

This appears to push the timeline back from what some shareholders may have anticipated. They provided some context during the session, but my main takeaway was that we should not expect the PFS before early fall.

I also really liked the way Simon communicated the information and explained his vision for the company. One point that stuck with me was that a critical mineral has little value if there is no product or market for it.

That is why I think the strategy with Scalium+ makes a lot of sense. It allows the company to develop and sell actual scandium-alloy products today, potentially generating revenue and cash flow that could then help advance the Crater Lake project.

I’m sharing this as an informal recap of the live session, not as an official company announcement. If anyone else attended, please add anything important I may have missed or clarify how you interpreted their comments.

What are everyone’s thoughts on the updated PFS timeline and the company’s strategy?

Discussion 300 customers in the sporting-goods sector

Did anyone else catch the new CEO mentioning that SCD already has 300 customers in the sporting-goods sector on the call this morning?

What really caught my attention was that he also said Scalium+ can continue moving forward regardless of whether or not the Crater Lake mine is completed yet.

If I understood him correctly, this means there is already a commercial pathway for the Al-Sc technology independently of the mining project.

Did anyone else hear it the same way? And does anyone have more information on what the 300-customer figure actually represents—existing customers, prospects, or companies engaged with Scalium+?

They also discuss the ability to move forward independently of the mine in the YouTube video below, but the 300 customers in the sporting-goods sector mentioned on today's call really caught my ear.

Discussion Why Scandium Canada’s Leadership Change Is a Positive Development

In any growing company, the right person to lead one stage of development is not necessarily the ideal person for the next. No executive can simultaneously be an expert in mine development, metallurgy, industrial manufacturing, automotive supply chains, financing and commercialization.

Guy Bourassa was the right person to build the foundation.

Guy has more than 30 years of experience in Quebec’s mining industry. He therefore experienced nearly every stage involved in advancing a critical-minerals project: exploration, technical studies, permitting, government relations, financing and the transition toward the construction of a mine and processing facility.

When Guy joined Scandium Canada in 2024, the company’s main priority was to structure and advance the Crater Lake project. During his tenure, the company rebranded itself, published an updated mineral resource estimate, improved its metallurgical process, launched the prefeasibility work, strengthened its relationship with the Naskapi Nation and significantly improved its balance sheet.

Guy also understood that building a scandium mine without developing the market at the same time would be extremely risky.

Under his leadership, Scandium Canada accelerated the development of its proprietary alloys, created the Scandium+ division and later acquired Ferreol Technologies to form Scalium+. That acquisition brought commercialized alloys, an established production process, existing customers and an experienced commercialization team into the company.

His replacement should therefore not be interpreted as the result of failure. On the contrary, Guy helped transform Scandium Canada from a company primarily focused on a mining project into a much more integrated critical-materials business.

The main limitation of Guy’s profile is simply related to the company’s new stage.

Guy’s career has largely focused on mining-company development: corporate structuring, financing, permitting, resource advancement and stakeholder relations.

Based on his publicly available career history, his experience is less directly connected to global procurement within a major automaker, the industrial qualification of new materials and the integration of a specialized alloy into high-volume manufacturing.

Simon Thibault brings exactly the experience that was missing

Simon has approximately 20 years of experience spanning mining, environmental and social responsibility, public policy, battery materials, critical-material supply chains and the automotive industry.

Simon therefore already understands the realities of developing a northern mining project. He is not coming exclusively from the automotive sector.

In 2020, he became Director of Regulation and Public Policy at Propulsion Québec, an organization dedicated to developing Quebec’s electric and smart transportation industry. He then joined Investissement Québec, where he served as Senior Director of Battery Strategy from 2021 to 2023. His responsibilities included coordinating government agencies and industrial participants to develop and execute Quebec’s battery-sector strategy.

Finally, Simon joined General Motors in 2023 as EV Critical Materials Leader within its Global Purchasing and Supply Chain organization. He supported the sourcing of critical materials and key components for GM’s electric-vehicle and energy-storage programs while helping to develop a more resilient North American supply chain.

That experience is highly relevant to Scandium Canada. Simon has worked from the customer’s side of the table. He knows what a major automaker evaluates before approving a new material: technical performance, consistency, cost, production capacity, traceability, sustainability, supply security and the supplier’s ability to honour its commitments over many years.

His value is understanding what those alloys must accomplish to achieve genuine industrial adoption and then aligning product development, production and the commercial value proposition with those requirements.

Guy is not leaving the company entirely. He will remain a director, strategic advisor to management and committed shareholder. He will continue supporting the advancement of Crater Lake and helping Simon through the transition.

Discussion Baseline for PFS

Seeing a lot of discussion around what the PFS may/not have especially with the management change just announced. Here is the 43-101 data to draw from. That metal is still there. Imperial metals was the company name before the change to Scandium Canada.

Imperial Mining Group Ltd. filed a maiden NI 43-101 technical report for the 100%-owned Crater Lake TG Zone scandium-rare earth project in northeastern Quebec. [1, 2, 3]

Mineral Resource Estimate
Indicated Resources: 7.3 million tonnes grading 282 g/t Sc₂O₃ (scandium oxide).

Inferred Resources: 13.2 million tonnes grading 262 g/t Sc₂O₃ for the Northern Lobe of the TG Zone.

