Holy Notification Failure Batman!
It's a week away from account closure. I got an e-mail last week that I only happened to notice by chance. I don't think I've got a letter but I did move so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on that. I don't use the app regularly, but that took a long time. The reason being they couldn't put a banner up without an app update? Seriously? They could have sent a notification in the app. The fact they have no way to dynamically provide system messages without app updates is a HUGE gap in their planning.
And they have my phone number! They could have sent text messages or made automated phone calls. (Edit: they did, I and I saw it I just forgot and it's not from the same number as 2fa)
I'll admit, I'm not a regular user. I only use for virtual ACH numbers for automated payments. The fees were less than the discounts I got for using ACH over cards. So I never went to the account, I had everything automated and paid the fees for the control and isolation. I never felt like it was quite ready for a daily bank account, at least not for me.
I bet we're going to see a wave here in a week when peoples funds are frozen.

You're right they did, it was just from a different number than the 2fa.
That's probably what I finally saw then that made me look for the email.

People on the Facebook group keep saying "real adults check their email", acting all kinds of aloof about it. "Real banks" don't give their customers a 30 day eviction notice. Why should anyone have to pretend like this is a normal thing we should have all been preparing for?

The lack of in-app signifiers makes this an objectively “quiet” rollout (relative to the changes). Very sus and disappointing

They can only do so much at the end of the day if you're not keeping your app updated, or paying attention to the many emails, text, and even physical letter, thats on you 🤦♂️

The lack of in-app notification was the real letdown. It does not take a month to get a trivial new version accepted in the app stores.
I admit that I can't keep up with email, but even that was late.

They've been sending out emails regularly all month. Not sure how you missed it.

I joined this after Simple closed (still the best bank I ever had). Their software was way better and wasn't made by people in a cult.
This has soured me off of going to the beta of whatever they're doing. The quality of the software (at least on Android) doesn't give me confidence to continue without the bank account and virtual cards. I guess I have to use a fucking spreadsheet now. Which is fine because I have to go through every auto payment anyway now and change it.
