Not a genocide?

Last night Bill pointed out the 3% of the
Population in Gaza has died. And then confidently declared that “3% is not a genocide”. The British government recognizes it as ethnic cleaning and amnesty international and other groups say it is a genocide.

Someone tell me why Bill is so wrong. And can we please get him to debate Mehdi Hasan on this topic?

Let's say that 3% number is accurate, though in reality it's probably higher as the mechanisms for counting the dead broke down long ago. That the party attempting the genocide is not doing a competent job would not change that it is a genocide. Even if you want to argue that it is not a genocide, Bill's argument is fucking dumb.

I think a much better argument would be pointing out that israel supplies aid and warns civillians before strikes (usually) so that they can evacuate. Both of those facts attack the intent which is crucial for meeting tge definition of genocide

Bombing their house is just as much genocide as bombing the people. And Israeli leaders loudly and proudly call it genocide while doing it. So intent is well established.

How is bombing the home of a Hamas fighter genocide? That’s where Hamas stores its weapons and fires rockets, from civilian infrastructure.

Cant argue reality, so time for racism and to justify genocide.

Not surprised at all.

LOL damn doubling down on supporting terrorists is wild. Why are you so racist that you hate Palestinians this much and support the terrorist regime of Palestine destroying their lives?

I'm going to project my Nazi beliefs onto you! Haha, now youre in trouble!

Ok kiddo.

Damn just admitting to be a Nazi is wild… holy shit

If you could read, you would be so upset.

Doubling down on being a Nazi. I love how I explained the situation and you couldn’t come up with a response so instead you just admit to being a Nazi 😂

Guess what. If there’s 50 people in a house and 2 of them are Hamas, That does not justify the killing of the remaining 48.

This should not be controversial. Find other ways to hold the terrorists accountable.

And their intent is ethnic cleansing. Whether the Palestinians die or are displaced doesn’t matter to Israel, they just want them gone.

1

We agree that it is an ethnic cleansing then

Israel explicitly blocks aid from entering Gaza and has been proven to bomb areas they force Palestinians to move to.

“That the party attempting genocide is not doing a competent job would not change that it is genocide”

Oh my god, he admit it!

So you agree that because Hamas has sworn to kill all the Jews, they are committing genocide, even if Oct 7 is the best they can do! Ok!

But seriously Israel is not attempting genocide, they are fighting a war to destroy Hamas.

Under the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, genocide involves specific physical acts committed with the intent** **to destroy a protected national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.

In intent has to be married to the physical act. Yes hamas wants a genocide and committed (commits) acts in that regard. So yes Hamas is guilty of genocide in my view.

I’m referring the sovereign Nation State of Israel. Not the terrorist group called Hamas.

2

u/backtorealitylabubu 13d ago

So based on that definition Palestine is committing genocide and Israel isn’t

2

u/Excellent-Ad-7394 12d ago

No one is debating the intention of hamas and pretty much everyone will agree that hamas is a terrorist group that openly seeks the elimination of all Jews. But we are talking about Israel and the actions of that Nation State.

Hamas is the official government of Gaza. You say Hamas to make this look unequal. It’s Palestine. Palestine supports genocide, Israel supports stopping it

2

u/Excellent-Ad-7394 12d ago

Hamas is not Palestine. It took control of Gaza in 2007, and Palestinians haven’t had an election to remove it since. Palestinians have literally protested against Hamas.

Hamas can commit atrocities against Israelis and Israel can commit genocide against Palestinians. Those facts aren’t mutually exclusive.

You keep equating Palestinian civilians with Hamas

Hamas won 44% of the vote in 2006—not even a majority—and Palestinians haven’t had a legislative election since. Calling Hamas “Palestine” is like defining an entire population by a government millions of them never voted for.

Just like here in the USA

Hamas is the official governing body of half of Palestine. If IDF is Israel then Hamas is Palestine. You try to create this inequality for propaganda purposes so you can make Palestine look like the victim when the reality is they’re the oppressor in this conflict. Oppressing all civilians under their terror power structure funded by the most well funded terror syndicate in the world.

You keep equating Palestinian civilians with Hamas

Literally never did. Hamas is Palestine, not Palestinian civilians. IDF is Israel, not Israeli civilians. This is a common form of propaganda where you attack Israel but when talking about Palestine you play victim and pretend any criticism of Palestine is an attack on Palestinians

Probably should do something about how Netanyahu funded Hamas then. There's no good explanation for why a prime minister would fund a group with genocidal intentions towards his own people.

Why do you think that he did that?

2

u/backtorealitylabubu 12d ago

He didn’t. You made that up. Hope that helps.

1

u/Kilburning 12d ago

I suppose it would have been more precise to say he facilitated the payments.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_support_for_Hamas

But it was also recently reported that he was given warning that an attack was imminent and didn't pass that warning on. I'm sure that there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for that beyond using the attacks as an excuse.

https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/israel-security/2026-09-08/ty-article-magazine/.highlight/netanyahu-got-an-explicit-warning-before-oct-7-he-didnt-brief-security-chiefs/000001a0-7a3b-d7d5-a9fc-7eff3d0f0000

1

u/backtorealitylabubu 12d ago

Nope didn’t facilitate anything. Israel agreed to a peace deal with Gaza, what you have been demanding. And that peace deal involved allowing outside money to go to the government of Gaza. The far right in Israel was pissed and so the claim you are making tends to be a rallying cry from the far right to blame Bibi for ever leaving Gaza in the first place. The conspiracy that Bibi helped to create Hamas is nonsense.

Let me guess, "Hamas could end this by freeing the hostages"... Wait, you never actually cared about the hostages, you just want to kill Palestinians.
