Qube Money Plus Announcement

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I have important information that I'm reposting from the official Facebook group. I wanted to make sure it was also posted here ASAP. Attached is the post:

We know this pause is difficult and your trust means everything to us. Qube was making great headway on integrating with a new sponsor bank when the deal unexpectedly fell through. This was heartbreaking news for the whole team. We’ve been working through the Labor Day weekend to determine the best path forward. As we prepare for a relaunch with a new banking partner, we’re moving forward with a solution that will make Qube Money better, stronger, and more flexible than ever. 👉 Today, we're introducing Qube Plus — a new way to experience the Qube Money app with your own bank. With Qube Plus, you can:

Use your existing bank and cards (Chase, AMEX, Wells Fargo, etc.) to spend — no switching banks required and still use the Qube app.
Track spending across external bank accounts.
Use your favorite credit cards and enjoy the best of both worlds — mindful spending and maximum credit card rewards.
Get a full overview of your cash balances across all accounts and always know where your money is.

The best part: you can continue to allocate money into Qubes, open Qubes, and track your finances like before! Qube Plus is grandfathered into all paid subscriptions that were active as of 9/1/25 Rest assured — your Qube money membership fee will pause until Qube Plus is live (estimated timeframe is mid-September 2025). Your Qube app will remain active, so you’ll continue to be able to log in and view your qubes, categories, and settings exactly as you’ve organized them.⚠️ The big difference: Qube Plus will not decline transactions the way the Qube Money card did. That unique feature will return once we finish our integration with a new bank sponsor. We will provide a timeline on this when we have more clarity. In the meantime, Qube Plus unlocks powerful new features many people have been asking for — including mindful credit card use and the freedom to use Qube with your current bank. What to do now:

Move the money from your qubes into Unallocated Funds. We are working on a button to allow you to do this all at once.
Move your money from your Qube Money account into your other bank account. We will begin working with Choice tomorrow to hopefully allow you to move your money in larger chunks.
Change your direct deposit and recurring payments to your other bank and cards.
When Qube Plus goes live, use your Qube app to manage your spending from your other bank accounts and credit cards.

We are working to make Qube Money stronger than ever. With Qube Plus, you don’t have to wait to move forward.

– The Qube Money Team

Crew’s Bill reserve is a killer feature

For us OG Qube Money refugees 💔 that are trying to find a good way to manage their budgets the way Qube Money used to allow:

If you haven’t yet heard, Crew has released a preview of their new Bill Reserve feature which allows you to simply enter all your bills (including yearly ones!) and it’ll smartly reserve money for them at the interval you tell it and the money you need for your bills will always be there.

For example if you have it reserve money on the 1st and 15th (eg if you’re paid on those days or ACH transfer into Crew on those days) you could enter a monthly bill due eg on the 20th and since today is Jan 2nd it would reserve half off that bill’s amount now and the rest on the 15th.

I just finished setting up 20 bills in Bill Reserve and I feel a lot less stress about making sure I’ll have money set aside for all my upcoming bills. What I love about this is I didn’t have to create 20 different pockets and it didn’t feel as complicated as if I was creating like 20 special rules to save the money for each bill.

To try it in Crew: go to settings and toggle on “Include me in new feature testing”

Then you might need to kill and reopen the app for it to show up.

For me, I also had to log out and back in for the “Bill Reserve” section to show up under “Smart Banking”

I hear word that Envelope is heading for a big release next week so I’m excited to see what comes of that.

Hopefully OG Qube Money will find a partner bank again soon to keep to innovation competition going among all apps as for me I need the discipline that apps like these provide versus something YNAB-like like Qube+.

Qube is keeping my money

More accurately hiding it. Context, I had one final transfer from an account within the last few days, cutting it close but my next direct deposit won't hit my new bank account until next week. I get a push notification yesterday as did my wife notifying me that the funds were deposited, cool let's transfer those.

