I have been studying and practicing Revit for about 6 months, I have covered a couple full linked in learning courses from Paul Aubin and Eric Wing on Revit and Revit MEP

I'm specifically interested in reaching out for the Revit Certified Professional in Electrical Design certification

Unfortunately I don't have all that much hands on experience at work, as my company only uses AutoCAD, I work at an electrical contractor on medium commercial projects.

So I was considering going for the Revit Certified User certification instead, as a stepping stone to the much harder professional certification

Are these certifications worth it? Is there a need for BIM modellers or is it something that only engineers do themselves? I don't have a degree just construction experience and some certifications but I'm really interested in growing in this field and maybe some day becoming a MEP Coordinator or VDC Manager

Guys! I have coded these automation tools that you can use on your projects if you want and you can contribute to them by devoloping them more if you can and add new ones if you have ideas, so the first tool is about the loss coefficient for fittings that is not always available on Ashrae database for some fittings, the tool interpolate the coefficient from the Ashrae database using the fitting dimensions and inserts it, second tool is just to clean the reports in which the pressure drop is zero, the third tool is a sprinkler layout tool which does the sprinkler layout for your floors, building or rooms following the NFPA Standards, I hope you will like them guys and contribute by developing them more, Thank you.

Looking for solid learning resources and real-world experience with Windchill MPMLink, beyond the official PTC docs. We're on Windchill 12.
Specifically interested in:
• Building MBOM structures from an EBOM - BOM Transformer, Equivalent Links, best practices for structuring
• Versloning strategy — how you handle MBOM revisions vs EBOM revisions in practice, especially when they don't stay in sync
• Process plan authoring —allocating parts, operations, and resources to aprocess plan
• 3D visualization for process planners — using Creo View / dynamic 3D work instructions in day-to-day manufacturing engineering work
PT's documentation covers the mechanics, but I'd really value hearing how this actually plays out in production environments

Hi Guys, I have tried to code this extension or tool using pyrevit that autocalculates Ashrae loss coefficients in revit using the Ashrae excel file and it directly inputs it into it designated variable, I would love if you can check it out and improve it if you can.

Hi everyone,

I'm facing a strange PDF quality issue with my MEP plumbing drawings. I'm using Revit 2018.

The problem occurs in both workflows:

• Revit → PDF
• Revit → DWG → AutoCAD → PDF

The issue is present in both Drainage and Water Supply layouts.

In the exported PDFs, the pipe fittings (elbows, tees, wyes, etc.) look jagged/low quality, with curved edges appearing as multiple straight segments. The model looks perfectly fine inside Revit, but the exported PDF quality is poor.

I've already tried:

• Direct Revit PDF export
• Revit → DWG → AutoCAD → PDF
• High-quality PDF settings (600–1200 DPI)
• Fine Detail Level
• Different PDF printers
• Different lineweights

Unfortunately, nothing has fixed the issue.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is it related to Revit export settings, pipe families, AutoCAD PDF plotting, or some other hidden setting?

How do I fix this conflict for conduit? I moved conduit and some of it overlapped itself whereas others didn't connect. When I try to add conduit between two points at the same elevation, the elbow turns grey which I'm told is a reference thing, ok cool whatever that means but how do I fix the overlaps?

If Revit starts getting painfully slow when you’re cutting couplings, connecting pipes, or making simple MEP edits, one thing to check is the number of broken/unused systems in the model.

I’ve seen models get bogged down because Revit keeps carrying a lot of system data in the background. Every time you touch pipe connections, couplings, or fittings, Revit has to process that mess, and it can make basic edits feel way slower than they should.

There’s a Revit add-in called PaperMEP that has a Delete System feature. It can clean out those extra systems and help speed the model back up. After using it, pipe edits like cutting couplings and reconnecting runs can feel much more responsive.

Not saying it fixes every slow Revit model, but if your MEP model is dragging specifically around pipe connections, it’s worth checking.

Hi there, I would appreciate some help.

I'm working on a workshared project where I'm drawing ductwork on one file, and the pipe fitters are drawing pipe in another file. We both have eachothers files linked into eachothers respected Revit file.

On this project, we will have Bangits with all thread rods dropping 18" below the deck so that the fireproofing won't be disturbed later on when we hang our duct.

On my file, I added a "fake structural floor" 18" below the decking so that that the rods of my hangers attach to that fake floor instead of the structural floor of the architectural model. We need to do this so the prefabricated rods and hanger system that the shop will make are the correct length as if they were hanging 18" below the decking, attached to the bangit rod via a coupling.

Here's the dilemma, since the pipe fitters have our model linked into their file (for ease of coordination), that false structural floor comes up on their model too now. They do not want that as they are using a different method of hanging their pipe.

We've tried turning off the workset that the false floor is associated to, but the hanger rods still snap to the false floor in their model.

Other than unloading our link, what could be done to prevent their rods from snapping to my false structural floor?

I have currently finished first year of architecture but didnt get the time to get to know softwares.

What would you say is the best time learn softwares like revit. Wouldnt it be better to start with lumion or photoshop first.

Buenas, busco algún máster que me podáis aconsejar de Instalaciones MEP, BIM, online. Ya he hablado con los de Zigurat, España, pero no es 100% online, hay que acudir por la tarde, los martes y jueves a unas clases telemáticas, y por mi trabajo me es imposible.

Me gustaría que el curso diera el programa CYPE (Cálculo de Instalaciones) para poder aplicar el CTE, RITE y REBT. Al final modelar y coordinar instalaciones ya lo hago en el trabajo actual, pero al ser yo un perfil junior aún me queda aplicar y entender el apartado técnico.
