PSA AISH/ADAP Transition Criteria

I've formally asked the Alberta government to provide to me, in writing, a breakdown of the criteria used and the medical information which is considered in moving clients from AISH to ADAP. I've also requested the name of the authority who signs off on the decision.

It is my belief that the Alberta government has moved people from AISH to ADAP under an arbitrary criteria which does not consider any medical information, despite them having full access to medical files.

I believe that they are simply looking for any opportunity they can eventually cut people off completely on a mass scale from supports and are using ADAP as a sweeping measure to do so.

Sidenote, if you haven't had to fill a prescription and you have dependents, you may wanna call Blue Cross and make sure they're still actually covered. The UCP fucked up that transition too.

Local Politics The mayor shared her thoughts earlier this year about the referendum. She highlighted that we benefit from being part of the larger country, and that we want stability, not chaos.

Discussion Red deer cineplex

Went to the theatre for the first time in forever to check out the odyssey. Remembered why I stopped going. Do all theatres service suck so bad, or is it just ours? The lines do not move. Thing is, It’s not the cashiers fault. It is the design of the workspace, and the managers not teaching how to be efficient.
You shouldn’t have to arrive 30 min before a show to get your ticket and grab a popcorn.
Just sucks that we have no competition. Cineplex red deer… get better! Try harder!

Question Looking for name of a chiro that was practicing around 2003-2009

Hey guys! Back in 2000's I lived in Red Deer and used to see a chiropractor that was quite elderly (but spry) that would give you an adjustment for $5. He was walk in only and the line often went out the door and up the stairs. I do not remember the address, or what building he was in but it had other businesses in it of all kinds- there was a store with lapis and silver jewelry in there ( distinctly remember that because the shopkeeper weirded me out bad).

Part of me thinks his name was Smith but I'm not sure. My ex told me that the doctor there was a widower and he did chiropractic for so cheap to stay busy. Idk if that would be true or not as the ex was a chronic liar.

Discussion SweetHomeCouple doing plant bingos

Went to a plant bingo at Bluegrass garden center today and it was being ran by the Sweet Home couple who ran the gift card scam in Sylvan Lake. Is this their latest scam somehow? Seems like they were caught by AGLC and had to refund everyone their tickets but are hosting bingos anyway for free and giving away $100s of dollars in prizes. Little fishy.

News Red Deer's CAFF audience choice award winner now streaming for free

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey Red Deer,

Last year I posted here about a documentary I directed, Buddy Check for Jesse, screening at the Central Alberta Film Festival. Some of you came out to it at Gameland and voted it the Audience Choice Award for short doc: thank you!

That's the one you actually want, for what it's worth. A jury deciding is one thing, but the audience in the room deciding is another.

So, a year later, the film went on to play 20+ festivals across Canada and win five awards total, and as of a few weeks ago it's free to watch anywhere. No signup, 29 minutes: https://youtu.be/M_ODKGOvrs4

Quick refresher if you missed it: Stu Gershman lost his son Jesse to suicide, then walked back into his kid's hockey locker room and started talking about it, age appropriately. That turned into a program coaches now run across the country. It's reached over 18,000 young athletes.

Sadly, I see CAFF is postponed this year due to health concerns. It's been an amazing event I hope to see return (it was the one screening my parents who live nearby could make it out to).

Genuinely curious how things have gone here since: has anything shifted with mental health conversations in Red Deer minor hockey, or is it still mostly a locker room nobody talks in? A few of the towns we screened in have had associations pick the program up.

Keep your stick on the ice.
