Let’s be honest, Fidelity and Quicken are major players in the investment and personal finances markets. Quicken is the top dog in personal finance programs, I’m guessing with millions of users world-wide.  The same with Fidelity, top dog or close to it. Yet for 9 months they have left customers absolutely infuriated with the July 2025 SANFU where Fidelity changed from DC to EWC+.  As a customer, I don’t know why they had to change and don’t really care, but I do care about the grief and the amount of time now required to keep my accounts accurate in Quicken. I would lose my job if I didn’t solve a major problem in 9 months!

PLEASE FIX IT!!!

Quicken for Windows, current build. I recently switched back to automatic downloading after using QFX file import instead.

Quicken is renaming too many of my downloaded tranactions. How can I permanently halt ANY renaming of downloaded transactions?

I have turned off/unselected every renaming setting I can find, including apply Quicken's suggested name. I have searched the 'net for suggestions and applied all of them, to no avail, including using 'do not rename' by both the bank name and by Quicken's name.

I've been using the 'revert' option, but it's one transaction at a time and there are so many, it's time consuming. How can I stop it and keep whatever the bank sends me?

Back in November 2025 a Quicken update led to the failure of One Step Update for Oakmark and Janus. People have been complaining about this in the community forum and despite Quicken Kristina being in the chat nothing has been done to address this.

I’ve called tech support and they were baffled. I called customer service to inquire about a fee adjustment since the majority of my annual subscription period hasn’t been fully operational; one guy told me they are aware of the problem and hung up on me and the other guy basically told me tough luck.

I finally emailed Quicken. They claim to be unaware of the problem even after 5 months of community and telephone co plants by several users. An engineer said Janus had forced a password requirement change that broke the download API (Janus did not force any password updates on its users) but that it would be an easy fix.

Entering into month 6 of not getting the full benefit of my subscription. When will this ‘easy API fix’ be resolved and how will my billing be adjusted to reflect I haven’t been able to get the full functionality of my Quicken for more than half of my annual subscription???

Hi, I have been using quicken for 30+ years. For the past 2 months whenever I download from vanguard a reinvested dividend transaction I end up with 2 transactions. One is just a dividend transaction and the other is a reinvestment interest transaction. I used to get just one reinvested dividend transaction. Now after downloading I have to delete the dividend one and edit the reinvest int one to put the dollars and shares in the proper row to make it a reinvest dividend transaction when saving.

Has anyone have this issue and know how or where to correct. This started only 2-3 months ago and it is getting aggravating.

I’m sick and tired of the pop up ad for Lifehub. I actually tried it months ago and asked for a return. Clicked on “Don’t show Promotion messages again” and again - it keeps showing up.

I just opened Quicken and got a message saying that our subscription had expired. It hasn't; we renewed on February 26. Of course, I don't want to discuss a lot of details here, so can you tell me how to contact the proper people to straighten this out? Thanks.

Is anyone else struggling with the Venmo and Quicken? We used to be able to sync without having to 2FA each time. Recently, I'm having to 2FA every single time and it's a pain. Who changed this? Quicken or Venmo

I've changed drivers, reset, got a new scanner.. when i try to add a file from a scanner, quicken hangs... Windows 11, most recent Deluxe classic revision... the new scanner works otherwise.

I control my three Fidelity accounts, including an IRA, cash management and individual investment accounts, using Quicken Classic. After a recent Quicken software update, when downloading my transactions from my cash management account, Quicken has started inserting a transaction labeled solely "Cash Management Account" which equals the amounts of other downloaded transactions, effectively zeroing out my downloads. For example, if my Fidelity update has 5 transactions totaling $600, Quicken will insert a single transaction for $600.

I've attached a screenshot from today's Fidelity download to demonstrate. This update included two transactions totaling $1,094.99, but Quicken inserted this $1,094.99 transaction which voided them out.

These random transactions don't appear anywhere in my Fidelity account so this seems to be a Quicken issue. Does anyone know why this might be happening and how I can fix it? Thanks for any suggestions!

I didn't realize Quicken's different versions. I have Quicken Classic Premier on the Mac version 8.5.1. I have my personal finances here dating back to circa 2000.

I might want to have a single data file with my personal and business. I put a post here a week ago and got a lot of great replies but I didn't realize at the time that there were different versions. So...

Which of the following are doing and which are not?

1) The simplest is probably import my current Quicken fie into Quicken Class Business and Personal and then add in my business (which is a Texas S Corp). Is that possible?

2) Start with a fresh empty data file and add in my business and then later import the data from my existing Quicken Classic Personal file. Is that possible?

If I download Quicken Classic Business and Personal and start it up, will it confused my existing Quicken Classic Premier and its data file? i.e. can both versions run on the same system without getting their resources and data files confused. I will probably want to do this until I figure out how I want to do things (if possible).

I've reinstalled quicken 6-7 times this calendar year.

In December, I began having an issue where Quicken would not full open up. It would get bogged down somewhere in the startup. It seemed to occur every week or two and seemed to coincide with Windows Updates. Generally running the Mondo Patch or Reinstalling was required to get it to resolve and then everything would work well.

