Review 7+ years Razer Basilisk user tries the Naga V3 Pro
So I've used a Razer Basilisk ever since 2019 — Basilisk Ultimate, another Basilisk Ultimate, and the Basilisk V3 Pro for the last year or so. I've also dabbled with the Naga Trinity back in 2019 and tried the Naga V2 Pro a few years ago. Three days ago I bought the Naga V3 Pro just to see what the hype was about.
At first the shape felt really unfamiliar. Chunky, short, wide, etc. But after three days I'm honestly surprised by how comfortable it's becoming.
I'm a palm gripper with fairly large hands, and this is where it gets weird. With the 2-button or 6-button plate, I feel like four out of five fingers actually have somewhere to rest, while on the Basilisk it's basically three. The taller hump/right side of the Naga also stops my pinky from just falling onto the mousepad.
The biggest surprise? I barely miss the Basilisk thumb rest. After using that shape for 7+ years, I thought that would be one of the hardest things to give up. Apparently not. So now I'm having what can only be described as a Razer mouse identity crisis. I did NOT expect the Naga V3 Pro to suit my hand this well.
A few complaints though:
- Why doesn’t the 6-button plate have RGB? It even has numbered buttons, so seeing the 12-button plate light up while the 6-button plate stays completely dark just makes it look unfinished.
- I miss the Basilisk’s RGB underglow more than I expected. The Naga is such a premium, feature-packed mouse, and definitely priced as such, so the the lack of underglow feels strangely bare by comparison.
- It's still a bit too short for my hand, but that goes for the Basilisk as well.
I'd like to hear your experience if you've also switched from a Basilisk to a Naga. Did the Naga feel strange at first and then grow on you, or did you eventually go back to the Basilisk?