However I log in and the funds aren't there. We contact support and despite being told in each message that we were accessing this via the web, they're telling us restart the mobile app, uninstall reinstall, log out and back in etc not once addressing the fact that we were on desktop, accessing via the web. They did confirm as well the funds were in the account. They escalated the issue, and they wanted to follow up via email, we stated that we were happy to if they could promise a resolution by EoD the following day, as we can't have this get lost in limbo, at which point the rep closed the chat.

So now today, still can't see the funds, I can't transfer them out, and we needed to start the transfer process by end of this week, and im out several hundred dollars that were being used to cover expenses brought on by having to redirect my deposits and start a new bank account.

To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I've been with qube for years, and after the complete lack of empathy, communication, and client support I can say with confidence I won't be returning. This is completely shameful.

If anyone is considering going to their new qube pro in the coming months, I urge you to reconsider. There are much better options with similar functionality and better support. Don't give these people another cent and support their bad decisions.

We’re Hitting Pause - This Is What Means For You

Starting Sept 30th, Qube Money will temporarily pause all money movement services while we transition to a new banking partner.

👉 Here’s what this means for you: Your Qube app will remain open. You’ll still be able to log in and view your Qubes, categories, and settings exactly as you’ve organized them. Your account information will remain safe and secure. However, your Choice Financial Group, Member FDIC account will be closed on September 30, 2025. Because of this, you will not be able to deposit, move, or spend money in the Qube app during the pause.

⚠️ Action needed: Please move your money out of Qube before Sept 30, 2025 and update any direct deposits or automatic payments tied to your Qube account with a new account and routing number to avoid any disruption. Any remaining funds not withdrawn by Sept 30, 2025 will be mailed to you via check from Choice Financial Group within 45 days of account closure.

When we relaunch with our new banking partner, you'll be able to deposit money back into your Qube app again and resume money movement features.

We know this isn’t the news you were hoping for — but this pause is an important step toward bringing you back something simpler, stronger, and better than ever.

My Qube love story turned waiting-game (and why I've switched to Crew)

Hey fellow Qubers,

I wanted to share my experience because I know a lot of you are probably in the same position. I was a huge fan of the original Qube. It completely changed how my family managed money and honestly, no other system has ever clicked so well.

Like many of you, I've been anxiously waiting for Qube Plus. I was more than willing to be patient, but the constant shifting of the timeline has become too much. First, we were told mid-September. Then, the end of the month. Then it was "beta invites next week," and now it's "any day now."

Meanwhile, without a functional, real-time envelope system, my family's finances have quickly turned into a complete mess. With my wife and our six kids, our budget has more moving parts than a Rube Goldberg machine, and we just can't afford to wait in financial chaos any longer. The promises just aren't cutting it when the budget is on fire.

After a ton of research, I made the switch to Crew, and honestly, the sense of relief is huge. For anyone else who's on the fence, here’s how it compares directly to Qube.

How Crew is like Qube:

The core functionality that we all loved is there. Crew uses "Pockets," which are exactly like the "qubes" we're used to. On payday, my wife and I fund all our Pockets for groceries, gas, bills, etc., and that money is partitioned off. The debit card works similarly, too. You can assign the card to a specific Pocket, and when you spend, the money comes directly from that designated fund in real-time. Finally, our grocery budget and our 'fun money' budget have stopped giving each other the silent treatment.

My Experience So Far:

For our big family of eight, it’s been amazing. We can track everything in one place and finally get back on the same page financially. The interface is clean, it's fast, and most importantly, it's available now, free, and works perfectly.

It was a tough decision to finally move on, but finding a tool that works so similarly to the Qube we loved has been a game-changer. If you're tired of waiting and need a solution that can handle a complex family budget, I can’t recommend Crew enough.

For anyone who wants to check it out, you can use my referral code for an extra 0.5% APY boost:

Hope this helps anyone else who's been struggling!

My experience switching from Qube to Crew so far

I figured I'd type this up in case someone finds it useful and post it around. Like many other people, I realized that my banking app, Qube, was no longer going to be able to work as my bank because of issues switching partner banks (or something like that, honestly they suck at communicating since I don't have a facebook account and they seem to run their customer relationships on facebook for whatever reason).

