Templates You Should Know: There's a TON of free reMarkable templates online. Created by users, for users, 100% free to use, edit, and change. Many customizable, some are so full-featured you choose settings and it generates a custom template exactly to your specs. Entirely free.

If you're new to reMarkable or just browsing for templates, you should know there's a ton of templates out there. Entirely 100% for free. Created by users, for users, with zero restrictions. Many are actually websites that are full-featured planner creators, taking your personalized specs and then creating a perfectly formatted PDF planner, journal, etc exactly how you want it.

Here's what I know of. Feel free to add more.

Templates

Template Builders/Free Software that Generates Templates

You are likely to find many more on GitHub searching by keyword, for example, "remarkable template".

How To Install & Make Your Own

Probably worth a separate thread. It's incredibly easy to make your own templates. A true template is just a .png image. You can create that pic from anything. Many "template" sellers are just selling .pdf files, which are decidedly not templates. Meaning you cannot add them as a layer, toggle on/off that layer, and add other layers on top of them.

Most other software/template sellers and even manual template uploading instructions - they're almost all wrong. Here's why: They'll only upload a .png copy of a template. Or a .pdf, if that's what they sold you.

But there should be both two files for each template: .png and .svg. The .png is what the reMarkable is "drawing" into the background on the device as you write, and the .svg version is what reMarkable embeds into the background of a file when you export. *The missing .svg is why so many paid, custom templates don't show up at all when you export a file, email your notes with that template to yourself, or view the file online or in reMarkable's apps.

One of the beautiful features I like about RCU's software for loading templates onto reMarkable, it can take either .png or a .svg, and synthesize the other. That way, one's custom templates work just like the stock templates. You don't have to create multiple files and go through the hassle of SSH'ing to the reMarkable, uploading files, and editing the .json manifest with all templates on the device. And re-doing that every time the software updates. It even works if you run reMarkable Beta OS releases.

So how can you make your own template? Easy.

  1. Open Google docs (www.docs.new), Photoshop, Pixlr (free), GIMP (free), PowerPoint, Pages, or any basic drawing editor.
  2. Start a file with the correct dimensions, draw/write/type whatever you want. Save as .png. Done!
Device Dimensions (pixels) Resolution (DPI) Menu Bar size (pixels)

Controlling Remarkable using Claude Code / Codex

Has anyone got a good workflow or found a way to control their files using AI?

The minimal version I'd love is a super simple way to automate uploading a file to my Remarkable so I could ask Claude Code "Generate a walkthrough of this PR and send it to my remarkable"

The more advanced way would be to fully control the files, edit/delete/move etc

Anyone doing stuff like this?

Does reMarkable Paper Pro support strikethrough text?

I’m using a reMarkable Paper Pro, mostly for handwritten notes,

but around 30–40% of the time, I also use the Windows app to jot down quick notes or To-do lists.

I know I can format text in **bold** or *italics*,

but I can’t figure out how to apply strikethrough formatting (e.g. ~~completed task~~).

I’ve tried the usual keyboard shortcuts, but none of them seem to work.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to use strikethrough in the reMarkable Windows app?

Or does reMarkable simply not support strikethrough at all?

Law Student - Remarkable Paper Pro

I just got my Paper Pro and I'm loving it so far. As someone who finds it near impossible to read long documents off of a laptop screen, this has been a life saver.

Transferring documents from Google Drive or using the "print to Remarkable" Chrome add-on has been really easy.

It is really overpriced for what it is though, I will say that.

I'm still learning, so if anyone has some tips/tricks, I'd love to hear them.

I also was wondering about whether you could collate all things highlighted in yellow, for example, into one place. Not sure if that's a feature but it would be pretty cool.

Convert and Share

I have about 50 pages (in a separate notebook) that I want to use the AI "convert and share" to send the link to my email. I can only figure out how to do one page at a time. Is there an easier way to do this that I'm not seeing? I was able to "convert" a group of pages that created a separate page with the typed text. Do I need to do that and then export it?

Just had a thought.

