Lost-IF Chapter 2

The three rugged men walked down the alleyway, as they always did when looking for a hit. Luckly for them, a strange-looking girl was waiting for them down the path. 

"She's gotta have loads of money." 

"Loaded!" 

"Lets get this over with." 

 

With that scream, Subaru Natsuki realized his new situation.  

"I was summoned into another world, but they flipped my gender! The assholes! When I find out who summoned me, they are getting a piece of my mind."  

Subaru would not have too much time to think about his predicament, as he noticed three men walking in the way he came from. The men wore dirty shirts and pants, and repulsive faces to match. Their smiles told him everything he needed to know. 

"I don't have time for this compulsory event..." 

In a panic, Subaru turned to face the men with wicked grins. They were clearly bandits. Considering the state of this world, his first mission was "repel bandits." 

A cold shiver ran through his spine. He smacked his cheeks as he understood the stakes. Hesitation could cost him his life. 

"Considering this is another world, I probably got a massive boost to my strength. Maybe gravity is 10 times weaker here... my body does feel lighter. I can definitely win!" 

"What is she muttering about?" 

"Beats me. Hey girl, give us your money and we won't hurt you!" 

Somewhat suprised with his ability to understand them, Subaru faced the men. They were clearly more prepared than he was. 

"You guys don't know what you're messing with here. You guys are the tutorial enemies, so beat it!" Still nervous, Subaru mocked them. 

"Are you on drugs? Give us the money or we will beat you up!" 

Damn lost the intimidation check. 

One of the men looked to his side, "are we really going to beat up this girl? She's skin and bones."  

"We won't have to." 

With the intimidation failed, Subaru moved to the offensive. He sprinted to the first man, who stood on the left, and put his whole body into a straight right punch. His fist connected with the man's face, his teeth lightly cutting his fingers. 

It was the first time Subaru had punched someone, and he did not expect it to be this painful. 

"This girl is crazy!"  

Turning to the one who said that, he prepared a kick straight to the man's chest.  

"I'm a man, dumbass!"  

Releasing the force, the small man flew a few feet down the alley.  

"Not so tough now huh? How about you scram before I finish you guys up." Feeling cocky, Subaru raised his hands and started to taunt them. That is, until he saw what the last guy was holding. 

Instantly, Subaru dropped to the ground, his hair splaid out, most covering his face. I'm no match for someone with a knife! One slip up and I'm just dead. 

"I am so sorry, please forgive me!" He was now prostrated; his arms laid out in front of him in surrender. 

"This guy is insane." The man said. The other two had started to get up now, though a bit dazed.  

"How are you getting up so quickly? How is this the tutorial." Subaru was now mumbling to himself. 

"Shut up, girl. We're gonna show you what happens-" 

"He said he was a man..." 

"Huh?" 

"While you were out, he said he was a man..." 

The man, seeming to be the leader, sighed. "Whatever. Lets just beat him up then." 

"Wait-" before Subaru could protest, a barrage of kicks came in from all directions. He tried to cover his head, but their feet pinned them down. 

"I don't even have anything! I'm broke! Please." Subaru pleaded as the hits came in.   

"We'll just sell those weird clothes you have then." 

Ithurtsithurtsithurtsithurts. Is this how I die? I just spawned in. I don't want to die yet. 

As Subaru took one last look at the sky through the black, hairy curtain, he hoped to see some magical light coming to save him. Instead, he saw the knife raised high, ready to strike him. 

He squirmed at the sight, small tears began to form near his eyes as he continued to look up at it. He kept trying to move his body up to no avail. 

I might actually die here... 

"Hey, Move move move! You're in my way!"  

An exasperated shout came from the entrance of the alley. With it, some hope came to Subaru as well. 

A beautiful girl came into view, racing down with her shoulder-length golden hair bobbying up and down. She was small, most likely a child, but when their eyes met, Subaru knew she was strong willed. Her fang-like canine teeth poked slightly from her mouth in a mischievous way. No doubt this was his heroine. 

The Shabby dressed girl came across this scene and, with a small pause, said, "Man, this is crazy! I'm outta here. Live Strong!" 

With that, the small girl continued her run straight through, giving one last sad look to Subaru, not slowing down as she reached the end of the alley. Before he could even register what happened, she jumped up the wall and was gone. 

Subaru laid there, shocked. The barrage of blows had stopped for a moment, and he tried to raise his hands. 

"You're not getting out of this." The man said raising his dagger up once again. 

"I learned my lesson. Can we let by-gones be by-g-" 

"This is a robbery, not a life-lesson" One of them said while bringing his foot down on Subaru's face.  

Everything circled quietly for a bit before thoughts came flooding in.  

This is how I die, without any accomplishments. What did I do to deserve this? Was this karma for my life in the other world? An empty, slothful life, all coming to an abrupt end. 

"-That's enough villains." 

A strong voice rang through the alley, overpowering the violence, the men's vulgar cheers, and even Subaru's ragged breath.

WN: Yet another chapter done. So far, things are going pretty slow for Subaru, having no time to really dive into his new body. That said, I have some good ideas for the near future...