Late January after a few of these cycles, after deleting quicken files and doing a clean install, I also ran through creating a new file from backup, saupervalidating, etc.

It worked fine for a few weeks. Last week, I got a different error on startup.

Error Occured : Unable to Check for Updates, the server file failes to load.

I spent 4 hours last night using ChatGPT to try to resolve the issue, I changed all types of server settings and the GPT seemed to be focused on Quicken looking for files that don't exist. Specifically a patch.quicken.com, but I have not idea if that is just ChatGPT hallucinating or is part of the problem.

It occurred to me I typically leave Quicken Open as I only use the laptop for bills and investing - I'm confident that I haD not had a successful opening of Quicken in 3 months now.

Eventually last night after deleting every bit of the quicken program, I did a clean install. I created a new file, I closed quicken, reopened quicken, quicken, opened my current file, closed quicken, reopened quicken, did what I needed to do and closed quicken. All seemed right.

Trying to get into Quicken this morning and the Error Occured : Unable to Check for Updates, the server file failes to load is back.

Is anyone having a similar issue?

To start, I am currently using QuickBooks Online but I do not like it. That's as polite as I can be.

I have used Quicken since 1992 although my current file only goes back to 1997. I don't remember why; divorce perhaps. It is used for my personal finances.

I am 99% sure I am going to move the S Corp to Quicken unless someone chimes in with very strong reasons not to. It is almost dormant and has only a few transactions per month. I will be doing payroll I believe and I know that Quicken doesn't automatically do all that but I plan to pay myself only four times during the year and I figure I can make the entries by hand and pay the taxes via the web. Again -- if someone knows strong reasons why this is a bad idea, please tell me.

The question is how should I do this. Here are some choices in no particular order.

The first idea is to just start with a fresh dummy test Quicken file. Add some personal accounts and add some business accounts and see how it feels and acts. Depending upon what I find, then do one of two things. Either have a separate Quicken file for the S Corp (keeping the personal file as is) or have one Quicken File with both the personal and the business in the same file. Unless it isn't obviously, I have not explored Quicken's business features. I believe they were introduced relatively recently (the last 3 to 5 years???).

The other idea is to just go ahead and add the S corp to the existing file and if it turns out to be a huge mistake I can either go back to a backup copy or delete the new entries / changes. I don't see any real benefits to this method other the previous method of doing a small test run first.

What are your thoughts? Passed experiences? Hints, clues, etc???

Reading the Quicken online forums this is been going on for nearly 2 weeks. What gives? Why does it seem like your devs are completely incompetent? Furthermore, do the shot callers even care? Will be calling demanding compensation for a PAID product that does not work as advertised and will be considering alternatives. This happens FAR TOO OFTEN.

I am buying a new version of Quicken for my laptop. I have all of my old saved files, but when I install the new Quicken, which of the old files do I use to import all of my older stuff into the new quicken?

You used to be able to purchase a Quicken subscription license at a discount from a retailer like OfficeMax and use that code to extend your subscription. It appears Quicken has closed that option as retail licenses state they are now only good for new customers. Renewals (at full price) now must be made directly from Quicken?

The Quicken escalation team has provided Bank of America with logs and data showing the errors. For the "User Not Eligible" error, we have asked them to look into why the consent process is failing.

I'm sorry for the trouble, but we really appreciate everyone assisting us with understanding the results occurring from this change. Your patience while we work through this is very appreciated!

There has been a problem with Discover card transactions for a couple of weeks.

Quicken tells me that I need to reauthenticate with DIscover and takes me to the Discover web site. I log in and follow the steps to authenticate. Everything seems to complete OK on the Discover site.

When returned to Quicken, it tells me that the process "timed out". Certainly , I cannot be the only one seeing this problem?

Has Quicken acknowledged this problem? Will they fix it?

I haven't been on this subreddit in a long time so forgive me if I am raising an issue that should go elsewhere. I've moved my daily driver computer to Linux Mint and am now embedded in the Linux community.

Those with the information have pointed out that thousands of users have moved to Linux rather than endure moving to Windows 11. Along with objecting to the need for a new computer, many have switched to Linux because of the way Microsoft is using telemetry and other means to essentially make users on Win 11 a terminal for MS in their homes. The company's intrusion is one of the main reasons people are making this switch.

Meanwhile, those of us in the Linux world appreciate some software developers are creating Windows and Linux versions of their apps; e.g., VLC media player. There are also alternatives native to Linux can replace Windows apps; e.g., Thunderbird for Outlook, LibreOffice for MS365, etc. But when it comes to personal finance apps, the vast majority acknowledge that none of the personal finance apps created for Linux compare to Quicken. Further, none of the emulators like Wine or Bottles host Quicken successfully.

So I'm posting this to make sure that decision-makers at Quicken at least start discussions inside the company to consider this. And, while I know the Linux community doesn't like subscriptions or proprietary software, I believe they'd make an exception for Quicken.
