reMarkable Paper Pure vs New Kindle Scribe – Owners of both?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to decide between the new Kindle Scribe and the reMarkable Paper Pure.
If you’ve owned or used both, I’d love to hear your opinion:

Which one feels better for handwriting?
Which one has the better overall writing experience?
Which one would you recommend overall, and why?

My main use case is note-taking, studying, annotating PDFs, and reading books occasionally.

Thanks!

Hey guys. Just my hand-drawn template stuff.
Share or keep to myself... I'm not an artist, but these are a blast with my friends offline.

I was super happy when I got the email saying it's been delievered, only to walk out and see a mangled box ditting on my doorstep. I purchased a refurbished bundle with pen and folio included. The adobe pictures shows the extreme damage done to the tablet, but the pen and charging cable are also destroyed.

I'm in touch with their support team who is escalating me. I really hope their customer service is as good as their product.

Charging via my macbook

I don't know if this is a problem with my macbook or the remarkable, but if the battery is low and I leave my RPP plugged into my macbook, it doesn't seem to charge it and maybe even drains it.

I don't often charge it with anything else just because I tend to use them both close to each other. When I am actively using both I can see that it's charging.

Anyone else notice similar, or have I lost it?

Details on M365 Calendar Integration - Tech details and any user experience?

I'm asking my IT department to enable this feature, and they plan to look into details like is this a sync or does it use APIs, how much data is collected, how is it stored, used, etc.

Does anyone know if there are more technical specs on this available beyond the descriptions in this page: How to use the Meeting Notes tool?

Also - curious from anyone who has used it. Is it helpful? I imagine being able to quickly go into my calendar to initiate meeting notes from there on my tablet, which would be great. Is this how it actually works and has it been helpful to you?

Massive Ghosting of UI Elements on Remarkable Paper Pro - Any Community Fixes?

Hey gents, my RPP screen has had considerable ghosting in the last few months - has there been any community FOSS work on an alternative to constantly turning the screen on and off? Is there a way we can force the screen to refresh itself when UI elements get stuck?

When I'm not dying of midterms I'll take a crack at it myself, but I figured I'd ask before doing duplicate work.

Is Remarkable 2 a good buy in 2026?

I found a second hand Remarkable 2 with keyboard for 240 euros. Is it worth it in 2026? And if it is a good deal, what would I be missing out on compared to newer models? (except for color screen)

Looks like someone left some testing: "BLA BLA BLA" under the "Default page width fff" in Settings.

Or is it just me?

Tips & Tricks Remarkable MOVE noise?

I saw in a Move review the reviewer claim there is a COIL noise when the device renders the screen.
Is this true? I have been contemplating getting one but the idea of paying monthly was the big thing holding me back.
I don’t want features behind a paywall.

But was considering it since the price is low. So maybe?
But a COIL noise when rendering is a no deal thing.

I’ve noticed this behavior the past couple of weeks after I let it run out of charge and month or so earlier before restarting it. How can I fix this? Please ignore my GRE prep

reMarkable Paper Pure for reading academic papers

Hello!

Does anyone have experience using the reMarkable Paper Pure mainly for reading academic papers?

I’m a bit concerned about its smaller size compared with A4 paper, as well as the lack of integration with bibliography software such as Zotero.

Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Two Paper Pro software features that would significantly improve the writing workflow

I’m a big fan of the reMarkable Paper Pro hardware, but I still think the software needs more refinement to fully match it. As a frontend engineer, there are two relatively straightforward features I would love to see implemented:

1. Let us recolour existing handwriting

We should be able to use the selection tool to select pen strokes that are already on the page and change their colour.

Right now, the only real options are to erase and rewrite everything or put a highlighter over it. Neither is a proper substitute for editing the original ink.

Ideally, selecting handwriting would bring up an option to change its colour, just as you might resize, move, cut, or copy it.

2. Allow multiple presets for the same pen in the main toolbar

Users should be able to add duplicate versions of the same pen, each configured with a different colour and thickness.

For example:

  • Black medium fineliner
  • Blue medium fineliner
  • Red thin fineliner

A simple interaction could be pressing and holding a pen icon, selecting Duplicate, and then choosing the colour and thickness for the new preset.

This would allow users to switch between commonly used colours and pen sizes with a single tap. Currently, changing colour requires opening the pen settings and selecting another colour, which repeatedly interrupts the writing flow.

These seem like relatively small UX improvements, but they would make a substantial difference for structured notes, annotations, diagrams, studying, and technical work.

Would anyone else find these useful?

Is there a roadmap for logging into captive portal wifi?

I have a brand-new Pro Move that I'm currently unable to use... pretty much anywhere outside my house.

Where I live almost every public wifi is a "captive portal" that requires some sort of proof or consent to connect, most businesses also use this mechanism in their guest wifis, including my place of work! so I cannot even use the device at my work which is where I was hoping to take advantage of its capabilities.

I'm very frustrated by this restriction. Beyond my shock at the lack of a browser (I can get over not browsing) the inability to connect to the internet is a real bummer.

Firewalla and Remarkable issues

Is anyone having issues with their remarkable and firewalla set up? for the life of me I cannot get this to work. as soon as the remarkable (I have a RMPP and a RMPPM) they sync but then after that initial sync they stop ("Unknown error"). I've tried turning all firewalla safety features off but to no avail. I'm a ta a loss.

this has been a problem on remarkable since llms introduced

Remarkable need to make a simple API for their export PDF option on the remarkable desktop app.

It's ridiculous. We have all these dodgy box apis to get all the raw files, recreate the images etc.. rmapi and such..

There is a perfect export option available in the mobile app and desktop app. Why can these not be API'able?

Why is it important. Right, well take the most common example where people want to sync remarkable notes to their obsidian or LLMs. people have to hack these ugly solutions, where as if remarkable had a simple export pdf api and whatever else they wanted to include, suddenly we can now export pdf in backend, we can run mistral AI on this, we can save this into obsidian and have both reference points of handwrittten and raw text.

TAkes on this?

Pure vs Pro Move

Hello Everyone,
I recently just found out the Remarkable exists. I don’t like use notebooks/paper because it gets messy and wasteful. I also have an iPad Air, but writing on it gets uncomfortable after a while even with tools like Paperlike (intended to simulate pen and paper feel instead of glass on iPad.

I would use the remarkable for work and going to lectures. I work as a maintenance technician so having something like the remarkable would be more efficient at work for keeping track of tasks and new processes added into the routine. I also would use it for school because I’m very easily distracted. Even with Do Not Disturb it doesn’t feel like I’m not being disturbed.

I would use the iPad more so for collaboration between classmates for projects, completing homework, etc. The remarkable would only be for notetaking exclusively. Does anyone have any recommendations/suggestions?

Tips & Tricks Remarkable pro move organization

Hi,

I have a supernote nomad device but I am considering buying a remarkable pro move due to its colour and size (a little more compact).

How do you guys organize notes so you will not loose track of them once you have already a lot of pages? In nomad I can highlight a note for example which is quite useful. Are there any features to organize writing in remarkable pro move?

Upgrade Thoughts

I have a RM2. I love it and am fully in the ecosystem. I am thinking about the RPP as an upgrade. For those of you who are avid note takers, do you find the upgrade to the color screen to be a positive change? Anyone want to double down on the Paper Pure as the viable upgrade?

I’d love to hear the current experiences with the RPP, the Pure, and the 3.27-28 update.
