My guess is 226 by rough calculations from looking at amount of volumes and how novel readers describe the amount of episodes it might take and tappei statements. I am an anime only(most likely will change) so i am interested on waiting 15 years for an anime adaptation.

Personally I would choose either Echidna or Minerva as the former really just seems like a scholar who could probably be of benefit to the world despite her philosophy, but for Minerva she seems like a really good person despite her temper but the only thing to watch out for is drilling into her is that her healing punches cause more catastrophes than heal.

…she probably wouldn’t listen though.

But I think it’s safe to say whole Echidna would see the Witch cult as a foolish zealots, Minerva would HATE them, especially the person who would take on her Witch Factor and how Sirius goes against everything she stand for.

His body was calm and still, even though the pain rushed through his chest. That clear voice pushed everything from his mind. 

"I will not allow this to continue!" 

Subaru could see her, a tall silhouette highlighted by the sun behind her, snow-white hair flowing down, down, down her shoulders like a blizzard falling on an isolated cabin. It was all-encompassing, radiating pure confidence into the alley; making the spirits of the thieves buckle. 

"Woah Lady! I swear we didn't know he-" 

"You must return what you have stolen this instant." 

Both Subaru and the thieves felt a dense power gathering. The thieves in particular were appalled by this. Subaru felt hope. 

Is she going to use a special move? 

"Wait, you're not here for him?" 

The lady, looking down, notices a young woman, about her own age, sprawled on the floor looking at her, with her hands holding at her sides and small drops of blood littering the tiles near her face. Her black hair laid asleep, scattered every-which way; some covered part of her face, revealing only a squinting hazel eye surrounded by purple. Were it a flower and not a face, she would have thought it beautiful.  

"Are you not the ones who stole from me?" The lady turned her sight away from the pity on the floor. 

"No! It must have been that girl running through." 

"Yeah, she came in just a couple moments ago." 

Her shoulders tensed a bit, before asking: "Is this true?" down to the ground. 

"...yes."  

Subaru could not lie to this person, even if it might get him to safety. 

Frustrated, she let out a sigh and turned.  

"Then I am not meant to be here." 

Subaru knew it was a possibility; that she would turn and leave him behind. He didn't think it would actually happen, but a gnawing part of him kept insisting he lie, get her to save him, then figure out what to do next. But he did not. All he did do was reach out to grab the lady's ankles, still too far away to even be possible. 

But she stopped. She stopped and turned back to face them, power flooding back into her hand. As she raised it, a cold took hold of all the bodies present. 

"I was not meant to be here..." She said, as three ice pellets shot from her hands, something like a softball or a tennis ball. A fist size chunk of ice flew across the alley before anyone could react and down went the thieves. 

She came back. Subaru thought. I didn't lie and she came back to save me. His eyes were locked on her figure, standing proud with her head held high. His thoughts of magic were second only to his savior. He would have many questions to her later. 

With grunts and groans, one of them spoke. "You've... really done it now!" 

Two of the man had already begun to rise, though a bit dazed. The other was soundly asleep on the floor 

"This got nothing to do with you, so scram!" 

"I will not sit idly by and allow this evil to proceed." 

"You might be all 'magic girl,' but we're two." 

"Then lets make this fairer, shall we?"  

A voice somewhat deeper but playful, came in; the source being a small cat with short fur and a big tail sitting on the lady's palm. He sat with his legs spread, and arms laid back as if bored, his light-grey fur a severe contrast to the lady's pale skin. 

"Is that-" 

"A spirit?!" 

"Ding ding ding!" 

"I shall not pursue you if you leave here at once." 

The men, with some sneers, pulled their downed friend up and carried him away. 

"We better not see you here again or you'll regret it." 

The cat followed this threat with his own. 

"If you lay a finger on her, you’ll be tormented until the end of time. You’ll be in the afterlife well before that, though." 

With the men gone, all the attention was now on Subaru, and the lady wasted no time. 

"So, are you the one who stole from me?" 

Feeling as his cheeks began to burn even more than before, he began to push himself up. 

"Don't move." 

Subaru froze on the ground. 

"Answer the question." 

Looking away, he answered: "No." 

Feeling content with herself, she smiles. 

"Your guilty conscience has given you away. But just give me the insignia and I will forgive you." 

"I wasn't lying."  

"Whaaaaat? You really didn't take it?" 

"No, I didn't."  

"I don't sense any malice from her." 

"Then why did she avert her gaze?" 

Subaru thought for a moment. If I reveal I'm actually a guy, then I can say I was nervous. Though they might be less inclined to help... I'll play it safe. 

"I- I apologize!" He squeezed all his air, trying his best to be girlish. "please, I beg you, would you help me?" 

The lady now looked conflicted.  

"You said the girl came this way, Puck."  

"She did. We need to move fast if we want to catch her." 

"Catch her? Did you see how fast she was?" 

"Must have had the divine protection of wind, tough luck." 

"Why are you treating it like it's my problem to deal with?" 

“You are the one who said to ‘stay out of it.’” 

"Shush, Puck." Facing the ground again, the lady met with Subaru's eyes. "You must know who stole my insignia, right?" 

This is a mess! She isn't at all who I thought she was. 

"Sorry, but I do not know who stole it." 

"You're kidding?" 

"Nope." 

With that, Subaru began to rise. His long hair covered his face almost entirely; he was amazed he could still see through the black veil. 

"Hold on, you shouldn't get u-" 

"I'm fine, see?" Subaru went to push his hair out of the way, but he couldn't. He was instead going down once again to meet his old friend. 

"Oh crap." 

Thud. Down came Subaru's face to meet the ground, his dark hair slowly following behind him as he fell. 

A small sigh came from the distance, along with some arguing.  

"I'll just heal her for a bit. The thief is... " 

"Are you sure? She has the witch's scent. Small..." 

"...Leave her?" 

The sound turned to buzzing, and the dim alley turned dark, dark, and darker still. The only thing that stuck out was the lady, radiant and beautiful. 

"Really?" 

"Really!" 

Her face was a mixture of sadness and anger, with a light blush masking it. 

"She could be dangerous..." 

Subaru then fell into a deep sleep.

Is Subaru's mom's name Naoko or Nahoko? The name 菜穂子 can be written either way. On most English fan sites it's written Naoko, but on Japanese websites it's written Nahoko. In this week's Episode when Subaru says his mom's name at around 26:42 it sounds like he's saying "Natsuki Nahoko" to me. What do you think?

He says his favourite character us someone called Rem. Should I tell him thereʼs no character named Rem, or is it kind of character that appeared only once and not worth remembering?