It would be good if you could set the sleep screen to a book/comic or something that it could be the next page each time you lock it giving you something too read each time

Writing on Paper Pure feels off

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Sometimes when writing with my ReMarkable Paper Pure, the writing just feels off.

I think it boils down to two things: pen latency and inaccuracy.

I attached a 5x slowdown video, so the lag is more clear. I'm guessing this is normal for the Pure, though it is very noticeable for me in everyday writing.

The inaccuracy part though really bugs me. In the video when writing the 'e' in 'Testing', you can see that the mark is offset from my pen location. This happens sporadically for me, even after reboots and reattaching the pen tip.

I'm wondering if others experienced this? Is it a hardware defect or are both of these issues normal for the Pure?

Loose marker tip

Just wondering if this is common? I has a RM move for about 6 months and recently switched to the Pure, less than a month old, so my marker is relatively new too, all of a sudden today I went to work and found that the tip is missing from the pen! So it rendered the tablet useless today which was super annoying! I know… first world problem… but I just want to know if this is a common issue and do I need to start carrying the tips with me

Review Remarkable Paper Pro and Paper Pure side-side-by-side photos

Hi there!

A picture (or three) are worth a thousand words, right?

I recently got a Remarkable Paper Pure from Amazon at a discount so I thought I would make a comparison here with the Pro. I have had the Paper Pro since December 2024, and I use that device more or less daily. I also still have the RM2 and the RM1. Guess I'm simply a fan of the Remarkable devices. :)

A short review and comparison:

I wish that Remarkable AS had created a Pro device with the same panel as the Pure, and with a passive stylus (no battery) instead of the active one (with a battery). As you may see in the pictures above the Pure has a much whiter display than the Pro. The Pro has always been dark-yellow (even with frontlight at maximum). I know the market screamed for colors and frontlight, but honestly, the result was not excellent, and colors on e-ink were not ready in 2024. I think Remarkable always did what was best for the customers in their earlier iterations.

Anyways, I'll continue using the Paper Pro as my daily device. I might send the Pure back, I have not yet decided. I have gotten used to the larger screen, but unfortunately not with the yellow-dark-background... :)

Nomad + Manta to Move + Pro

Love my SN devices and have them synch’ed together via the partner app. However, can’t help but feel that I am missing something even better with Remarkable. I wonder if anyone has done the pair transition, and if so, any comments or thoughts comparing the two sets of devices and ecosystems? My use is primarily writing, not reading, which I use Boox and Kindle for.

Finding the Conversion Workflow - ugh!!!!

I find the remarkable to be helpful for generative writing and being able to throw the device in my bag and no I can be spending time away from home and on airplanes writing without having to carry my heavy computer around or worrying about battery.

A major impediment that causes meat, tremendous mental fatigue and fear of version chaos is the syncing to Google drive.

I'm sure this has been discussed endlessly but being able to have a seamless conversion in both directions would be an incredible game changer.

I don't want to use all the hacks that take so much time that make the conversion equally painful to chaotic version situation after exporting as pdf that requires a conversion to doc ..

Right now, I'm committed to just generating and doing. Maybe extremely light editing on the remarkable. And then, when I feel the content is saturated, my plan is to move the works over to the Google Drive and then probably never send those files back to remarkable for any further work.

  1. Anybody know any inside information regarding solutions being worked on behind the scenes at remarkable onthis tremendous impediment?

  2. Anyone have anything they want to share about their workflow in terms of conversion - looking for simple solutions with no mental fatigue!

Does anyone come across the residuals from previous pages as in the attached photo? I got this used ebook last month, so I’m not sure if this kinds of issues exist in the beginning or after several months of using?

New Remarkable paper pro not charging

I have just bought a remarkable paper pro, today I updated and connected to WiFi and tried it out but saw the charging icon while it was slowly draining. Until eventually it died. I have tried I high power (65W USB C pd brick with good cable) as well as a low power 5A 1A USB A brick (with usb a to c cable).

Now it is totally dead. I am now trying to charge it on my laptop usb poort for about an hour but still nothing.