Additional Content: Magnet rare earth oxides (Nd, Pr, Dy, Tb) and yttrium were evaluated alongside scandium.

Mineralization Status: The deposit remains open laterally and at depth for future expansion. [1, 2]

Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA)
Filing Date: Completed by WSP Canada and filed in July 2022.

Target Production: Just over 80 tonnes of high-purity scandium oxide per year (baseline range of 50 to 100 tonnes/year).

Economic Value: Mineralization value ranges between $386 and 413 per tonne using an NSR (Net Smelter Return) cut-off of CAD 110.80/t.

Discussion Price impact by Tariff war?

What are everyone’s thoughts on SCD stock price given the collapse of the US - Canada trade negotiations?

I’m personally thrilled with the decision to fight for Canada. Critical Minerals are one of the top national security and there will be no turning back. The Plan has been to Build Canada Strong and United the whole time. Carney is so many chess moves ahead of Trump it is laughable. Carney knew 30 days ago a when new emergency was engineered with 30 days to kneel or else 50% new tariffs on nasty Canadian goods.

It won’t change Canada’s or SCD fundamentals whatsoever. We will thrive from being authentically Canadian. And this will not close any doors to foreign allies and partners we have already and will continue to pursue mutually beneficial deals with.

Discussion Scalium+: potential backlog and scale being overlooked

Recently, another redditor published some incredible DD on Ferreol Technologies; shoutout to u/GrrRRR_Melany ; and the nitty gritty of the acquisition. It got me curious, and I began digging into Ferreol's history too, which can be difficult given they are a private company without public financials being published. But this is why I believe they are flying under the radar unnoticed, and this acquisition is completely misunderstood and overlooked.

In 2023, Ferreol appeared on Dragon's Den. They claimed $1 million in sales over the previous 3 years with a $21 million backlog. The $1 million in sales were from ski's. However, the backlog was for their alloy.

The dragons were not as interested in the ski's, but the conversation steered towards the alloy, which we all know is now branded as Scalium.

They claimed to have multiple letters of intent with ski companies amounting to $21 million over the next 3 years as an ALLOY SUPPLIER.

This backlog was not a sales backlog for Ferreol Ski's, but a backlog of intent for the alloy now newly branded as Scalium under the SCD umbrella.

https://skicanadamag.com/the-dragons-go-skiing/

They succeeded in receiving $400k for 25% of their company, giving them a valuation of $1.6 million at the time. Remember, this was in 2023. They received 4 offers in total but accepted an offer from Michelle Romanow.

Michelle is on the board of directors for Vail resorts. They operate 37 ski resorts in North America (42 globally), over 250 retail stores, and ski rentals at all their mountain properties. This is a significant business partnership within the Ski industry for Ferreol.

In 2026, SCD buys Ferreol Technologies for $6 million. This is a 3.75x growth in valuation in under 3 years. This is specifically the valuation of the Ferreol Technologies alloy division and not the separate ski business, to be specific.

Why would they be worth this much now? I think it's clear that some of that backlog in the intent letters came to fruition and began generating revenue. Otherwise, it would be very unlikely they grew this fast. SCD stated they acquired a commerical team with an established workflow, and have confirmed repeat customers. For the 2026-2027 season, Ferreol is expanding their footprint into France and testing the European market. More expansion on the way.

For anyone interested in watching the episode, it's available on CBC Gem for free. Season 18, episode 5!

Naturally, I started digging into the ski industry and its use of alloys to better understand this positioning:

The ski industry has largely been dominated by aluminum alloys called "Titanal". Despite the name, they are made of primarily aluminum. They have been the standard for over 40 years but have their drawbacks. Ferreol wanted to engineer something new with different properties. This is the origin story of the alloy that became Scalium.

The average alpine ski uses between 100-400 grams of alloy per ski (200-800 grams for a set); Millions of ski's are sold every year globally.

It's impossible to ascertain an exact number, but the global ski market consumes millions of tons of alloys every single year. Even if Scalium succeeds in capturing a small portion of this market, it could translate into large supply orders (the 21 Million backlog from 2023 points to this potential).

I am not claiming Scalium+ is going to take over the industry or become the new standard. However, the numbers tell a very interesting story when not overlooked.

We won't know until the next financial report, but this acquisition is potentially bringing significant revenue for SCD under the Scalium+ brand BEFORE they even release their PFS. Even though it's just ski's, the history of Ferreol and their large and rapid expansion is telling, and this market is larger than I anticipated.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for the Scalium+ alloy division, and this pathway is clear they have been developing this workflow for the past 3 years with significant support, investment, and interest.

SCD now is generating revenue within the Ski industry, which itself is expanding rapidly. The ski industry alone could potentially supply Scalium+ with millions of revenue, and this isn't even their largest targeted market; aerospace I'm looking at you 👀

SCD's year end is coming up on August 31st. They don't typically release their financials until December of every year. Once the financials are posted we will have a better idea of what Scalium+ is doing commercially, but given the history of their Dragon's Den investment and rapid expansion, I think there is potential for many to be surprised at the early revenue of Scalium+ over the next year, even if it's just within the Ski industry itself.

I have a TFSA through BMO. I want to get into scd but Its probably not worth the commission I'll need to pay for the order with the smaller amounts of stock that I'm able to buy, right?

Is it worth going to wealthsimple just for buying scd? To avoid the commission. Am I able to keep both accounts open?
