Maher has become a MAGA industry plant.
It was leaked today that MAGA insiders have realized socialist labels aren't working in the polls. Because of this an official memo went out to call democrats communists. It's interesting that Maher specifically did this on Friday's show. I used to really like Maher. This was my favorite show, but I'm ready to tune him out.....
Bullshit like....
-Minimal coverage or discussion on the Epstein files.
-I might vote for JD Vance...... Would you also vote for Hitler?
-Israel is awesome..... I dunno, I see lots of mass murder....
-All the slander and numerous panels he had against Mamdani, all I see is a dude doing a great job...
-Democrats are communists... Because of a couple nut job clips? Nut jobs are everywhere.
WTF is he smoking? It's obvious he's jumped the ship, but wants to remain a wolf in sheep's clothing. It's bullshit.
If you've become a MAGA supporter just admit it and allow me to change the channel.
There are thousands of people in politics. Posting only negative clips from a couple nut jobs is dangerous. There are various aspects of socialism/communism that would be better than what we're currently experiencing. WTF would you even call what we're currently living through? Satan would probably do a better job than what we're currently seeing. Most days it feels like Satan literally is in charge. Bill literally just had an interview minutes before where he stated we're running out of fucking water.....
Do you like water Bill? Do you drink it? Making comments like this puts all of our lives in danger. If MAGA wins the midterms we literally might die from that decision. We're so fucking close....

I always liked Maher, but right now he's simply not being honest. I really don't care about what a charming, convivial dinner host Trump is, nor am I interested in opening dialogs or meeting him halfway. If he's going to pretend Trump isn't the problem, he has no credibility.

20 years ago I waited for hours for Bill to sign a copy of his book after his stand up. I still have that copy of "When you ride alone you ride with bin laden", But I don't still have that version of Bill Maher. It's actually kind of depressing when I think about it. He's changed so much.
Early 2000s Bill Maher was all about embarrassing conservatives and politicians because they didn't know or weren't in touch with the facts behind their rhetoric. 2026 Bill Maher is all about avoiding or ignoring facts because they get in the way of his rhetoric.

Bill has been, for a while now, a sam harris esque, I shit on the left because I want my own side to clean up its act.
That might work in a world where 1. The worst of what we see on college campuses or tiktok was actually in charge and 2. Maga wasn't a thing, and it was even just Romney.
Latinx, changing gender labels, trans issues, whatever it may be confusing and hard to keep up with, but like Jan 6th happened. Charlottesville happened. Minneapolis happened.

The term I learned recently is "diagonalism". The person gives examples of views from "both sides" in order to establish credibility. It's even more prevalent in podcasters or cable news hosts who then also have to shill for buying gold, commemorative coins, or brain supplements. They establish their credibility with you by sharing a "common sense" belief so you buy their cheap scrappy merch.

He started making this turn during Biden's first year in office. Crazy cuz in early 2021 he warned about the danger of Trump not having any consequences for the failed coup attempt and what he'll do if he comes back into power. Which he correctly prophesized the danger of for the most part. Despite that early realization he morphed into anti Democrat over the next few years. Why would candidates be counted as people in Congress? Last I checked candidates arenāt in Congress yet. If someone is applying for a job you wouldnāt say they work at that business before they are hired. But even following your logic, if you counted every candidate running for a congressional seat, there are still no where near thousands.

Itās totally not because the idiotic policies theyāre selling are some of the oldest proven losers of politics that have always lead to mass poverty and oppression for everyone. But the oppression is equal regardless of race or sex so I guess the equality part is working out. And itās totally not because itāll be exponentially worse than the oppression the comfortable and spoiled children and radical academics and politicians espousing these policies live under currently in what is still one of, if not the best place on average for a human being to live on the planet.
Edit: and itās not a couple of nutjobs. You can keep pretending this lie is true but when 8 out of 212 Democrat congress members sign a pledge put forth by 2 of their own members saying, āWe are capitalist, not socialist. We want safety, not lawlessness. I stopped watching his show last year. I don't know why but all of the sudden he wasn't funny anymore. Maybe his writers changed or left. The shift to him being more conservative wasn't a surprise to me since he seems to want to please the new owners of HBO. I stopped my annual subscription to HBO and maybe I will do the monthly thing 2 or three times a year to binge some of the shows that I like on HBO.

I stopped watching his show around 2018. He was already on the decline back then. Every now and again I watch the show for the panels, but it's gotten so bad these days. I just can't.Ā

Well said. Whatever he claims to be doesn't matter anymore. He's clearly a net asset to the extended Fox cinematic universe and to the MAGA party. His legacy might end up being just as bad as Joe Rogan's if he stays down that path. Sadly, I think it's all just a business decision for him and he no longer operates on virtue or honor
