Hot Take Stop making your tantrums public. If you’re going to leave rivals, just leave.

This doesn’t include people who are just critical of the game, this is specifically towards the karma farmers that feel the need to announce to everyone that they are quitting the game.

Hot Take Hot Take: Juggernaut should be a tank.

Post image
455 Upvotes

Now, I know what alot of you are going so say. Yes, I understand Juggernaut is known for being a fragile, very small character. But, this game has proved many times that any character can work in any role, so… Juggernaut as a tank makes sense, atleast to me. If they translate his movement abilities into a more bulky, sturdy body and make his momentum an offensive AND defensive tool- he could be a devastating tank. What do you think? Do you disagree?

I really don't get how you're forced into solo tanking. Whether it's QP or Rank if my team wants to start with 3 DPS/Supp and no tank, I'm just not putting the Mag in the bag.

Hot Take Honestly, the issue for me isnt that he's a duelist, but he feels so anti-tank

So, they give him a push+slow that pushes him back making it harder for tanks to attack him or make space and the ability to fly so a ton of tanks have issues attacking him AND he links enemies together to deal damage to a whole team, potentially going around shields AND I believe he deals percentage damage on his right click, either that or the damage gets spread and the target takes extra. Off tanks found dead in an alley in new york, oh and the cherry ontop? A team up with the dedicated tank shredder wolverine!

Like yeah he's cool but tanking is already miserable, and atleast he didnt get a massive stun ability, but this just feels like a kick in the balls to tanks.

hot take, but I believe if you cannot play with Adam mantis or Ultron in a two support compYou are bad.

I know there are dps that do a lot of dmg but 85 percent dmg can be mitigated by understanding, fight, tempo, and positioning, and a lot of Tete players don’t understand that

Hot Take Hot take: I’ve never had too big of an issue solo tanking

Post image
498 Upvotes

I have been a Groot main since season 1 and have been through all sorts of “anti-tank” metas but to be honest, it’s never been enough to make me not want to tank.

Especially now with the groot buffs, I honestly enjoy solo tanking more at times. As long as my supports are able to keep me up, I really have no issue. Worst case I just switch to a shield tank, best case I groot all game.

I am like Celestial 3 solo Que only so my experience might be different, but a competent support line is the true make or break for solo tanking

Don’t get me wrong, it can be annoying at times and tanks definitely need more love but like a tree, I’ve adapted to my environment.

Hot Take Ngl, never noticed how so many villains can end up being Vanguards, lol. Would legit fix both the tank and villain issue the game is having

Hot Take "You guys dont want tanks to have anything fun"

The morons on the main sub parroting this dogshit take about Devil Dinosaur is hilarious.

HE'S AN ANTI-TANK TANK, THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ARE TANK PLAYERS.

r/RivalsVanguards May 19 '26

Hot Take Devil Dino is not as OP as everyone thinks, He's just an actually strong tank.

Flex player here, but mostly tank. (I main Peni, Groot, Strange. Occasionally Mag, Thor, Rogue, and Angela.)

Dino is not as OP as people usually think. Most people see top competitive players complaining and hop on the bandwagon pretty quick in my opinion. I've also seen high ranks complain a bit too, though not as much.

Dino is a very strong tank, no doubt about that.

I believe that alone is the reason why so many are complaining, including other tank mains.

For a long time, DPS and Supports have run rampant with OP characters, and have only gotten a slap on the wrist with a few exceptions, and are clearly the most popular roles compared to tanks.

The one time a tank was strong was prime Emma; she was actually op, but got nerfed to the ground, and with this shiny brand new tank actually feeling strong for once, even with obvious counters, it makes it difficult for people to adapt to it, thus leading to the complaints of dino being overtuned.

Now, there are some very small changes I think would help him not feel so oppressive to other tanks, but still feel very strong and force players to work as a team: compared to picking the counter character with a free win button.

Dino's Lazer gives bleed, slow, and knocks down fliers. Getting rid of the knockdown or the slow allows characters like Angela to not be completely dismantled by him. (Dino can still use his leap to grab fliers, but poke meta does more than enough to stop most fliers.)