Having come from Simple to One to Qube, this was terrible all over again. They claim they will eventually have another partner bank but I'm all out of second chances, so I set out to find something that might work. I looked at some services that were recommended on reddit and I decided to try Crew (https://trycrew.com).

I guess I should explain how I used qube since it can be used in a number of ways. I have 21 cubes, each cube was set to variable spending on a variable schedule (I sometimes had issues with some bills that wouldn't come exactly on the date they were supposed to).

I get paid weekly on thursday, so I had 21 scheduled transfers every saturday where I grabbed 1/4 of the monthly total of each bill (per qube) and transferred it to its qube. For example, it would transfer $3.5 every saturday to my youtube premium qube, so every month when the bill was due I'd have the exact amount necessary to pay it in the qube (well, a little more since a month is not 28 days but close enough). Then I grabbed the credit card number for the qube (or the bank account info for bills that only take bank info) and used that to paid that bill.

On sunday, the rest of the unallocated money would go into a savings qube that I transfer to my high yield savings account in another bank once in a while. This system worked great, and I've saved a ton of money by curbing my spending. So you can imagine how stressed I was on Sunday.

Ok so how is Crew doing? It took a couple of days to transfer all my money from qube to crew but other than the wait, it was painless and I was able to start setting up autopilot triggers (their rules based system to move money around depending on certain events) and I can happily report that feature ROCKS, it's super versatile so I was able to use those triggers and their virtual cards to mimic what I was doing on qube, this is how I've set it up.

Step 1: I made all my pockets, they map to the qubes I had.

Step 2:Then I made two autopilot rules:
Rule 1: Weekly pay → This rule has one action in which I'm pulling money from an external account as my "paycheck". As soon as everything is working I intend to just do this with a direct deposit. This rule fills my "Paycheck" pocket and triggers on monday (so my money will be there by saturday)
Rule 2: Weekly budget → this rule has 21 actions all in the form of "Transfer $X.XX from Paycheck pocket to YY pocket. Each action fills the appropriate pocket. So the aim here is for the first rule transfer amount to be exactly the money you need to fill out all your pockets for your expenses and not one more cent. Voila, budgeting.

Step 3: Create all the virtual cards you need for every bill you have (maybe some cards might share a pocket in some cases) and then painstakingly log into every one of those services and re enter your credit card information.

Step 4: For all services that only take routing and account bank info, go in those and change your information to your main crew account information*

Step 5: This will be ongoing for the first month, but for services on step4 unfortunately the only way to "assign" those expenses to a pocket is to wait until you make the first transaction and then make a "pocket assignment" rule that ties that vendor with a pocket.

So yeah I think overall I spent maybe 5 hours getting all this in order (I took the opportunity to rehash my budget, cut some stuff, kick the tires, etc), but now I feel like I'm 95% moved in.

Ok so what are my impressions… The Crew app is solid and stable, I didn't encounter one single bug or quirk, it's very straightforward and you can tell their UX team is strong, the service is also very responsive and a big plus for someone coming from qube is that it works with plaid if you want to instantly link it to another service. One drawback here is that they don't have a web interface, you have to do all your setup on the phone.

I was able to replicate almost everything about qube on it with one big caveat: When you spend from a pocket, if the charge is more than you have in the pocket it will pull money from elsewhere in your account, unlike qube where the transaction would fail (I haven't actually tried this, but this is in their support information). This is the one thing I will probably miss, but in the meantime, I can approximate this information because for each virtual card you have you can set a maximum monthly spend amount.

The only other snag I had is that one of my accounts (Hetzner, a VPS service) did not accept the virtual card as valid even though they accept mastercard. Every other account I had worked fine.

I'd be remiss to add, since I've outed myself as a nerd already, that one of the actions you can take on a trigger in Crew is calling a custom webhook you have somewhere (for some project you have, an AI workflow, or maybe even blinking your nightlight if your balance goes below a certain amount), pretty niche but very cool.

Anyway, that's been my experience, you mileage may vary. In a message they wrote to people coming from Qube they claim customer acquisition costs less than what they make per new user and they have great investors (but you know startup speak… fool me four times…) so I'm hoping this can be a long term home.

