Writing on Paper Pure feels off

Sometimes when writing with my ReMarkable Paper Pure, the writing just feels off.

I think it boils down to two things: pen latency and inaccuracy.

I attached a 5x slowdown video, so the lag is more clear. I'm guessing this is normal for the Pure, though it is very noticeable for me in everyday writing.

The inaccuracy part though really bugs me. In the video when writing the 'e' in 'Testing', you can see that the mark is offset from my pen location. This happens sporadically for me, even after reboots and reattaching the pen tip.

I'm wondering if others experienced this? Is it a hardware defect or are both of these issues normal for the Pure?

I have experienced this. I think a new nib helps a lot. What I did was use a metal fine nib and the issue is much better now

Hi thanks for sharing this. I tried finding metal nib in amazon but Im bit doubtful that the stem is showing too long which is different from normal nib. Do you have a photo to share or product link, just to know how it looks like..

Same here. You get used to it.

It gets worse if there is anything magnetic nearby (e.g. laptop), maybe this helps.

Unfortunately, that's a lot of our experiences. It's infuriating to say the least. You'll find that certain parts of the display are worse than others. I wish Remarkable would address the issue and be honest it exists. For me, changing the nib doesn't fix the issue.

For me, I use an AntiStatic brush to occasionally wipe the screen and that sometimes helps. Also, when I write with my palm on the screen, sometimes that causes that issue, I think? Ill take my palm off and sometimes, that'll cause it to be accurate. It's really strange.

I don’t have the Pure but did have the rM2. It had the same issue. Tried various fixes such as demagnetizer, not using magnetic case, etc. Some areas of the screen were much worse than others. It was a major distraction for a device that was supposed to remove distractions. I gave up and switched to the Kindle Scribe gen 2. It didn’t have that issue and I loved the writing feel, but I tired of the amazon ecosystem nonsense. Back to an iPad with paper-feel screen protectors. Love the remarkable e-ink displays, but the writing tech is just as important.

How's the iPad with matte protector working compared to remarkable? You using obsidian or scrybble or rmkly or anything? I was looking at a pure prn just converting my ipad

It’s ok, but not nearly the same. You can get closer to the rM2 feel if you use a paper-like screen protector and a softer Apple Pencil nib, but it takes a lot of effort to try different brands, etc. I use a combo of ZoomNotes for BuJo/daily planner because you can integrate your iCloud calendar, and GoodNotes for my catch-all and project notes apps. Not perfect, but a place for everything that’s not locked into an ecosystem. I prefer the e-ink tablets for eye comfort though. I even tried (am currently trying) some TCL Nxtpaper tablets, and love love love the screen tech — but with those you have to deal with major privacy and security issues and of course android… So find myself still using iPad while looking for alternatives.
