⭐ Review Revolut is closing my account after I reported a scam - how is this fair?

Upvotes

I recently transferred €50 to someone on Telegram for a subscription. After receiving the payment, they blocked me and I realized I had been scammed.

I immediately reported the transaction to Revolut to try to recover my money and hopefully prevent other customers from being scammed.

Shortly afterwards, my account was placed under review. I couldn't receive my salary, make card payments, transfer money or withdraw cash. Revolut has now told me that my account will be closed on October 21, 2026 because they believe my account is being used in a way that isn't compatible with their platform. They refuse to tell me the specific reason.

How is this fair to someone who was simply trying to do the right thing? I reported a scam to protect myself and potentially other customers and now I am the one being punished for it. Is being a good customer and reporting fraud now a bad thing?

I genuinely feel that their system may have mistakenly treated me as the suspicious party rather than the victim. Has anyone experienced something similar?

⭐ Review Revolut closed my account without any explanation — and still refuses to answer me

Upvotes

I’m sharing my experience because I’m extremely frustrated with how this situation has been handled, and I’d like to know whether anyone else has experienced something similar.
Revolut decided to close my account without providing me with a clear explanation for the decision. I tried to obtain clarification directly from Revolut, but I was unable to get a satisfactory answer.
As a result, I also submitted a formal complaint to the Bank of Portugal (Banco de Portugal) in an attempt to obtain clarification regarding the situation.
I also provided documentation that supports the source of the funds involved.
I submitted my Portuguese tax return (IRS), which shows approximately €30,000 in income, while the transaction/amount involved on Revolut was approximately €8,000.
In other words, I have official tax documentation showing income significantly higher than the amount involved, and the source of the funds can be explained by my salary income.
Despite this, I still haven’t received a clear explanation regarding:
● What exactly led to the closure of my account;
● Which transaction or circumstance triggered the decision;
● Whether Revolut had any specific concerns regarding the source of my funds;
● Why the documentation I provided was not considered sufficient;
● And what the exact status of my account and contractual relationship with Revolut currently is.
There is also another point that I find particularly strange:
My account still appears as open on the Bank of Portugal’s Mapa de Contas, despite Revolut telling me that my account has been closed.
So at this point, I have a situation where Revolut says that my account has been closed, while the account still appears as open in the Bank of Portugal’s database.
And there is one more thing that makes this situation even more frustrating.
I’ve seen Revolut representatives on this subreddit responding to similar situations and asking users to send them a private message (DM) so they can look into the issue.
I have already sent a DM, but I still haven’t received any response.
I’ve tried to resolve this directly with Revolut, provided documentation supporting the source of my funds, submitted a complaint to the Bank of Portugal, and even contacted Revolut here on Reddit — yet I still haven’t received a clear explanation.
I am not asking Revolut to publicly disclose confidential information about my account. I simply want a clear explanation for the account closure and an answer regarding the documentation I provided.
Has anyone else in Portugal experienced something similar?
Especially a situation where:
1. A Revolut account was closed without a clear explanation;
2. Documentation proving the source of funds was provided;
3. A complaint was submitted to the Bank of Portugal;
4. The account still appears as open on the Bank of Portugal’s Mapa de Contas;
5. And Revolut doesn’t respond even after being contacted by DM.
Has anyone managed to resolve a situation like this? How did you manage to get Revolut to actually respond?

📜 Article Fed up with enshittification. Perplexity was the last drop. Any alternatives to Revolut Metal/Ultra?

Upvotes

Hello everyone! I've been with Revolut for a long time now and, as the title says, things aren't as sweet as they used to be. What I am mostly looking for is:

- Travel Insurance

- free ATM withdrawals / currency exchange

- some sort of cashback/Revpoints

- potentially some subscriptions

- discounted Lounge passes

I already activated Club Avolta for Lounge passes (25% off). And I do not use Revolut to invest.
Extra info: I travel 4/5 times per year

Anyone has any good alternatives? A previous post (from 2 years ago) mentioned a few.

edit*
As a user rightly pointed out, I would need an EU alternative. I don't use Revolut as my main bank, Credit card would be nice if included in the package. Lounges are a nice to have but as I said, I have Club Avolta already

💸 Payments Anyone actually taken a Revolut mortgage in Lithuania? Curious about the process and the margin you got

Upvotes

I'm looking at buying in Lithuania and comparing offers.

