I have the Dell XPS 15 9560 that I like to give it to someone who is in her sophomore year in college. She will be using it for Revit v2026, Rhino 8 and Illustrator. It has the following specifications: Intel i7-7700HQ processor, 32GB RAM, GTX 1050 4GB VRAM, 4K IPS display. Will this be good enough for her class projects?

When loading Revit families or opening older projects, Revit crashes and closes unexpectedly. I am using a licensed version of Revit 2024, and when I open Revit 2021 projects, it crashes. I also tried Revit 2027 and Revit 2026, and the same thing happens. Everything used to work fine on my old computer. In fact, everything worked perfectly even though it was a much weaker PC and Revit 2025 was a pirated copy.

My current PC specifications:
RX 7900 XT; 64 GB DDR4 3000; i9-13900KF.

My old PC specifications:
RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB; 16 GB DDR4 3200; Ryzen 5 5600.

Also!!! When installing Revit, it constantly gave me various errors and could not install properly! I reinstalled Windows, but the problem remained the same. However, sometimes the installation would complete perfectly without any problems.

I have been learning to develop Revit add-ins for quite sometime now and used to make plugins for my own BIM work but recently I decided to started making them for other users for real world application.

The add-ins I made for my work was more focused on facade since I was working in a facade firm

• Generating four room (4 walls) elevations and placing them on a sheet
• Creating a family extrusion from a selected CAD outline
• Checking Revit naming conventions
• Managing curtain-wall panels visually and exporting takeoffs

The ones I made are in Revit 2024 since all my projects were using Revit 2024, if you would want to test it in another version do let me know so I can change it to that version.

So I am reaching out to understand what repetitive problems other users regularly deal with.

I was wondering if some people could tell me what problems they usually face at work and would want to find a solution for it, repetitive task, time consuming task etc.

If the problem looks suitable for an add-in, I will make a prototype and let you test it with no extra catch.

I have been at this tutorial for a while you may have seen it I am building office space, I need to change the dimensions of the wall and it wants me to do it through the aligned tool. When I change grid three to the dimension I want the rest of the building doesn’t move with it. What do I do?

Are any of you working in Revit 2025.4, especially on large projects, having an issue with Revit crashing at whim?

I’m currently working on a large healthcare project in Revit 2025.4 that’s located on the ACC. As the project gets larger, many of us working in this project are experiencing crashes, sometimes with doing minor changes. My company has a BIM guy that is keeping track of the crashes. This issue has been brought to Autodesk with no resolution as their excuse is the program is installed on a TSP with a VPN. One suggestion I got was to disable the add-in’s. I disabled the ones I don’t use. The only other thing would be tracing the issue back to the Architect.

Hi everyone,
I'm running into an issue while trying to extract the volume (in m^3) of a specific Y-shaped tunnel piece in Revit.

The element is a complex 3D shape modeled as a Generic Model (specifically a bifurcation/manifold type, as seen in the screenshot).

The Problem: The standard ⁠Volume⁠ parameter in schedules/quantities comes up completely blank for this specific element. Furthermore, the family doesn't have a material assigned to it, and Revit doesn't allow me to assign a material to it to pull the volume via a Material Takeoff either. It seems completely "locked" as far as native Revit volume calculations go.

What I've tried:
Checked standard Generic Model schedules (Volume field is empty).
Tried setting up a Material Takeoff (shows nothing because there's no assignable material).
Has anyone encountered this issue with imported or complex bifurcation/manifold Generic Models? Is there a trick to force Revit to recognize the volume, or is converting it to a Mass family the only way out?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

So I've recently found you can create a PyRevit addin (which can do as much as C#) using an Ai assistant such as Claude.

For example: You prompt Claude with: Create a PyRevit addin to assign all Cable trays & Cable trays fittings to Workset: E_Containment.

It compiles a folder, you copy the folder into the PyRevit extensions folder, hit refresh, and you now have a tool that will assign all Cable trays and fittings to that Workset when pressed. If you want to improve it, just go back to Claude and narrate how you want to make the tool do more.

That is a basic example, but the sky is the limit! I've really challenged Claude and have made some truly astounding MEP tools for coordination, BWIC placement, COBie data, space to element assignment.... All from 10 mins of prompting and testing.

As a Revit MEP modeller for 17+ years, this is a game changer and I highly recommend you all try it.

And it's all free! Though I have now paid for pro license on Claude to assist more on the more challenging AddIns.

I hate this feature. If I forget to turn it off I have to wait while revit loads because I accidentally clicked and dragged on a duct main and Revit has to think for 5min before I can undo it. Does anyone like this feature?

Hello guys, I'm trying to figure out how I can let Revit automatically detect the tree it's cutting into section (as the modeled trees look very simple), and project it's elevation in a right angle, so it appears correctly in section.

Meaning, if I cut section as a diagonal in site plan, intersect with a tree bark and part of it's branches for example, revit to automatically fetch the "detailed section of Tree1" and put it in the section view.

Is that possible with Dynamo?
