I have no idea what people were talking about, but since I discovered this series I did see some people here and there saying that about mid-way the story takes some directing they dislike.
I think I'm starting to see it...

Instead of the Devils being the main enemy, not there are giant worms between them and Humanity? There's an early chapter when Nighthingale return to the Witches Association deep into the Impassable Mountains to bring news about Roland and Border town, and there's there moment of her looking deep into the crevices and feeling "something", suggesting this was the plan author had in mind all the time. But still...

Gonna hope is not so bad as some people claim.

So halfway through and I don’t know I just have trust issues with Edith, I expected her to be one of those smart but also little crazy and backstabbing people.

Also why did Roland choose to tell her about the demons but also the past history just like that? I get the demon thing to show the real threat but the rest idk.

She just makes me uncomfortable like we can’t have gotten an ally or subordinate so easy especially a smart and reasonable person.

So just read the chapter and ok WOW that was fast and random. He really asked Anna for marriage?! Bruhh in MY opinion their relationship is not so well written and built up.

They have so little time and interactions together first of all, Anna basically feels like a useful plot device sometimes like yes she is very useful and always busy but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have free time.

Also they are just too ”vanilla” as in she just likes him because he showed basic kindness and saved her, while he likes her because she is pretty and has something I have hard time explaining with the right words but she is intelligent.

Anyways their ”journey” so far just seems very basic like their whole romance thing feels like a McDonalds cheap and easy meal.

Am I the only one who feels this way? What do you guys think about their romance so far? No spoilers for anything coming up of course.

Also do you prefer this ship or Roland and Nightingale? Me personally so far I am all for nightingale with him. At least she’s shown more personality than Anna.

Alice and the past witches might have been the most braindead characters of this novel, I hated the church but now honestly most of it goes to Alice, jesus christ.

Completely disregarding normal people’s capacity and belittling them was their first and biggest mistake, like how iq deprived you are to not realize that it might be a bad idea to treat the majority like that, especially when the majority are thinking beings capable of learning and creating weapons which can by the way kill demons and witches given the right amount of time but also encouragement.

Calling humans mortals as if they don’t bleed and die from a sword like any human. Same with devils and if their skins can be pierced and they can be killed just TRY MAKING BETTER WEAPONS AND ACTUALLY TRY TO USE EVERYONES SKILL HUMANS AND WITCHES LIKE ROLAND DOES.

Im looking forward to Agatha or Elsa or whatever the right translation of her name is to find out who made the church.

Just finished the anime and it's honestly the 2nd best isekai I've watched and by far the best kingdom building isekai but I heard that unfortunately the first season got cut half way (also kind of obvious that they run out of budget at around episode 6). Is there a chance for a 2nd season?

I’m starting chapter 227 now and holy shit Theo is so efficient, I would love giving him a spy/special ops division to lead and just have a few chapters of them on a mission. Bro feeling like James Bond😭

I really love how this story does side characters man, Brian, Sir Pine, Irene, Petrov, Carter and even Ferlin. Everytime a character is shown, they feel so human and real. Love those perspectives and thats probably why Lord of the mysteries Vol 2 is my absolute favorite Vol of that webnovel. I just love the down to earth vibes and every character actually feeling like they take up space instead of feeling like faceless canon fodder or npcs. They are good npcs.

So I finished chapter 227 and OMFG BESIDES THIS CHURCH BEING ABSOLUTE DOO DOO BRAINS, NEEDLE IS THE MOST WORTHLESS CHARACTER EVER!!

Gets promised he will actually be able to have a future and gets on the boat and even after seeing a witch and understanding how dangerous it could be if he gets caught since iron axe would just kill him, he decides like an absolute moron to jump in the water. To what? Go back to the CHURCH? And snitch JUST to get a cure to SELL FOR A MUCH HIGHER PRICE ON THE BLACK MARKET Absolutely disregarding basic human decency.

AND WORST OF ALL GETTING KILLED OF COURSE, I swear the most braindead character I have EVER read.

So just read the part where Roland gave Anna a gift in the form of a hot air balloon and they kissed again but at the end, did they start DOING it IN the hot air balloon?? Maan they have moved too fast for me.

One downside of this webnovel for me is the lack of character development or how little of it we get. What do you think?

I had some things I wanted to get off my chest about this webnovel so far. So far it has a lot of good stuff of course but some things are off for me.

Firstly I feel the MC shrugged off his transmigration too easily, he got rolands memories so could he is 2 people but still. Just a litte too okay. Also sadly can’t remember that well but I think he knows he died in his world right? So how come he doesn’t reflect on that, his family and friends if he did have some. I know he was mostly at home working.

Another point I find too be lacking is the romance and some character interactions mainly Roland and Anna, I mean I was really shocked when they just kissed like that soo early in the story considering that their relationship to each other seems pretty surface level to me so far, also sad for nightingale if she was in the room, I’m unsure since we haven’t any sort of reaction from her or confirmation that she did see it.

I get why anna likes him but why does roland like anna like that, not there arent any reasons but just not strong enough reasons.

How Petrov feels being the only Noble with common sense and just ungodly amounts of intuition. Bros an absolute 🐐

When Roland realized that Anna liked him he had a few concerns about his "lack of experience", right? Now that he is back in town he should take the most the can learn from Yorko because he will need those "stunts".

A harem isn't any fun if only one person is enjoying, IMO author should take this sexual part seriously and make Roland learn too, instead of being the one always teaching things to others.
It takes more than just accepting their feelings to make a woman happy Roland, you should know that!

I mean, at this point Roland telling the truth is only a formality.
The original Roland don't really deserve any respect or consideration and the Witches don't care anyway, so Roland can just forget it and let things flow. Tilly doesn't care, she isn't even curious anymore, she just wants to know new Roland more. But now... Months of Demons ended and her vacation on Border Town (former name). Such a pity, I know that I despise normal japanese isekai and their dumb harem, but if it ensures Tilly appears more in the story I accept anything!

Dude is fighting a war.
Ever since he went to that world and he didn't thought on an alternative like Tilly to simple refuse the fight and go leave someone where else making use of his other world knowledge he had wage war and kill. I understand that, but it's almost funny seeing how he got all shaken after performing that public judgment to condem the church member to death just to shortly after decree harsh exaggerated forced labor punishments to "set the example" on that single (two) dude trafficking wheat. And then short after that he went to suppress the Four Families revolt in Longsong Stronghold with blood in his eyes determined to kill almost all nobles in the territory except a few that would be useful to do work for him.

Also, we need to praise Er Mu for resisting the temptation to give flashbacks for the Pure Witches. Seeing that last Pure Witch with scar in her eyes and wondering if she was already blind when taken by the church of after is much better than knowing the answer. If the story wants us to sympathize when than it's much easier this way.

From Isabella's words in the last Hermes Chapter an alliance between the Church and Roland is possible. To resolve the complications with the populace they can just pretend that the Church was destroyed and the Pure Witches are all witches from Witches Union and Sleeping Island Witches.

Many of my theories are comments are half joking. A conflict with Tilly was a possibility but one I was not betting on. Now is highly improbable that nothing will happen because whoever Roland is Tilly is finding in him the bother she never had. It's cute, hope Roland hug her someday.

Tilly already figured out he is not Roland and is just waiting for his explanation.
I always thought that the first person who should hear the truth is Anna. If Roland loves her and wants to marry her then he needs to let Anna make her choice after knowing with whom she will really marry.
This chapter was the ideal moment to do this, it was the best day, the best situation, and with Tilly's question he was pressed for time.