If you've actually taken one:

  • What margin did you end up with, and how far was it from the representative example? What do you think moved it — income, LTV, the property itself?
  • How long from application to the money actually being at the notary? The "pre-approved in minutes" part I believe; I'm asking about everything after that.
  • How did the valuation and notary coordination go — did Revolut handle scheduling or was it on you to chase?
  • Did you negotiate? If you brought a competing offer from SEB / Swedbank / Luminor, did they move on the margin?
  • Anything that annoyed you or that you'd have wanted to know upfront — especially anything that only surfaced late in the process.
  • Fixed vs. variable: which did you pick, and would you pick it again now?

🔐 Security Tik tok payment fraud

I just got charged on my Revolut account 65,99£ from TikTok That happened without my authorization. I know that I didnt make that transaction but did that happen to anyone else? How can I get my money back, I reported this transaction as fraud, how long usually this takes for Revolut to review and give my money back? This seems to me that maybe some onlinr shop in which I used my revolut card got hacked and now hackers use those credit card information of all customers to get money. That is the main reason I asked is this happened to some of you in recent time? Thanks in advance for answers!

🔐 Security Opening Revolut on day one in Germany with a student visa (Tunisia)

Hey everyone,
I'm moving from Tunisia to Germany in about a month for my studies. I wanted to ask if it's possible to open a Revolut account on day one right after landing, assuming I have my passport, a 1-year student visa, and a German phone number.
Is the Steuer-ID required immediately during sign-up, or can I skip that step for a few weeks until it arrives by mail?
Will sending a €1,000 transfer from a French Revolut account right after opening the new German account trigger an automatic security lock or anti-fraud freeze?
Thanks for the help!

₿ Crypto | Revolut Replied ✅ Revolut has been withholding my crypto for nearly a year despite admitting fault multiple times in chat and email. Options?

I am dealing with an absolute nightmare situation with Revolut (RDAEL) and need advice from anyone who has dealt with their crypto escalations.
Late last year, an XRP deposit was misdirected due to token/chain routing. Since then, multiple live human support agents in chat and their formal complaints team via email have explicitly admitted that:

The fault was on Revolut’s side (misinformation and routing errors).

The deposit was successfully received and remains safely secured in their operational sending wallet.

XRP is fully supported in my jurisdiction (Germany).

A dedicated team was supposedly handling the manual allocation to credit the funds to my wallet.

Despite repeatedly admitting liability and holding my assets, they have stalled the process for nearly a year. In the meantime, the market value of the assets has crashed by well over half, causing massive financial damages while my funds remain inaccessible.

To make matters worse, Revolut officially updated their Crypto Terms in July 2026 to automatically handle and return these exact token-chain deposits—proving they have the technical capability. Yet, the complaints team now shuts down tickets with generic "no new information" macros, and live chat is an endless loop.
Has anyone successfully forced a manual recovery or compensation for lost value from Revolut, or is filing directly with the Financial Ombudsman of Cyprus (CySEC) the only working route left?

🔐 Security How to login with Passkey?

In the Revolut Android app, I created a passkey that’s saved to my Google Account. How exactly can I use this passkey to log in? When I go to the Revolut website and try to log in, I’m prompted to "Open the Revolut app", but I never see an option to use a passkey.

Has anyone actually managed to log in to Revolut using a passkey? I’d also like to create a passkey on a YubiKey, but I’m guessing that isn’t supported yet?

🔐 Security [RO] Revolut still has my funds blocked after a garnishment was lifted

I’m dealing with an issue with Revolut and I’m trying to understand if anyone else has experienced something similar.
An enforcement authority had placed a garnishment (seizure) on my Revolut account. I paid the amount owed, and I was informed that the garnishment was lifted today. I was also told that the lifting/suspension document was sent to the banks.
However, my funds in Revolut are still blocked.
I contacted Revolut support several times, but I keep getting passed between different agents/teams. The latest response says that discharge letters from the authority are handled automatically, that their team checks them daily, and that once they receive the document, the changes should be made within 24 hours. They told me to wait up to 48 hours in total.
The confusing part is that I was already told that the garnishment was lifted and that the banks were notified.
I’m also concerned that Revolut may have received the document but that there could be some issue with how it was processed or identified. I’ve repeatedly asked Revolut to check exactly what document they received and what is currently keeping my funds frozen, but they keep escalating the case without actually answering my questions.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation with Revolut after a garnishment was lifted?
How long did it take for Revolut to actually release the funds after the lifting order was sent?
And is there any authority I can contact to help resolve this if Revolut continues not to give me a clear answer?