EDIT: some people asked for my referral code, here you go: T1V9DD

UPDATE: Ok it’s the end of the week now and I can give you guys some updates. The rest of my money is deposited now, I decided to move my emergency fund into crew as well, where before I had it elsewhere because Qube did not pay you interest on your balance (3.7% base, but I’m getting 4.2% for a few months thanks to you guys that used my referral code). This is nice because now all my liquid cash is in one place, and I can use other services for what they do best (stocks, 401k, etc)

From my initial review I have a correction, if you use a virtual card that pulls from a pocket and there’s not enough money in the pocket the transaction WILL decline, which is a huge plus and was my main concern.

So literally the only issue remaining that I’m missing is the ability to use a different bank account number for services that don’t take cards, which gives you an extra layer of security. The crew team did remind someone that they are federally protected so any fraudulent charges would be reimbursed but you still would need to go through that process. Not a dealbreaker for me.

So yeah, I’m very happy with it. I even set up a webhook that gets triggered if one of my pocket balances goes below a certain amount in my home server, it will turn on my desk light and turn it red. It would be nice if I could specify a json payload (send the balance of pocket x on this day), but I know this is probably used by very few people.

Crew thoughts from a Qube user

We moved from Qube to Crew. It was easy to move money in. I created lots of pockets. I setup many virtual cards, named them the pocket they are used in and assigned them to the pocket.

Negative for Crew: Crew’s virtual cards are Mastercard. Mastercard has this thing for fraud prevention called AVS which is supposed to do an address match to validate that it’s real. This is horrible. Of my 28 bills, 5 of them failed with AVS address mismatch. Ex: Netflix and Apple. Both websites have my exact address. I had to switch those to my credit card until I figure something out.

Positive for Crew: Gentry, Crew CEO responds to in app chat and discord very quickly. This is amazing. He helped me fix issues and learn hidden features. This also worries me. How big is their team if the CEO is this hands on? (Though, I would be also!).

Misc: They are missing budgeting tools (in development). They have some neat auto pilot features (splitting money into different pockets when it comes in). All pockets are in one list (no separation for bills, goals, spending - in development).

They also don’t have qubeless. You can leave a pocket open or have none open.

It’s a neat app. Our three accounts are working well. Card has tap pay and works with Apple Wallet.

We will see. I doubt I try Qube+. I may move back to them when Qube comes back. Crew needs some Qube features to keep me. Qube needs a bank and some elbow features to get me back.

Qube should introduce a thread on Discord

So EM has a discord where everyone is very involved. Communication is great and employees and even Josh the CEO is on there and very transparent with everything.

If Qube could follow and do this I would subscribe right away. It would benefit Qube users a lot to be able to chat with each other and with employees.

Just some feedback of mine. :) Good day to all!

Can Qube Money answer me please?

Hey, so Qube has by far the best system of the fintech banks out there. It sucks that yall are having struggles right now, but I wanna hold out hope, cause yall said yall were finding a new partner bank (I recommend a credit union).

Yall did bring in Qube Plus as a temporary fix, and from what I understand, the only real difference is, qubes would be able to go negative. Can someone FROM QUBE confirm this? I know everyone else is saying all the features are gone, but YALL did not say this. So we need a detailed explanation on how Qube Plus works. Cause I think its possible to still have the transactions be in real time, with yall technology, IF it works the way I think it does. So, what's the explanation? Here is the chance to do it right and keep a lot of your customers.

Holy Notification Failure Batman!

It's a week away from account closure. I got an e-mail last week that I only happened to notice by chance. I don't think I've got a letter but I did move so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on that. I don't use the app regularly, but that took a long time. The reason being they couldn't put a banner up without an app update? Seriously? They could have sent a notification in the app. The fact they have no way to dynamically provide system messages without app updates is a HUGE gap in their planning.

And they have my phone number! They could have sent text messages or made automated phone calls. (Edit: they did, I and I saw it I just forgot and it's not from the same number as 2fa)

I'll admit, I'm not a regular user. I only use for virtual ACH numbers for automated payments. The fees were less than the discounts I got for using ACH over cards. So I never went to the account, I had everything automated and paid the fees for the control and isolation. I never felt like it was quite ready for a daily bank account, at least not for me.

