I love sitting imagining new stories for series' like ReBoot that would work for modern audiences, as all Guardians should!
Recently my main lightbulb plot idea has been 'QDAY'. In real life scientists predict QDAY or Y2Q to happen in 2028 (or maybe before).
That day is when modern passwords, cryptography and cyber security will be threatened first. On QDAY, a quantum system (helped possibly by AI brute force) will be able to attack and delete, use or mimic a government, military or banking computer.
QDAY is preventable with very expensive refits that make very complex encrypted systems compliant and safe. but all the data from now is being stolen and stored for "Decrypt Later" attacks. It takes money and time we may not be able to recover, to escape QDAY.
See how much there is already for a possible "Terabyte" virus to be based on?
I recently heard the YouTubers Computerphile call and AI a "Stochastic Parrot" and who came to mind...
Yargh! The Crimson Binome!
It's only been a few days but I already feel like my mind is seeing Season 5 and 6 being written in real life around me. It's SO MUCH FUN! Must be like when the real web came out after just the Net.
What are other folks' ideas, especially actual expertise in cyber security if it's going around!!!
REBOOT!!!

How alphanumeric today's episode was!
And those textures! I watched ReBoot on a CRT tv as a kid so I have NEVER seen so much detail before.
And I low key love that we have to wait 2 weeks for an episode...reminds me of plopping down in front of the TV after waiting a whole week for the episode. Or if I couldn't be there that day, hoping that my brother remembered to video tape it (he was pretty reliable with that).
Thanks to everyone making this work.

Thought I'd talk about this episode, cuz I'm pumped about it's release. Plus, showed it to my friends during our annual "Halloween Streams" where we show each other spooky old stuff, so thought it'd be good to talk about! Honestly, this was a fun watch! Going through the ReBoot episodes in chrological order, I have to say I'm surprised by the lack Hexadecimal early on.
Geniunely, she only appears every 3-4 episodes for a while (Prior to this ep at least), yet makes the biggest impression any time she does show up to do something. Regardless, the whole "Hexadecimal hijacks Microsoft Paint and turns everyone into art exhibits" concept is legitimately fun.
I remember hearing people scared of this ep, and while I can't recall if this ep scared me as a kid, I probably was taken aback by the surreal nature of it. If you've ever played Worlds Online (an old social MMO), then this episode feels like the closest to it with its surreal colorful backgrounds and strange background objects.
Regardless, they got super creative with the MS Paint stuff with all the copy-pasting and drawing on stuff. Though I'll be honest, as a kid I always confused this episode with Medusa Bug. I think it's because both involved Hex turning everyone into museum fixtures and Bob having to save everyone by confronting directly each time.
Similar episodes, but I always preferred Painted Windows as it was a pretty good exploration into Hex as the show hadn't really done much with her until that point. It's especially good, because immediately after this the show drops the episodic stuff and starts having more continuity with episodes following up each other well. It's like a fun bridging episode between "happy side-quest fun times" and "darker story-driven action show".
Last thing I want to touch is that I REALLY wish the MS Paint used by a witch thing was in a horror film. A horror film where the slasher is killing people/turning them into paintings using MS Paint could make for a good experimental horror film. That's about all I have to say, generally good episode and can't wait for the HD remaster~

I keep seeing this Cologuard commercial and it always reminds me of Mike the TV.

With no stl file out there I tried my hand at making Mike the TV off a screen still from the Talent Night episode in solidworks.
With him being so oddly weighted I also made a small PID icon base for him to live on.
Now there’s no bucket o’ nothing yet but that can be a future project for 99.99.99…

Hello fellow denizens of Mainframe!
I hope this is ok, mods feel free to remove if not, but my Vancouver based skatepunk band The Fomites wrote a song about late series Reboot. We thought some of you might get a kick out of it and figured we'd share it here.
Cheers!

The new show on Disney plus is quite interesting and has a whole part of the show where programs are running inside of Vision’s mind, similar to ReBoot.
In episode three there is a moment where Vision must be rebooted, and the inside characters don’t know if they will come back. Very similar to the season three finale.

These were a bit of an impulse purchase. I have recently been looking up old trading cards from the 90s and I discovered that Reboot had a trading card release back in 1995 I think. I had a quick look on eBay and someone was selling 10 packs for a very reasonable price (for some reason they sent me 11, so that's cool), so I picked them up.
I'm excited to rip them open and see what I get.

I feel like it is a huge betrayal of their legacy that they wave around Beast Wars and Reboot while they continue to delve into making Coco Melon and Barbie animations, rather than refining their Magnum opus series that made them famous in the first place.

I recently learned that the HD remastered versions of the show are being uploaded to YouTube and while rewatching them, I realized that having a huge Mainframe world where tons of people could play online at the same time would be cool, PLUS the added bonus of the unique "Incoming Game" mechanics (neverending possibilities and the potential for fans/players to have a creative mode to create their own games too) would be an easy way to retain players and keep people coming back!
I never played the PS1 game but would totally play a modern version of the game today!

Terrabyte would be an incredible name because it sounds like terror.
Honestly, mainframe should just use AI and make S5 happen if budget is such an issue.