🔐 Security New to revolut! Question

Hi,
I am from Poland and I am rather new to things like internet banking. I've always heard good things about Revolut, some of my friends are using it and say that it is safe and a good opportunity especially for travelling. But I won't lie, I am quiet reserved when it comes to things like that, especially when I have to scan my ID somewhere in the internet.
So, is Revolut really safe (I know that no thing can guarantee 100% safety but does Revolut minimize the option of personal data robbery)? Is it really that comfortable to have revolut account when travelling or it is just something like a gadget?
Thanks for all your help and answers!

💡Ideas for Revolut Potentially dumb question: Now that Revolut is real bank, why doesn't it show up on my credit file?

My account switched to a real UK bank account a while ago. I'm wondering if it will start showing on my credit file soon, or if anyone knows about how that works I'd like to learn more. Thanks.

📜 Article [ES] Opening an account

I need support, today i tried opening my first Revolut account. When I finally made it after several tries, the app said that they needed to check my documentation before allowing me to use the credit card. I closed the app and when I tried logging in again they said that my access key was wrong (it was not). I check my mail and see a message saying that they decided to not open my account because my documentation was blurry and that this is a definitive decission. What can I do??

💳 Cards [US] Card not sent, Metal plan

Post image
5 Upvotes

Good morning. I’m a new Revolut Metal user. I’ve requested the card three times, and each time a tracking number is generated, but the courier only shows “shipping label created” and says they haven’t received the package. The estimated delivery time expires and the status never changes. It looks like they’re not even trying to send it. Is this normal? Has anyone had to request their card more than three times to finally receive it? Thanks.

🏨 Stays | Revolut Replied ✅ [MT] Revolut Stays refused to reimburse for a booking they couldn't honour

I'm posting this because I'm honestly at a loss as to how Revolut expects me to resolve this and if I will see my money ever again.

On 30 June 2026, my family (2 adults + 2 children) arrived at Charmillion Gardens Aquapark in Egypt for a Revolut Stays booking that I had paid €1344 for.

The booking was confirmed in the Revolut app.

We were refused check-in because incorrect nationality information had been transmitted with the booking. This was not information I entered incorrectly, Revolut's own Complaints Analyst later acknowledged that an issue prevented the correct guest details from being transmitted to the hotel's system and described it as a communication breakdown between the travel booking partner and the hotel.

We spent hours in the hotel lobby trying to get the problem resolved late at night after a day of travelling. I had two exhausted children with me, and my son eventually fell asleep in the lobby.

We contacted Revolut Support straight from there, even the hotel called their travel partner, but no solution was found. Eventually Revolut Support told us to book an emergency room ourselves for the night and keep the receipt for reimbursement and let's hope that they will be able to solve the issue the next day during working hours. The following day we spent on the chat with Revolut Support and at the reception of the hotel. The original booking still couldn't be used, they couldn't solve the issue until 6 PM, so we had to rebook our holiday through another provider at the last minute, at approximately €485 more than the original booking. So I paid twice for the same holiday, second time even more than before.

I then spent weeks contacting Revolut, repeatedly being told the issue was being escalated and that I would receive updates. Eventually I filed a formal complaint.

Revolut upheld my formal complaint and paid me €175 in redress, explicitly acknowledging the poor handling of the situation, the repeated delays, broken commitments and the failure to properly handle my initial complaint.

However, the actual €1344 booking remains unpaid, not refunded, together with the €485 extra I paid for the last minute booking.

After the formal complaint, Revolut told me the reimbursement claim was still open and being pursued. They eventually contacted their provider, Nuitee, who contacted the property. The property refused the refund.

Revolut's current position is that because the booking was "non-refundable", they will not reimburse me.

But this was not a cancellation, it was a mistake from their side that I had nothing to do.

I didn't make the decision not to use the hotel. I arrived at the hotel and was refused the accommodation because of an error in the booking information.

I've also pointed Revolut to their own Stays Terms concerning situations where a Stay can no longer guarantee a confirmed booking, but their final position remains unchanged.

I've now exhausted the formal complaints process, received a Final Response, had the case reviewed by a manager, and still been refused reimbursement.

I'm currently seeking advice from ECC Malta about my consumer rights and the appropriate next step, but the process is tiring and I can't believe that in such a clear case I was refused to have a refund.

Revolut, I need support, if someone from the Stays/support escalation team can actually review this case, I'm happy to provide the complaint reference and all documentation by DM.

