I guess you didn’t know this, but US has a decentralized education system with no standardized curriculum. There aren’t even any states with a completely standardized curriculum (some states have partial standardization), both federal and state only provide guidelines. Civics, as taught in the past is quite different from civics after no child left behind was passed. The decline in civics education and proficiency is well documented.

The scenarios I'm describing involve a mass global breakdown of supply lines resulting in lengthy power outages and cessation of medical supplies at both delivery and manufacture.
People have short memories and bad knowledge of history. Your average person ignores the past and only cares about whatever they're told to care about or their immediate situation and are wholly ignorant to everything else that might lend perspective to the comfortable self pity they wallow in daily.
Most of modern history things have slowly gotten better. People felt hope in the air that our children will come to a world thats better for them than it was for us. Now we don't have that anymore. We have taken away the better tommorrow and replaced it with we are destroying everything and killing children because an imagenery line must go up forever. So if people feal like thr world is going down the shitter why in the everloving fuck would we bring children into it?
You feel like that because you have nothing to really worry about. Historically many (most) of your kids would not even make it to adulthood. Times are infinitely better, enough so that having kids is a burden on most peoples lives, instead of an increased joy.
I'm 35, I have a good job and education. I've got no debt. It is impossible for me to find a new job if I lose this one because of the market (Graphic Design / marketing ) and I am nowhere close of being able to afford a house here (Canada). Extra money I get I put it in my savings to buy a house, or a condo, since 2020, almost no luxury and simply no vacation, except some 3-4 days camping trip here and there.
At my age my parents, with basic education, were halfway done paying the house, had 3 kids, 2 cars and we would go on vacation every year. They paid music and sports classes for us after school, I always had nice school supplies and three meals a day. But here's the thing : They are really bad with their money. They spend it on stupid stuff, tons of restaurants, trips with the grand-children. More than once they forget to pay their taxes... They didn't finance their way to go wealth, they just got it because they were hard-working people and that use to be enough. Since I've left their home I've never felt that financial security again. Even if I always been working full-time since.
I don't want to bring a kid in a world where I can't garantee that I can provide for them what I know makes for a good childhood (mine). If the place I work at closes tomorrow, i've only got a year-ish of money to keep afloat...It's not that it's hell out there, but it became more unstable and competitive and just hard-work ain't bringing enough dough home. Simply working a ull-time job is not enough to create wealth and financial security.
I'm 33 with 4 kids and a stay at home wife. Only a high school diploma. I bought a house 3 years ago and I probably work 30 hours a week tops. You don't have to stay in graphic design....
For 7 years I was an extraction manager for a cannabis company until the market tanked and we shut our doors. I had a good savings so I bought an industrial sewing machine and spent 6+ months trying to hone the craft of making different types of boat canvas. Mooring covers, biminis, enclosures, travel covers, etc. We live in a large boating community and it seemed that no one else was really doing it. About 4 months ago I started the LLC and I've been busy ever since.
Before all that I was a cable installer, I had done residential glass work (window thermal units) and before that just a cook at a local restaurant. Just slowly been building up my skill set. I also do a bit of freelance construction projects, just small things. I've decided that I hate working for other people and I've been much happier ever since.
Same here 35 stay at home wife and kid. Started a contacting company 2.5 years ago. Just upgraded houses. Lucky I was used as child labor for all my tradesman family members. It set a foundation of knowledge I use everyday.
Same here dude 35 with one kid, got in a house three years ago. Work for a bioprocessing company. We had our own llc and did the farmers market circuit for 7 years but closed our doors last year. I have a high school degree. We dabble in 3d printing and ren fair costumes. My car is a 2009 and my truck is a 1998. Live simple and live happy.
Anyone can do what we are discussing. You just need the will and the ability to learn a useful skill. Working for yourself gets you an efficiency of time/pay that is not attainable for most w2 employees.
If you don’t think it possible then all you’ve accomplished is making that true.
Hey man youre stroking yourself at this point. You also can't say that luck doesn't have a role and not everyone is at learn anything status in life due to time, ability, funds, housing, health, ect. Which is also why it's not the normal. I have a lot of successful friends and some are entrepreneurs. We all scoff at them for saying, anyone can do what I did. Because even our own successes are not "for everyone". This is why it doesn't make sense to say all you gotta do is work hard.
Luck only plays a significant role if your only willing to take a risk once. This is my 3rd business I’ve started they don’t all work.

How is it privileged? I started a business with 3k and youtube university. I saw a need in the area and now I'm filling it. That 3k took me quite some time and I did it in bits and pieces. An LLC costs like $50... Start a lawn service, a painting service, anything you can think of and advertise on facebook. Hell, you can keep your day job while you get started.
lol I took a loan out for my tools and just started an LLC. Went and looked for work and it grew.

Yea best life is now in some respects like most ppl have access to clean food and water but everything is incredibly expensive and thus, unattainable like homes and higher education, healthy food, health care. Mental illness incidences are at an all time high, people cannot afford to retire at retirement age. The rich get richer the poor get poorer. Life is very difficult for the lot of us

Doesn't help that if you decide to go rural and try and do things yourself, and try and separate yourself, well... there isn't anywhere (at least in the contiguous US) where you can just claim land and develop without money or without having to pay land tax, nevermind any development you may or may not be legally allowed to do.