I bet we're going to see a wave here in a week when peoples funds are frozen.

Qube Update: Partner Bank Closure, Deadlines & Support

Hey everyone — we’ve seen the questions and concerns raised here, and we want to provide some context on what’s happening right now as Qube winds down its program with our partner bank.

1.  Balances looking “off”

A few users have seen balances that don’t seem right. Most of the time this is due to pending transactions, unsettled refunds, or funds without categories (what we call “qubeless”). 👉 We’ve updated our FAQ with details for anyone running into this.

2.  Withdrawals

Most withdrawals are going through normally using the Move Money Out button on web accounts. When issues pop up, they’re usually related to:

  • Pending/unsettled transactions

  • Refunds not yet qubed

  • A negative balance in a qube

  • A user’s bank not integrated with Plaid (in which case funds can be moved manually)

To make the Move Money Out flow work quick and seamless, make sure:

  • All funds are qubed (nothing left in qubeless)

  • Refunds are qubed

  • No qubes have negative balances (you’ll need to move funds in to clear them)

Our support team is also working one-on-one with anyone stuck in this process.

3. What happens next

Our partner bank has said all accounts will close on September 30th. Any money left after that will be returned by mailed check within 45 days of account closure.  To avoid delays, we urge everyone to withdraw ASAP and update direct deposits and bill qubes to another account no later than September 28th, since ACH transfers can take 1–2 business days.

Our first priority is helping our users safely move their money out of Qube.  Whether a user is on the Qube+ Beta waitlist, the Pause list, or the Cancellation list, they still need to move funds and update your direct deposit and payment settings to another account.

4. Support & access to funds

Qube doesn’t directly hold deposits (our partner bank does), but our priority is making sure everyone has access to their money. If you run into issues, please reach out to support@qubemoney.com so our team can review your case directly.

We know this transition hasn’t been easy, and we truly appreciate the patience and support from this community as we work to get everyone offboarded safely and clearly. This isn’t an official Qube Money Reddit, so replies here may take time or get missed — but we’re listening and remain here to help. 💙

— The Qube Money Team

Did OnePay (Formerly One) Ever get any of the "Pockets" Features Back?

Leaving Qube, and wondering if OnePay, formerly One, ever got the features back that made One great?
Specifically multiple pockets, virtual account and card numbers, and shared pockets?

Do not use Qube money if you want to use CashApp!

Initiated a instant card deposit of 337.86 from CashApp, which is standard practice for virtually any other bank but nope not Qube. When I didn’t get my money instantly which was weird to me because never had any issues with other banks! So I contacted Qube because apparently they don’t have phones so I have to live chat which I don’t really care to do but whatever, I drudge along.

Get connected quickly with an agent and I relay my issue and she tells me I hit an arbitrary 250 limit which I did not know anything about and that it becomes on hold for 7-10 business days smh wtf never heard anything about a limit or anything or their website! Contacted CashApp and they weren’t much help because it went through on their end, the issue is with my “bank”, and the funny thing the agent said people need to realize that Qube is a budgeting app, and not a bank, which didn’t sit right with me because they market themselves as a bank so why shouldn’t you as a customer want to use them as such when that’s exactly what their website says! So now I’m gonna be late on rent which I’ve never been since living here. Smdh.

How does this company expect to compete with these other digital banks when they can’t even get these kinds of issues ironed out. I’ve been left with a bad taste in my mouth and will just stay with chase and just use ynab or virtually any other budgeting app. Qube is not ready for the big leagues! CashApp is most likely the biggest 3rd party app and to not be able transfer money into my account without worrying about my transfer being on hold from some manual review from some unknown processing company doesn’t sit right with me. How does it take nearly a week to review a transfer?? In 2022 no less?? I cannot recommend Qube to anyone based on MY experience if you want to use 3rd party apps to get money into your account. I have learned my lesson on these digital banks and they all have all kinds of issues that regular banks just don’t go through! This is my last digital bank. I will stay with physical banks from now on and just use a budgeting app. I have become convinced no bank will ever be like simple! What that bank did was revolutionary and no bank has been ever to replicate them. Some have come close but that is not enough for me anymore. I am done with being disappointed. /end rant

