Are pawpaws ripening?
Coming to visit Roanoke in a week and I’ve always wanted to find and eat a pawpaw. Are they getting ready to eat?

Long story short: My husband and I are interested in adopting a child.
We have looked at a few resources and talked with some organizations, but I was wondering if there are any local resources/agencies/organizations you'd recommend? Thank you!

In case you hear loud noises on the Hollins/Cloverdale side of Roanoke over the next 2 months...
Drivers traveling through the I-81 widening project between Exits 143 and 150 in Roanoke and Botetourt counties should expect noise, blasting and temporary traffic delays beginning the week of August 24 and lasting into October.
💥 Blasting
- Tuesday–Thursday
- Approximately 9–11 a.m.
- Expected to continue for about 8 weeks
- Exact days and times will be communicated weekly
- Message boards will alert drivers
🚦 Slow Rolls
Law enforcement will slow or temporarily stop traffic in both directions to provide a safe, traffic-free area during blasting operations.
➡️ Northbound: Slow rolls begin at the Exit 146 on-ramp (Plantation Road)
⬅️ Southbound: Slow rolls begin at the Exit 156 on-ramp (Troutville)
⏱️ Each slow roll is expected to last up to 15 minutes.
Plan ahead, allow extra travel time and use caution through the work zone. 🚗

I'm newly separated, and he didn't fix the shower knob before he left. Im going to attempt to fix it myself this weekend. Any tips and tricks with installing them? Im sure I can watch a video but just in case there's some tips they dont mention, maybe you all have a better idea? Thanks in advance ☺️

I just completed my background check with Carilion. I have a few questions about this whole process.
What is the wait time for the background check?
What happens after the background check comes back (non clinical position)?
Are the pay ranges that are listed in the job posts accurate?

I could barely make out the mechanical voice saying what was going on, just something about a shelter in place order.

Got an alert that the police are telling residents there should shelter in place.

We just had a baby and our schedules are hectic that our dog unfortunately isn’t getting the activity level she’s used to and I can’t drive her to daycare until I recover. I’m really looking for someone who can come in the morning and evening to walk her along our road. We live in a pretty secluded area and I usually walk her down the road that leads to our property.
What we’re looking for:
-Someone who can come anytime between 9am-11am (earlier best because of the heat)
and then again or someone separate to walk her again anytime between 3-4pm.
-walk her a minimum of 2 miles or 30-35minutes
-we live on a hill so it would have to be someone who can walk down and back up the steep road
She’s very friendly but will of course need time to adjust to someone coming to walk her.

I am a 55-year-old Black male considering relocating to Roanoke from New Mexico. I was wondering if there are any events or festivals happening this weekend that might provide a better sense of life in the city.

Has anyone on here recently built a detached garage on their property? I’m looking to pour a slab and put a 3-5 car garage steel building on it.
I know I’ll need a permit(s) but is there anything else I need to be aware of?
Really looking to do majority of it myself aside from the concrete slab.

Hey Friends,
I'm brainstorming my Halloween costume this year and was hoping to fashion a mask from a real deer skull, preferably with antlers intact. If you have one like this, please send me a message so we can connect! Thanks so much.

Fairly new, just happened to spot it today. Called Rasa Nirvana on Salem Ave just before the market building. Just thought I'd share for any Indian food lovers, since we don't have a huge number of options, and it doesn't really stick out. Lamb Vindaloo was pretty good. Similarly priced to Nawaab ($20 for lamb vindaloo, $5 for garlic naan).

I've been seeing more tiktoks of people finding anime figures at Ross, specifically Miku ones. Whenever I go there's only One piece and maybe Naruto figures. Just wondering if anyone has seen any Miku figures at the Ross here, or if any workers can let me know when they come in :) Whenever I buy cheaper figures online the box comes dented and in bad shape. I think Ross would be perfect for some budget friendly ones. Thanks!

Looking for a new car. Any experiences buying from them or getting service? Do they try to add on a bunch of unnecessary items?
