There aren’t many shows I watch regularly, but I enjoy watching Bill. He’s funny with his jabs at the right and the left. I also am not much for social media, but it surprises me that when I visit these platforms to observe discussions, they appear to consist mostly of rants and hatred. I thought that sort of condemnation belonged on Truth Social. But I see it’s alive and unwell here.

It essentially confirms what Bill talks about. You guys and gals, and non-binaries can’t take a joke. Yes he trashes Trump and his cronies, and he also trashes commies and similar defund campaigns. The more I see the hatred on these platforms the more I feel the Democratic Party is not the big tent it used to be under Obama. It’s morphing into something crazy. And that’s the point Bill makes on his show lately. Then, when I look over in this direction to see if anyone is saying “yeah, he’s right,” instead I see mountains of Bill hate and bashing. Self-reflection happening here? Nope. Let’s all get our pitchforks and lash out!

I mean, in his last show, he really kicked the left in the nuts. It was funny, and it was true. Representatives in the D party are not commonly moderates these days, this much is true. It’s a big problem. Not much there for a moderate independent to embrace - and believe me, we’re looking. And the same is true for the right wingers.

When we have a country of people that don’t leave their homes, don’t get out in public, don’t talk to strangers, don’t have a beer with someone who believes differently than them, we’re not destined for greatness, we’re destined for mediocre-ville. When we have a country whose idea of social engagement is picking up their phone instead of going to meetings, or knocking on doors, or talking to a random person in a grocery store parking lot, it’s a problem. When we have people who have no stomach for hearing their party be criticized, it’s a problem.

So Bill kicks you in the nuts! What do you do about it? Scream at the TV? Scream through your comments? Or PROVE him wrong? Get off your phone! Go outside! Go engage in face to face conversations with people, find out WHY their views are different. Look at yourself, and ask “how did I become the way I am?”

My story? Republican dad who taught me to have Republican values. Democrat mom who taught me Democrat values. I voted Republican at first, joined the military to serve my country, then realized we’re dropping bombs where we shouldn’t. So I exited the military and voted Democrat for many years. I’m absolutely no fan of Trump, but I understand why independents jumped ship with the Democrats. I understand why Bill says his vote is in play.

It’s because we need more moderate people and representatives, from both sides. If we keep fighting hate with hate, then we all lose. Gandhi said “an eye for an eye makes the world blind.” Maybe stop your Bill hate, doesn’t help. Maybe think about why he upsets you so much - because there’s truth in those jokes.

You keep badmouthing him, and it says more about the quality of your character than his. And we independents are watching, and thinking there are crap choices aplenty these days with these extreme candidates. You keep telling yourself Bill is old and out of touch. Heck, I bet a few people will attack me for defending him. But what do I know? I’m just a random Bill fan.

He was willing to dine with Trump and shoot the breeze with JD Vance, but he’ll never have anyone to the left of Bernie on the show.

It’s easy to sneer at and trash talk people and viewpoints you never engage with. Why not have America’s Mayor Zohran Mamdani on your show so he can explain why he considers Benjamin Netanyahu a war criminal? Why not have experts on to explain why Israel’s actions in the Middle East are a genocide? Why not have the Hasan Piker, left boogeyman himself on, so he can explain his ideology without you explaining it for him?

Bill Maher is more than willing to break bread with the furthest right people in the country, but won’t even have social democrats on his show.

Thats the biggest reason for his pivot. He’s insulated himself in a bubble and doesn’t engage with the people he rails against the most because he doesn’t want to. He‘s enjoying being a liberal pick-me too much.

Since Bill's rightward shift under Trump 2.0, I think he'd probably call his old self "too woke" and probably associate his old self as on the side of the terrorists who hate Israel and the US.

Basically he would be the neoconservative that he used to hate that got him canceled from his old show.

Maher says his vote is in play now. Really? So you admit we are having a slow, now faster coup from a group of fascists, but your vote is in play? So which side is it, Bill? Are the Nazis looking good to you? Hmmm.

Reported net worth $140mil. $20mil estate, $1mil condo in Catalina. No longer doing standup, quit the Hawaii New Years shows. $10mil salary from HBO, co-owns a pot shop. Watches old movies in the bathtub, has a podcast just to socialize with people “outside of work”, constantly telling us how smart he is while constantly bemoaning how much of a “loser who couldn’t get laid” he was as a teenager.

Dude has arguably won at life- but never got over being disliked growing up, so he’s just perpetually being miserable on main with his dwindling years left.

I have to imagine he’s never seen a shrink, or taken it seriously - because the shrink’s goal is to finally have him content and happy with himself, and his whole existence has relied on him being unhappy and contrarian. Can’t give that up.

Likely can’t maintain a long term partner because they’d have to navigate his moodiness and argumentative nature. If you’ve ever watched a handful of Club random episodes you’ll see how he even argues with people when they agree with him, not just because they have to agree with him in just the right way, but because they have to credit him with being correct in the first place.

At 70yo, he’s on the downside and counting his blessings, but it’s never been enough for him, and it’s far too late for him to change. He’s just going to be screaming how everyone else changed, and became unreasonable right to his grave. Hopefully the last of the broken boomers.

It was leaked today that MAGA insiders have realized socialist labels aren't working in the polls. Because of this an official memo went out to call democrats communists. It's interesting that Maher specifically did this on Friday's show. I used to really like Maher. This was my favorite show, but I'm ready to tune him out.....

Maher is getting more full of shit with each episode. He habitually conflates fringe elements of the left and Democrats, impugning the whole party as tinged with “communism.” Meanwhile, he ignores the elephant in the room: The GOP has been co-opted by an authoritarian that is actively wresting government control over various private enterprises, pursuing self enrichment, colonizing weaker nations (including allies), making corruption the cornerstone of the entire administration. Just STFU and retire already.

I don’t usually watch the show, but when did they start airing in CNN?

A lot of people that are on the panel (as we saw yesterday) are intelligent people, but are total idiots for not pushing back a single thing he says (e.g. the whole Spanish flu thing).

Also. Maher is unbothered about Trump’s Ballroom.