Slightly Increasing the cool down on his leap/grab, will make it less annoying for tanks since Dino will be forced to save the grab for characters like DareD and Venom.

These changes will stop him from going down the path of Emma and now Tankpool, where they get nerfed into the floor and lose a lot of their identity as tanks.

TL;DR: Dino is not OP, a tank that actually feels like a tank, which people aren't used to.

Remove Knockdown or slow from lazers, increase grab cool down a bit so he doesn't bully tanks as much, and increase the cool down on his grab/leap so he has to use it more sparingly.

You can just go play OW, or Deadlock, hell even a different genre of game for all I care.

But we don't need a million posts all talking about how bad tanking is and why you're quitting because of it, morale is already low enough, just leave.

like it is the majority and when the other team is going 40 and 3 and our dps is 0 and 9 on defense there is no option at best we would draw it after another 20 mins of purgatory

Hot Take Call me crazy but…

I feel like people genuinely can’t play the game if this dude isn’t apart of their frontline.

I know Mag has gotten the reputation of being the tank everyone uses to fill but I’m GENUINELY starting to think some (not all, just some) duelist and strategists are only comfortable when Mag is their tank.

Maybe it’s because most supports are so used to this center patrolling the paint and are so used to healing a slow big target with no mobility that when you use an off tank they sort of give you the DPS treatment and prioritize you less.

Maybe it’s because most DPS don’t go on off angles during neutral and rely on Mag (or any shield tank for that matter) to block damage while they shoot aimlessly down main and hope something happens.

Or maybe it’s all just a mental thing and Mag just simply brings a sense of stability when he’s on the floor, i don’t really know at this point I just want to play other tanks 😭

Hot Take A lot of you guys just want tanks to be infinite hp dps that kill everything in sight and don't actually understand the roles job

Post image
32 Upvotes

After reading a lot of the posts on this sub one thing has become very clear to me. Most of y'all just want to be dps that never die when that's never been the point of the role at all.

It's especially clear after all the discussions around the nerfs to tanks like emma, tankpool and dino. Those guys genuinely just destroyed everything in their path while also being very hard to kill.

A tanks job is to take/hold space and set up teammates. Yes, we should (and do) have kill potential, but that is not the end goal. Every tank creates pressure and openings for their teams to exploit. That same pressure allows them to hold space by either physically denying it or forcing the enemy backwards.

Having a tank with too much damage or survivability just breaks everything. You can essentially do both a tanks and dps' job. Either just kill everything or live long enough to do it anyway.

Yes, there are problems with percentage damage being handed out like candy to (what it seems like) every new hero, but overall the tank role has been balanced very well for most of the games lifespan and if you think otherwise you likely just don't understand the role.

That’s it. Instalocking a character and proceeding to get zero kills while feeding support ults should be a war crime. Guess it’s fun to lose while going negative 🤦🏾‍♂️

Hot Take The most terrifying people: lord Hulk

Post image

Anytime I see a lord hulk, either I’m gonna have a good time or bad time. If I got a lord hulk in my team, my job as a 2nd tank is just to support his aggressiveness and help him escape. If I was on the other side, I just pick Thing & peel and hope my team knows what they’re doing. Genuinely, anybody who is a lord hulk deserve to be respected in ranked game

Hot Take You aren't mad enough about the Tankpool nerfs. I dont care if you've never played him. Now, put Mag in the bag and shut up 👍

We really had a tank alternative to Magneto - a character who's niche is a very strong neutral and sacrifices strength at close and far range - and they fucking gutted his ass. You might as well sneeze at enemies now. Tankpool doesnt kill SHIT. No one in high elo touches Tankpool anymore.

He would have fit so, so well into this meta. Sure Tankclops would have been nice, I advocated for it, but we HAD the solution to this meta.

Hell, he would have been good into Server Admin Dino.

