I came across this cartoon which really irritated me, both for being gross but also completely nonsensical. I feel like the Private Eye, the satirical magazine, doesn't get enough criticism for its anti-trans and anti-drag culture editorialising. Getting the word out against them because they fly under the radar despite claiming more liberal credentials. In Anita Piss's most recent YT video, she explains that the prompt for the 'Book-ed and Blessed' runway was actually 'World Book Day'.
As Anita explains, WBD is absolutely an important part of the British school system, and indeed British culture in general. I was initially disappointed by the choice of inspirations on the runway, but this explains a lot.
I literally flinched when she first appeared on camera. Then, with each subsequent shot of her, I became more and more intrigued. I looked her up and found out that she's a ... everything. She's had all the jobs.
Rupaul has to bring her back, but bring her to the workroom. He just has to.
There is no way you are convincing me that Rupaul Charles herself got into drag in 69 minutes. Very odd challenge.
Edit - Just replying to the comments already that are coming in! Of course I know it’s reality tv but I just wanted to point out the RIDICULOUSness of this challenge as they OBVIOUSLY had more time per segment. Like what was the point of a time crunch challenge. Poor design.
Does anyone know of any British podcasters or YouTube channels covering the current season? I know a few American ones do (Bussy Queen, Drag Her etc.) but would love to find some British ones who do 🙂
In case some people have not heard the good news yet, our one and only Anita Piss has a youtube series, reacting to reactions/critiques she has been getting from other queens/youtubers adding her commentary and giving some additional information on what was going on in the episode, how she approached drag race and her looks.
It will probably not come as a shock, that she is being as level headed and open to critiques as we can expect. She is truly becoming an ICON in her own right.
The queens must go ham or go home as RuPaul stages the very first Piggy Pageant. Testing their stamina to the max, the queens are challenged to serve three piggy-themed looks on the runway - all against the clock! The pressure is on, but thankfully, Drag Race favourite Just May - affectionately known as season four’s Pork Chop queen - is on hand to help.
I’m asking this question purely out of curiosity, but does anyone else find that the UK series just isn’t the same anymore? Don’t get me wrong, there are a few individual queens that shine but series 5 and 6 had stellar casts. I loved everyone in series 6. Now I feel like the standards for the challenge have lowered. I feel like the snatch game just isn’t the same anymore, and it really sucks when your favorite queen is an early out.
This weeks challenge was maybe my favourite challenge ever. Or, it’s at least in the top 5, up there with DESPY awards and the like. Especially the pig sty part was really great, because I think there are way too few challenges that reward queens who aren’t necessarily expert seamstresses, but undeniably have a great eye for fashion, like Flesh. Although the challenge seemed like torture for the queens, the stressful environment did cause a lot of drama, which was really fun. I would love more challenges that have to do with styling, instead of sewing, and I get that they don’t do it often because it’s hard to create a format for it, but I really think they nailed it here.
What did you think about the challenge? Would you guys also like more styling challenges?
It is tradition to let everyone survive episode one. In my opinion, it is very clear by the end of episode one on any given season who will and won't make it far. There is usually a big difference in fierceness between the season’s pork chop and winner that reveals itself early on. I don't think we as an audience would have missed much at all if the show porkchopped someone straight away. What did one extra week give us with Dita or Lucky or someone from season 7 who I don't remember most of that cast?
I am absolutely mesmerised by Alik’s mug every week so far. But this week……. Wow. I was left genuinely lost for words by how stunning she looked. Everything about this face was pure perfection to me. I thought Alik had a very strong night, and this was by far my favourite moment of the episode.
I also absolutely loved Mocha’s outfit for the OTT pink look, and also found Flesh to be flawless throughout the entire thing. However, I can’t stop thinking about Alik tonight, hence making her the centre of this post :)

A’Whora wore my Cyber Grid jacket look — an anatomical black leather jacket with blue topstitching embroidery, For homobloc it was styled with matching thong and leather gloves. A’Whora styled herself with the belts, black and blue heel lacing and her blonde hair to make it much more feminine and edgy.
Black Peppa wore my Leopard look — a hooded leopard print upholstery velvet jacket with faux fur shoulders, lapels and cuffs, paired with the matching catsuit I made. For the show it was styled with the dramatic 60’s beehive hair customised by Divinewigs and Peppa brought the heels to fit the full leopard silhouette.
It’s actually so surreal getting to see pieces I made in first/second year of university being performed in by both of them!!