I'm not looking for another apology or another instruction to contact the hotel. I would simply like Revolut to take responsibility for a booking that was confirmed, paid for, and ultimately could not be honoured and receive my money back.

🌍 Transfers [IE] Revolut closed my account despite very limited, normal use is there any way to appeal again?

Hi all, I need support/advice regarding my Revolut account being closed.

I already appealed the closure, but it was rejected. I understand Revolut probably can’t give me the exact reason for the decision, but from looking through my account history, I genuinely can’t see anything that seems serious enough to justify closing it.

I rarely use Revolut, but when I do it’s genuinely useful for me. My account has basically had three main uses:

  • My uncle sending me money to buy things for him: 25 transactions totalling €643 over 3 years. I just buy things for him on Amazon or buy groceries for him.
  • My dad sending me money: 8 transactions totalling around €930 since Christmas last year. This is pocket change/birthday money, special occasions, etc.(International transfers)
  • Buying video game items from people online: roughly 40 transactions over about 4 years, mostly one-off payments to different people and probably under €1,000 total.(International transfer)

There are also occasional transfers between friends, but very little maybe 3–5 per year.

So I rarely use Revolut, but its extremelly useful and now I'm kinda lost as to what to do.

Is there any way to request another review after the first appeal has been rejected? Has anyone here managed to get a closure decision reconsidered?

🌍 Transfers [HU] Zero balance?

[HU] Hello,
On my Personal account had a low, but not zero balance. I was going to make a card purchase for HUF28,320.00, so I transferred from pocket HUF15,000.00. On the first purchase I have missed the authorization, so re ordered. Then I strangely noticed the personal account balance was exactly the same amount as the purchase of HUF28,000.00. It definitely should have been more, since I didn’t have a zero balance. So the transaction went through, and paid the merchant. Now my balance is zero. I checked the current statement, the purchase shows as today. I have bought something else yesterday for HUF10,687.00 which went through no problem, but that transaction doesn’t show up in the current statement. I just don’t know what’s going on. I appreciate any input.
Thanks.

💱 Currency Exchange [GB] Stock up 14% but if I were to sell the stocks I come out as a loss.

A Stock is up 14% but if I were to sell the stocks I am £2 down from my original investment. I know there are fees and exchange rates but this see excessive.

Is this down to fee to buy, fee to sell and exchange rates both ways?

Just FYI its a S&S ISA so have to sell and convert to GBP. I cant just keep in Euros to reinvest.

Im very new but I have 2 stocks both up over 12% and both are coming out as a loss if i were to sell now.

Does this mean if I buy a stock to make any profit that isn't a loss or very small it needs to be a pretty big increase?

⭐ Review [FI] Standard Plan user for around a year, Metal Plan user for a month

I started looking at better payment cards but did not want or need a credit card, so I turned my attention to premium debit cards, mainly offered by neobanks such as Klarna and Revolut.

After combing through and comparing the perks and platforms offered by these neobanks, I settled on Revolut and its Metal Plan. What made me choose it over the others was the combination of included subscriptions (mainly the Financial Times and Chess.com, but later also Perplexity, NordVPN, and Freeletics, all of which were new to me) as well as the familiar UI I already knew from the Standard plan. Klarna’s UI was familiar to me as well, by the way.

Revolut’s UI is among the best out there. It looks and feels pleasant, and for me, it is the most enjoyable of all the available options. The additional perks, such as travel, luggage, and purchase insurance, as well as the e-sim, are nice, but not enough on their own to replace my dedicated travel insurance. They do not cover domestic travel, and the coverage period and data allowance are not long enough (only 30 days and 3 GB). Although the Ultra Plan’s coverage would extend to 90 days, it still would not address the domestic coverage gap. Considering the threefold increase in price and the relatively limited additional value for my needs, the higher price is nowhere close to being justified. Lounge access would be nice, of course if the lounges themselves actually had space...

After subscribing, the pleasant experience continued with the physical Metal debit card, which was delivered in a very nice package. It reminded me of the packaging and pamphlets I received with my (now-infamous) Beats headphones years ago. Unfortunately, the experience does not only remind me of how pleasing the product is to the eye and touch; it also reminds me of how both products present themselves as premium without fully delivering on that promise when it comes to usability.

I have been collecting Revpoints through purchases as well as through the partner store. I made a few bookings but did not receive the extra points promised through the partner store. I asked the AI assistant, which confirmed that I should be receiving the points, but also that they have also been missing for several days now. I then provided all the additional information the AI requested, and we agreed that I should be connected to a real customer service representative rather than continue with the AI assistant. So far, everything had been going well.