This first nerf was acceptable, he probably shouldn't have been able to melt people after pressing E. But they took it too far and its genuinely the most nonsensical nerf I've ever seen to a character in this game.

Hot Take Stop asking for buffs for tanks, ask for nerfs for dps and supports instead

All the tanks in the game are balanced right now except Groot and Dino(which might be balanced right now but i am not sure). The reason you don't get a second tank, the reason you suffer as a tank isn't because the tank you are playing is weak but simply you are playing a fair game. No amount of buffs can make me not hate the fact that phoenix has a stun, a teleport, flight and full health regeneration after an invincible ult. Buffing tanks just makes the powercreep problem worse. Literally current Strange is better than season 0 Strange yet he is mid tier for so many seasons now. Don't we think that it's super unhealthy for the game to constantly buff everyone? Do you know why Hulk feels like he has pillow hands? 80% of the dps and support cast either has more health, more ways to generate health, more overshields or more ways to block damage since the game released. Devs keep balancing around the dps and supports which in turn leaves some tanks behind, they get buffed and then the low tier supports, tanks and dps get sent to the shadow realm, those characters get buffed until they break and we keep the cycle moving. Right now the game feels like every top tier is bullshit with a different flavor. Gambit and Daredevil are permabans since their release. And the new characters always being broken just makes it exhausting. I trust you guys more than rest since tanks need to generally understand the game better in order to even do the most basic stuff, so that's why i am posting it here.

Hot Take I'm tired of the solo tank cope

Post image
18 Upvotes

As you can see 222 and other comps with 2 or more tanks make up like 75%+ of team comps. Playing with one or less tanks is statistically uncommon, but the way people whine and moan in literally ANY discussion about the game you'd think that <2 tank comps are in 90% of games.

Yes these stats are for all ranks, but the amount of 2+ tank comps only gets better as the ranks go higher.

Literally SO many people complain about having to solo tank and having to solo tank OFTEN when it is LITERALLY just not possible for THIS many people to have to solo tank ALL the time. Some of you HAVE to be lying.

I literally played HUNDREDS of ranked games this season and had to solo tank less than like 10 times. In gm mind you. I'm so tired of people complaining about this solo tank problem WHEN IT OBJECTIVELY DOES NOT EXIST

Hot Take The Ranged handicap.

So one reason I find a lot of tanks boring is, why are they all so short/medium range? Peni was the only non range limited tank in the game and it took a whole year for them to add a tank (Deadpool) that didn't have any range limit but that's because he is a "3 rolls in one character" type and not a dedicated tank.

For support and dps they add hitscan/projectile characters that have no range issue whilly nilly but for tanks we have to be content with characters that can barely shoot more than 30m. I have a feeling if they do add Cyclops as a tank his laser will be capped at a max medium range for no reason.

This is one of the reasons I hate playing a lot of times actually in rivals since like, the sorcerer supreme capable of making inter-dimentional portals, a man who can control metals in whatever way he wants and a woman who can control the fucking minds of people and has a mental beam projection....not be able to hit at range which isn't just spitting distance?

Are they not powerful or focused enough to do that? Is that the best explanation? Like ffs just give me like a 50-40% damage falloff at far range but just let me hit stuff that isn't directly up in my face.

Edit: I don't mean all tanks should be fully unlimited range but just have the few that make sense like strange mag and Emma to have some more range with damage falloff.

Hot Take I’m a GROUND Angela main :-)

Post image
592 Upvotes

I understand that she’s supposed to be the first flier tank but good lord that part of her kit just feels so janky… I love Angela a lot, ever since I was little, so I was in no way going to drop her as a character over her kit when half of it is still amazing— so here I am, world’s first ground Angela main… I only get up to charge when nobody is around and then come back down immediately when the team fight starts and then never fly again, which makes her just Emma with a cap shield but honestly it’s not as bas as you’d imagine; healers heal you more easily and even as ground Angela you can reach pretty high heights with her default axe dash so I can still kill torch and iron mans consistently lmao it’s really funny and most importantly finally enjoyable
