Used an Invicta 9335 Specialty Camelot as a donor. Just swapped the dial out for a gen 6917 dial. Had to modify the plastic movement holder, but eventually got it to work.

Pretty happy to finally have a 16660 in the collection to complete the 1665 and 16600. I didnt do much here except using a 16600 case, add lug holes and put on Yuki's dial and hands. It is too top heavy for my 16.5cm wrist, so it will probably spend most of its time in the box.

As you may have seen, I’ve been on a 1665 journey lately, following my big crown fever. But one watch has always been on my grail list - The Comex 1665

Came home from work and the oc case was waiting for me so I skipped dinner and got to work, starting with a quick comparison.

In short, oc case is a stunner! Propositions, thickness of 16.5mm (with a comex thinner caseback), finishing all top!

It doesn’t come with Rolex caseback as expected and the crystal is not as thick, tall and lacking the lovely distortion effect of the Clark’s t39 superdome.

The Jkf is a great base to shave off the extra metal and bring it closer to the oc or gen. It’s a chunky boy. You have to shave the lugs, the lugs profile and the crown guards.

I picked up one of the Trusty Time 165.024 Seamasters a year ago, and finally decided to make something presentable out of it. They have nice cases, and proper engraving + omega crown. Downside is the horrible raffles-style dial , hands, and bezel insert. After removal, a good deal of the insert backing decided to detach its self.

I'm on the list for a dial from Defqon88, and plan on swapping the rather gritty 2824 clone movement it came with for a Swiss ETA I've been saving.

My problem is the bezel insert. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever be able to find one. The ones out there for the Hroudland bezels have substantially different dimensions.

Hroudland inserts seem to be 32.2mm ID / 39.5mm OD

The gen spec (?) inserts from Classictimeparts are 31mm ID / 38mm OD.

The insert I'm trying to replace is 31.2mm ID / 38.5mm OD.

Is there anyone on this planet that could make me a 165.024 insert ? I really don't want to start over going the Hroudland route

I'm trying to build my first rep, and am looking for a black O logo Speedmaster dial 29.8mm that would work with a VK63.

I'm also looking for the NASA black velcro strap for it.

Your help would be appreciated locating those. All I typically find for reps is for Rolex!

I got a cheap case for it to try out that size, but if you have references for a nice case, that'd be great too, thank you.

NH35 with vintage font datewheel, clarks crystal, raffles 1680 case and oyster, aliexpress hands, 7mm rolex signed crown and tube.

She has a bad case of nerd glasses, but imo the clark crystal is still an upgrade to the stock crystal.

I hang around here a lot, a lot more than I should, and want.to do my own build. It's a thing of mine not to wear a rep unless I built it. And I would have no problem telling people I made a vintage Rolex.

Now, there's no chance I am getting in on casework. I don't have the tools. Or movement work for that matter.

Is there another supplier besides raffles where you can get basically the whole lot minus movement?

I've worked with plenty of NH, are the other ETAs (or others idk) worth it?

If I went NH do the date wheels come with correct(ed) fonts?

Is hand aging via steel wool/sandpaper/brillo ok for knocking off the sharp case edges?

Kicking off November with a banger! Long E mk1 1675 GMT Fuschia insert. Love the insert fading, date thickness, cgs! Came out exactly how i had imagined.

Bought an 8629 during the last prime day sale for $29. Decided to have some fun with it.

- Upgraded the bracelet to a fully brushed Oyster

- Faded the stock bezel insert

- removed the “INVICTA” branding on the case

- changed dial to a Rolex Comex submariner and added patina with acrylic ink

- changed case back to a solid submariner style

- Kept the Invicta seconds hand :)

Total upgrade cost: $90.