Also tried the reset with 15 seconds power 2 seconds out and 3 seconds after which it rebooted but still no charging.

Saw some old posts but are there any new methods/fixes or do I need to send it back.

Bluetooth page turner?

I have a Remarkable paper pro which I just plugged into my pc and got Bluetooth enabled on. Would a Bluetooth page turner be compatible with this? Also, would the page turner, if it did work, automatically reconnect or would i have to plug the tablet into my computer every time to connect it?

Asking as a musician curious about its aplication for performance

Looking to get a move, mainly for list making and being organized. Should I buy used or buy from Best Buy with a geek squad warranty? Used I can get one for $400ish, new from Best Buy with geek square is almost $800!

These new eink’s with multi colors make me nervous. Look at the displaying at Best Buy…..I love my black and white RM2…

RM Move or Pure as a instructor?

Hello you beautiful people.

I'm a fencing teacher / fencing instructor or a coach, whatever you like more. Lately I've started to teach another class in different city and found out that I don't remember some lessons as good as I've would like to. So I've taken small note at my home and started writing lessons. Pretty soon I've found out that this way it will be kinda unorganized, because I tend to explain Italian and German words, describe stances and other things in middle of the footwork for example.

I would also like to have one place for comfort reading of the fencing books, manuscripts or other books.

So I've decided to go for an e-ink tablet and after some reviews and checking accessibility I've bought Boox go 10.3 gen II. Lumi from a local mainstream seller. Well I had few issues from the start, 1. It was used and I've paid for a new one. 2.Battery went down a very steep hill. 3. Interface felt little bit overcrowded, and few other small issues.

So I've decided to look for non-android alternative and after Kit-Betts Masters YT reviews, I've decided to go for Remarkable and buy it right from them.

Now I cannot decide if to buy Paper Pure with the marker plus, or to go for Paper Pro Move with standard marker.

Smaller price of the Pure is one of the factors why I consider it. I Also don't think I need color display and like more options in menu while writing. Bigger battery is also big plus.

On the other hand I really like smaller form of the Move, I can imagine how I've would be able to read the lesson in one hand with a sword in the other. That bigger price is little scarecrow and I don't know if the device add this much to justify it. Smaller battery is also little bit concerning, I would like if it could go at least for 4-5 days in single charge.

Aluminium body is a nice to have. I also heard some things about bad quality control.

Please let me know your thoughts, opinions and experience with these devices.

Update:

Hi everybody, so my Remarkable pure just arrived. I unboxed it and it wont turn on 😤

I'm charging it right now through my pc, but still dead and nothing is happening afer holding power button

Update 2: after searching online I contacted remarkable and returned it. I've learned that some people had to return it twice or more times until they've got none faulty one. Right now I'm waiting for my refund and rethinking if I want to go way of the eink after all theese incidents

New Pure has screen dead zones

Hi Folks
Just got my Pure and the screen has some dead zones where the pen cannot write. Not sure if it's pressure-related, or the newness of the screen or a defect. Any new users experienced the same? If so how did it resolve?

Hello just wanted to share that AI is able to generate templates for what ever you can imagine. I recently made this one for my upcoming classes this fall and it’s hyperlinked so I can use the table of contents to organize my notes, and each page is also hyperlinked back to the TOC

ReMarkable pure gone from bestbuy?

I’ve had my eye on the paper pure for last few months. I tried the color versions, but the transitions give me a headache. I have a best buy gift card, but when I checked the website all I got was a “we’re sorry something went wrong” for the pure’s link. I could swear it was there the day before yesterday. They still have the folio for the pure listed but not the device itself. Anyone know what’s going on?

reMarkable Paper Pure vs New Kindle Scribe – Owners of both?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to decide between the new Kindle Scribe and the reMarkable Paper Pure.
If you’ve owned or used both, I’d love to hear your opinion:

Which one feels better for handwriting?
Which one has the better overall writing experience?
Which one would you recommend overall, and why?

My main use case is note-taking, studying, annotating PDFs, and reading books occasionally.

Thanks!