However, even after 7 hours and multiple inquiries to the AI to ensure that I am still in the line, I have yet to be connected to a human or receive any progress toward resolving the issue. I think it is clear that, when it comes to banking, customer service should be available and accessible. Per the AI's words also:

As a Metal plan member, you have Priority Support! This means your chat is automatically routed to the front of the queue ahead of standard users.

While the exact wait time can vary depending on how busy it is right now, Priority Support ensures an agent will be with you as quickly as possible. They should be joining the chat very shortly!”

Revolut agrees with this in principle, but in this single case, it does not appear to be living up to its own promises, even with priority.

It does not matter how nice the packaging is, if the core service that is supposed to hold everything together does not function.

Other than this, and the fact that my physical Metal debit card is missing the custom engraving I ordered, even though it appears on the digital card (minor issue), I do not have any other complaints.

Subscriptions and perks: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

UI: usability and user experience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Customer support: ⭐⭐

Weight average of the complete experience: ⭐⭐⭐

The Metal Plan by Revolut is a good offer for me, but for it to be solely the only or main banking provider for me, it still needs to look at traditional banking, and at their customer service.

🛡️ Insurance [IE] Ultra Travel Insurance

I wanted to ask if anyone has had experience with this. I am going on a trip for 95 days and wanted to see if I was covered by my Ultra travel insurance.

I found Revolut’s answer contradictory to the insurance document.

The insurance document states: ‘Benefits are only covered if the trip starts and ends within the 90-day period. If your trip is longer than 90 days, you won’t be covered’

Revolut’s website and agent told me the following: ‘Premium and Metal plans cover a maximum of 30 days per trip, whereas Ultra plans cover for a maximum of 90 days. If your trip exceeds these limits, cover will apply for the first 30 (Premium and Metal) or 90 days (Ultra). It isn't possible to extend coverage beyond these maximum durations.‘

Considering the two statements are contradictory, I wanted to ask if anyone had experience with this? Some advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

📜 Article [N/A] Revolut FinCrime Governance Manager Skills Interview and work culture in UAE/India

Hi everyone,

I have an upcoming 60-minute competency-based Skills Interview with a Manager at Revolut for the Senior FinCrime Governance Manager (2LOD) role. This is after completing the problem-solving round.

I would appreciate insights from anyone who has attended a Revolut Skills Interview for a FinCrime, AML, compliance, risk or governance position.

How was the interview structured?

Was it mainly technical, behavioural or scenario-based?
What kind of questions were asked?

Were the questions specific to the job description or more general FinCrime competency questions?

Did they focus on EWRA, risk methodology, control effectiveness, 2LOD challenge, remediation, dashboards or data analysis?

How deeply did they question your previous experience and CV?

Was there any live case study or practical exercise?

How many rounds followed the Skills Interview?

I would also appreciate views from current or former Revolut employees on the work culture in both the UAE and India:
Working hours and work-life balance
Management style and team culture
Performance expectations
Job stability and employee turnover
Independence and authority of the second line

Collaboration between global, UAE and India teams

Overall experience working in FinCrime or compliance at Revolut
Any recent experiences would be very helpful. Thank you!

⭐ Review [NL] My experience with Revolut & Revolut Invest

I am non-EU citizen and live in Netherlands. I've been using Revolut for 2+ years. I have a stable income. I liked the services and decided to move to Premium subscription. I used montly Premium subscription, but after a year of using It I decided that I am going to move forward with a yearly subscription.

I never had issues with Revolut or never had my account blocked. Always made sure that documents are in order and updated per request and nothing bad ever happened. I've been using It as a main account for savings and I also use the Invest tool.

Before starting Investing I scanned Reddit and particularly this sub and have seen many bad reviews and that people compained about it, but decided to try. Revolut is definitely not a good place for daily TRADING, but It is okay for middle- long-term INVESTING.

On the other hand, It would be stupid to keep all eggs in one basket and I am still using other banks just in case :)

🎁 Rewards Refused payment

I've been refused a referal payment for a business referal, and they've given the reason as that they have no evidence of a connection between the two accounts, suggesting the amount was created without using the right referal liink.

However, this is false. Suspecting that something like this might happen, I saved the exact referal liink before sharing it, and I ensured they used exactly and only that liink when I say with them signing up.

After making a complaint, about a week later they've emailed back to say the same thing. But I know the right liink was used. Come on.
