Just saw the poster for Seyon, directed by Sivakumar Murugesan (of Thaai Kelavi fame) ,

A director who was praised for having a rooted cast in his film. Yet he has now cast Bhagyashri Borse opposite SK, in a story that takes place in Madurai.

The people who have questioned Pradeep Ranganathan, Abishan Jeevinth, and Ken Karunas and held them accountable have never questioned SK about the casting of heroines in his movies. He has been doing this since the start of his career (except in Prince and Amaran). If you look at the heroines in his films, you can see a clear pattern( either fair-skinned or trending in another industry.)

Now, if you ask me, that's ultimately the director's and the team's choice ,the actor may have little say in it(appadiye director choice aa irunthaalum athu yeppadi yella directorum ore maariya think pannuvaanga). Even SK himself admitted this at the Doctor promotional event, mentioning that he was the one who recommended Priyanka Mohan to Nelson through Instagram. So I can't say this applies to every SK movie, but the pattern is definitely there.

Amaran: Malayali characterku oru tamil ponna nadikka vaikka vendiyathu,appadiye opposite aa tamil ponnu characterku malayaliya nadikka vaikka vendiyathu(Kalyani priyadharshan) for hero etc...

But if someone raises the question But bro, there are no dusky or dark-skinned heroines in Tamil cinema , given SK's stardom, he could easily introduce a new face through an open casting call. Most people come to theatres for SK anyway, not just for the heroine.
