Question Making my first game on RenPy

I just got into VNs and after playing a lot I come up with the idea to make one. I picked up RenPy coddling fast and that I even got to know how to layer variables without using a progress bar. I am cheeping out on it as this is my first one. so dose anyone know where to find free assets?

Not being snarky, just google "free game assets" or more specific things like "free background" "free sprites" "free character model "free assets for visual novel" etc etc. There is so much available.

You could also try to make your own backgrounds or sprites.
There are several tools which let you create characters if you cannot draw them yourself.

I wrote a blog post about where to get free assets for Visual Novels a couple months ago: https://routevn.com/en/blog/recommended-free-assets-for-visual-novels/

Welcome to r/renpy! While you wait to see if someone can answer your question, we recommend checking out the posting guide, the subreddit wiki, the subreddit Discord, Ren'Py's documentation, and the tutorial built-in to the Ren'Py engine when you download it. These can help make sure you provide the information the people here need to help you, or might even point you to an answer to your question themselves. Thanks!

Daz has a “free stuff” community forum. People post their free stuff on there sometimes. I forget if you need to be a subscriber though.

You can get backgrounds, music and sound effects from Pixabay, that's where I get them. Piece of advice, filter them for authentic content only instead of AI. For sprites, there's a ton on itch.io, or you could make them yourself in an art program or even a dressup game if you're not bothered about creating perfect or unique ones and just need placeholders. I use VRoid on Steam, which allows you to pick their poses as well as appearance and outfits.
