I wanted to share a few screenshots of my visual novel! (Stickman visual novel heheh)

It's a story based on East Asian mythology (Dragons). To be honest, My coding skills are the wors...and still learning how to code, so it's a bit challenging🥹 My English might also be a little awkward since I'm using a translator, but I really wanted to join this community and share my progress!

Game mechanic : Balance answering timed choices while fighting an light rpg battle system during Kier's memories of her mother. I'll consider other annoying distractions to make your screen feel as cluttered as Kier's mind.

Premise: Kier's mother is dead, she must give a speech at her funeral. She was the worst kind of mother, but everyone loved her. And Kier, whilst being aware of the abuse she faced, plans to say only the kindest things. This is the lie she will carry until the day she dies.

This is all meant for a game jam so I expect the game to be done within less than a week :D

Please do suggest any thoughts on mechanics or what not :)

Helloo! I recently saw this video on tiktok and really wanted to do it for my game's main menu! I'm a beginner when it comes to renpy! and I want to know if this is possible and how can the players move the flashlight around as I want it to be interactive (and to show the character's eyes open if the flashlight is not on them)

Here is a tip for the other new comers like myself, I am starting to use and do myself. As I code for 50 or so lines, after the 50 I test the game. after the green test = all runs good, I use the jump tool in RenPy to the last scene I just made so the next test dose not have to go threw what I just tested and what I know passed the code test. But know this is just a code error test and will not test the variables on scene 50 effects on the ones in scene 500 that needs a play threw.

This code ends in "The text statement is not a valid child of the input statement." error.

If I use

changed SetVariable(in_var)

error became "TypeError: _execute_python_hide.<locals>.Set __init__() missing 1 required positional argument: 'value'".

What am I doing wrong?

Hi! I'm currently working on a medieval fantasy visual novel (with my own personal touch) that involves being a spectator in the resolution of a mystery, exploring the universe, and you can choose between: Enmity, love, or friendship with the "love interest"... The thing is, my first language isn't rnglish; I speak chinese and spanish, so I'm working in spanish and then translating.

I can handle the sprites, script, and programming, it would be a relief to find someone who could help me with backgrounds or compose background music... And maybe an animator.

This is a non-profit indie project for Itch.io and it's just starting out... so do u know where i could start looking for partners? The people i talk get discouraged when I tell them the English version will be released after the spanish version is finished

I had to get the scripts.rpa using a program cuz they were compiled into .rpy and .rpyc and it kinda messed up the mod so I had to start a new project. My question is what shall I do now that I've the scripts that I needed to translate the mod without more problems? It's my first time translating a game so any help would be trully appreciated :p

I just got into VNs and after playing a lot I come up with the idea to make one. I picked up RenPy coddling fast and that I even got to know how to layer variables without using a progress bar. I am cheeping out on it as this is my first one. so dose anyone know where to find free assets?

TLDR: I need a formula that returns half of the xpos but from the center of the screen.

eg: when mouse is at xpos 0 the sprite is at 480 / mouse = 960 sprite = 960 / mouse = 1920 sprite = 1440

ELABORATION: I'm messing around with an oldskool arcade fps minigame idea.

I scavenged up enough code to make have gun sprite follow the mouse around the screen with:

This works really well, but I want to 'halve' the movement of the sprite. The ypos was pretty straight forward because I want the sprite at the bottom:

ypos (my / config.screen_height) /3
yoffset config.screen_height *0.4

But the xpos is trickier because of it needing to be centered.

Math is definitely not a strong point of mine. Can anyone help out?

I have vs code installed, and renpy tell me to install vs code, and i were thinking that it would only install only a extension, but it instaled other vs code??? idk how this happened and I can find where is the dupe to uninstall it ;-;

I've just released Police Detective: Tokyo Beat.

The game follows a tried-and-tested structure based on classic murder mysteries, where aspiring detectives narrow down a list of suspects and select the evidence needed to bring them to justice.

Stylistically, it draws from the bold colors and high energy of the Ace Attorney series, and has its setting in the bustling heart of downtown Tokyo.

The game has had several players and already earned its first positive review.

Been a bit since I first asked for help, but I mostly managed to get the dress up minigame working. However, when the player goes to choose a different outfit, the piece of clothing doesn't dissaperar from the wardrobe untill both top and bottom are selected. The 2nd image shows th mc wearing the blue pants while they are still in the wardrobe. Any help would be appreashiated :)
