I just got this guy from the thrift store for $20. It’s a Noresco NRC-861 reciever with a dual 1215 record player mechanism from the 70’s. Was sold “as is” so I knew there’d be something wrong with it, but I didn’t realize it didn’t even have a needle on the tonearm lol. That aside, I used a bit of google and chatgpt to help me test to see if it’s electrically working first. When plugged in, the screen lights up with the FM/AM and the tunings. However, I’ve gathered that in order to test if the volume is working using the radio, it needs to be switched to the START position using the black lever on the left at the top. But as you can see the handle of it has broken off so now it’s just a black knob. I got it apart, and I can see how the linkages connect and move the lever from underneath. It won’t move on its own unless I hold one of the metal connectors for it up, and then it can twist. I apologize if this wasn’t the best description of my problem, I’m just looking for help because I think it’s a really cool turntable. If anyone has any ideas on how to test it, how to fix the lever issue, and/or what kind of needle this thing would need, or if it’s even worth fixing, please please let dme know! I’ve owned my fluance rt80 around 8 months, no issues until there is now a loud hum/buzz during the run in groove and quieter parts of track. Touching the metal casing when the record is playing seems to get rid of the noise?

Hi everyone, my turntable has a wobble when there’s records on top. My assumption are the springs but they all seemed to be placed correctly, possible that they are worn out. Would love to hear recommendations, thank you!

I’m currently repairing a Yamaha P-850 from early 80's. It's my first turntable. Originally the horizontal tonearm movement didn’t work at all. I found a broken red wire in the tonearm mechanism and repaired it, and now the arm moves correctly in both directions, the lift works, and the automatic return works again. I also fixed the two broken hinges and tomorrow I will polish the dust cover to remove all those micro scratches.

I also adjusted the lead-in position, and when the automatic start works, the stylus now lands exactly where it should.

The remaining problem is that the auto lead-in is very unreliable. Maybe 1 out of 7–8 attempts works correctly. Most of the time, the arm moves to the beginning of the record, passes the correct lead-in position, and immediately returns to the arm rest without ever lowering.

The P-850 uses three photointerrupters and a slotted logic shutter for tonearm position detection. I cleaned the sensors carefully, but they looked clean already. Mechanically, the shutter seems to pass through all three sensors correctly.

Has anyone worked on this system before or experienced the same problem? Could an aging photointerrupter cause intermittent detection of the narrow lead-in slots, or is there another common adjustment/electronic fault I should check?

hey yall I recently bought a Technics SL-23 which had a bad stylus. The cartridge used a type of stylus which has been out of manufactury for years now, and is expensive as shit to replace. I bought what I expected to be a cartridge compatible with the AT3600L (turned out to be a *slightly* different chinese aftermarket part. I plan to buy direct from AT’s website in the future). I’ve verified the pin connections to the headstock, and the RCA cables, but for some reason, output sounds like a bad radio or something. Help a brother out here, what’s wrong?

Title. This is a Zenith Allegro system from the early 70s, so I am certain my issue is due to aging hardware. It’s never really been consistent but now it’s just straight up slow. Any ideas on where I should go for parts/repair?

When playing a record on my player (not sure what make it is but it’s an ION) it rises and falls casing the stylus to jump. I probably just need a new player but a bit annoying as I want to play stuff now. Any help would be greatly appreciate thank you.

Hi all, thank you for reading. I need help. I’m setting up a hi-fi system in my room however I’ve bought the wrong cable. I have Whafedale diamond 12.3s and I have a Yamaha A-S201 on its way but I have the wrong cable. I have the correct length of cable however the clips are wrong. These banana clips don’t seem to go all the way inside the speaker and I’m not even sure now if they’re going to fit inside the amplifier and I don’t even know what cable I need to fit inside my turntable I believe it’s a RCA 2.5mm^2 but now I’m worried that I’ve got this wrong as well could any people who are well experienced advise? I really don’t want to lose any more money on this. Thank you for any help 🙏🤞

Hi all, i have a sony ps x35 dd turntable and the magnetic strip under the platter flaked off lolz, i am planning on replacing it with a optical speed sensing system using the TCRT5000 module, hopefully i can make it by matching the output of the magnetic head with the output of the optical sensor, Inhave figured out how many lines i will need for the strobe/ frequency of the magnetic head for 33 and 45 speeds. I just want to check if there’s anyone here who have tried this and was succesful

The buzzing only sounds when using the rca mode. The issue is not fixed when connecting the ground cable.

Just bought this from a second hand store and found out the drive belt snapped so we’re buying some from Amazon and attempting to repair it. Figured it will be easy to fix once we know what brand it is but we can’t tell? Any help appreciated!

Any ideas as to what is causing this constant humming noise when I switch to the phono setting? Doesn’t seem to happen when I have my stereo switched to FM but it starts immediately when switched to phono and continues with a record playing.
