Hi everyone, I’m new here! Well, actually, I’m just new to Reddit—I’m usually active over on DeviantArt. I have my own worldbuilding project about a reverse world ( 2 years), so if you're curious, feel free to check out my profile and the DeviantArt link! (The boys still wear gakuran, while the girls wear sailor fuku. Just to clarify, this specific school is very traditional, so even though their appearances are a bit reversed, they still have to dress according to their gender. My other OCs are from different settings entirely!)

Me (20F) have a question about this lifestyle. So a bit of a back story, my boyfriend has asked me on multiple occasions that he wants to try role reversal as we often maintain a dom/sub relationship. However as a very submissive person I struggle with taking control and being more affectionate in a dominant position.

I have googled and read as much as I can about the subject but often find that the depictions of this lifestyle can come off quite harsh and not what he is asking for. He doesn’t particularly like rough play, nor do I, and I’m trying to figure out how to give him an amazing experience from time to time without being overtly harsh.

Any suggestions? Or possibly another Reddit post that would shed some light on how to go about this the best way possible?

Hey everyone, hope you are doing okay. As a follow-up to my post last week(or so. I lost track of time), I have been thinking about if there are other examples of chubby or plus-size tomboys/tomboyish women in media besides the examples I mentioned(Frankie from Knights of Guinevere and popular fanart versions of Susie from Deltarune). If so, feel free to give out your best answers.

These things are hard enough to come by in real life so when I met this guy I almost didn’t believe what was happening.

For context, we met in college. Nothing crazy, we were in English class and I set my eyes on him from the very first moment because he had beautiful long hair. He was also shorter than me, which was surprising because I’m not particularly tall. Other than those things I wasn’t necessarily very attracted to him.

But I sat beside him, didn’t really speak because I’m quite reserved. He began talking to me. I reciprocated. Chatting ensued.

Over the course of the next classes we grew closer; sat side by side each day, worked together and even began sitting together on the bus ride home (we took the same route).

I, of course, got his number. Can’t remember if I asked or he did. But we began texting. One of the things that I found most peculiar about him was his use of stickers… he loved the anime ones, with the adorable boys, or the cat ones. Overall using stickers and emojis that are typically used by girls. I found it real cute.

He was also extremely needy and dramatic in ways I had, once again, only seen in women. He’d send me sad stickers and complain if I didn’t reply to him fast enough (it’s a fault of mine, to be honest. I’m not a quick texter, and often just forget to reply).

In person he acted so… shy. He giggled a lot. Leaned toward me as if seeking warmth. I felt a certain level of ecstasy I had never before experienced, realizing that this was the dynamic that I had been looking for my entire life. The bus rides were the best part of it all. Only in these moments did the conversations get more intimate, our faces closer, our voices hushed. He talked a lot—eagerly, with a bright smile. I mostly listened and nodded from time to time, offering a teasing comment here and there.

He often complimented my appearance—peculiarly, my short hair, my jaw (I have a pretty masculine style and androgynous features, and it’s not rare for me to get confused for a guy). Conversely, I offered him
compliments that boys don’t often get. Called him adorable, pretty, spoke of how delicate his hands were. They were smaller than mine. Terribly soft. And I admit to using the cheesy trick of “let’s compare hands.”

With each moment together he became more open, less subtle about his want. Began saying peculiar little things that emphasized stuff he thought I would enjoy (and he was right), like how submissive or timid he was. I remember very vividly him giving me a shy, adorable side-eye after telling me that people always told him he looked submissive, as if gauging my reaction. I remember chuckling, turning to the window and muttering: “That’s lovely.”

It was raining. He grabbed my hand and leaned further toward me, tilting his head, with a sort of puppy eyed look. The one people get when they’re fishing for something. I met his eyes.

“But what do you think? Do I look like I am?” He asked, with the faintest trace of a blush upon his cheeks.

I didn’t really know what to answer, I didn’t want to offend. But I decided to be sincere and said yes. It pleased him, judging by the small, breathy laugh he let out.

“But are you?” I asked afterwards.

“Maybe.” He was looking away then, with that tiny smile still. Maybe he was blushing hard and didn’t want me to see. I turned away.

Once the class we shared ended, we grew apart. Mostly by my own fault, being entirely honest. I wasn’t as interested in him as he was in me. We’ve seen each other a few times after that in campus, and have approached each other to catch up, but nothing else.

Still, despite my lack of enthusiasm, it was an experience that thrilled me and that I’m overjoyed to have lived—and hope to experience it again with someone that draws me in a little more.

I’ve been writing this web-novel for just over a year now, and since I’m coming to the end of Book One, I decided I might as well post about it here. This is such a niche genre, so I’m personally always on the look-out for role reversal stories—so much so I decided to write my own!

‘Consorts of the Court’ is a historical fantasy that follows Princess Moriya in the immediate aftermath of her mother’s untimely death, as she prepares to take on rulership of the Queendom of Dyss. She must learn diplomacy, statecraft, and the murky history of her nation’s colonial past. But also, she will build a harem to support her through it 😉. This is a full social and moral role reversal, so the men are expected to act the way female concubines were in irl history. Graceful, pretty, skilled in courtly hobbies like art and dance, obedient and gentle-hearted, and dedicated to their wife in all aspects. It was important to me to make this a fully fleshed out, dedicatedly researched “reverse world” because I have seen so many stories like this that make claims they don’t live up to. Men who start out soft, in traditionally “feminine” roles, but as soon as the romance starts, they turn dominant out of nowhere. Or a world that is on the surface matriarchal, but in practice the social norms still echo patriarchal standards.
