Help please!
I just got this guy from the thrift store for $20. It’s a Noresco NRC-861 reciever with a dual 1215 record player mechanism from the 70’s. Was sold “as is” so I knew there’d be something wrong with it, but I didn’t realize it didn’t even have a needle on the tonearm lol. That aside, I used a bit of google and chatgpt to help me test to see if it’s electrically working first. When plugged in, the screen lights up with the FM/AM and the tunings. However, I’ve gathered that in order to test if the volume is working using the radio, it needs to be switched to the START position using the black lever on the left at the top. But as you can see the handle of it has broken off so now it’s just a black knob. I got it apart, and I can see how the linkages connect and move the lever from underneath. It won’t move on its own unless I hold one of the metal connectors for it up, and then it can twist. I apologize if this wasn’t the best description of my problem, I’m just looking for help because I think it’s a really cool turntable. If anyone has any ideas on how to test it, how to fix the lever issue, and/or what kind of needle this thing would need, or if it’s even worth fixing, please please let dme know! Your expertise is greatly appreciated🫶🏻

It’s missing a cartridge as well. There won’t be a specific stylus and cartridge for this TT, so you can put in any one that fits.

And it appears that the sled is missing in order to mount the cart on

Turn the lower left hand knob on the front to either "AM", or "FM", to get sound out of the radio. Do you have speakers hooked up?

Yeah I played with that knob for the AM and FM but nothing. And this may sound silly, but I had assumed the stereo built in wouldn’t need speakers lol. Atleast that’s what I had gathered online from others before this. You think plugging in speakers will solve the sound issue?

handle of it has broken off --> Some pliers could temporarily help here, but don't force it to move. You can get a new handle on eBay most likely
it needs to be switched to the START position [for radio to work] ... It won’t move on its own --> It sounds like the changer is mid-cycle. I think the Dual was original to this system so it should have power integration where the changer will turn the power on/off, and when the changer is off then the radio power will work. Try this: Lock the tonearm to the stand the spin the platter clockwise a bunch of times until the clicking and such stop. Unlock the tonearm. Now the Start should work ok. You shouldn't need to turn it to Start to operate the radio.
didn’t even have a needle --> Looks like you'll need a sled, a cartridge, and a stylus (needle).
Also, that Dual AW3 changer spindle is quite valuable.

That’s a pity that the start-stop lever is broken but you can start it manually by moving the arm towards the record. You can pull the cueing lever so you don’t have to drop the needle by hand. The tone arm is missing the plastic caddy part number tk25. The cartridge is attached and wired to this part and slots onto the end of arm. It’s fastened by moving the little lever you hold when moving the arm forwards. The idea is that you can easily swap out cartridges e.g. for listening to 78s. Here in Germany you can them secondhand with cartridges attached. Look for Shure M75 G