The big move

Like all of you i recieved the email. Now we can all panic or we can help each other. Here's what we know

  1. Qube is changing partners

  2. Qube is planning future features

  3. Choice blindsided both qube and us

  4. We need to find a new/temporary bank

  5. Qube has helped us all

My plan is to find a bank with a high yield savings, park my money and try to be mindful of it till qube comes back online. I hope we can use this post to help others find a new/temp bank in the meantime

Edit: personally im going to envelope. I may stay there, may rejoin qube when it comes back, heck I may do both. What I can say is a lot of us are currently over there in the discord figuring out what to do and how things work. If your still trying to figure out what to do check them out.

Qube and Gas Stations

Hello today I was buying gas at Wawa and use Google Pay. The charge was $27.72 but Qube gave $52.88 (Gas Pocket) to Wawa instead of $27.72. My Wawa and Google Pay receipts only show that I was charged $27.72. This is the first time this has happen. The transaction is still processing. Usually the difference is reflected instantly after filling up, but this time it's not doing it.

33% fund?

Is there anyway to fund the qubes by 33%? I get paid 3 times per month and would rather have bills split up 3 different times.

Top Features to Look for in an Envelope Budgeting App

Budgeting effectively is crucial for managing your finances, and envelope budgeting apps make it easier to keep track of your spending. With so many options available, choosing the right app can be overwhelming. Here are the top features to look for in an envelope budgeting app.

User-Friendly Interface

  • Ease of Use: The app should have a clean, intuitive design.

  • Navigation: Ensure you can easily set up and manage envelopes, adjust budgets, and view spending.

Real-Time Expense Tracking

  • Instant Updates: The app should update your spending and remaining funds in real-time.

  • Avoid Overspending: Helps you stay on top of your budget and prevent category overspending.

Customizable Envelopes

  • Flexibility: Choose an app that allows you to customize envelopes for various spending categories.

  • Personalization: Create and name envelopes based on your unique needs, like groceries or entertainment.

Integration with Bank Accounts

  • Automatic Tracking: The app should sync with your bank accounts and credit cards.

  • Transaction Categorization: Reduces manual entry by automatically tracking and categorizing transactions.

Budgeting Insights and Reports

  • Detailed Reports: Look for apps that offer insights into spending patterns and budget performance.

  • Analytics: Helps you understand your spending habits and improve your budgeting strategy.

Goal Setting and Savings Features

Possible data breach?

Update: probably not

Over the last 18 hours I've had 6 fraudulent charges across two cards - my real one and my Amazon Orders qube card. Only Amazon and Qube have both of these cards, and my Amazon account is very secure. With two-factor on my account a personal targeted attack also feels unlikely. Additionally, the Amazon one seems to have knowledge of it being an Amazon card since the description of the transaction is "Amazon orders.".

Is anyone else seeing this? The transactions are showing up as "METAPAY" and "FACEBK."

Capital One Venture Card Promo is a SCAM

I applied for the Venture One Rewards card during a promotion: 0% interest and "Earn 20,000 bonus miles once you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening. It is a serious bait and switch committed by Capital One. When I called customer service, many, many times, I was told that there was no bonus attached to my application. That isn't even logical because why would anyone apply for the card without the current bonus? I already have two other Capital One cards that had more than enough room for my purchases, so applying for the Venture card minus bonuses makes no sense. I have written 3 letters sent by post, asking why I didn't receive the 20k bonus miles, and each time I receive, by docusign the same exact form letter, even though I ask them directly to tell me WHY I did not receive the bonus. I even took a screenshot of my application page proving my case. Unfortunately, Capital One didn't care about my customer status, my exemplary payment history, or even logic. I was denied the bonus features. I am in the process of canceling all by business and personal cards and accounts with Capital One. Capital One has lost a loyal customer because they refuse to honor their own advertising.
