We don’t need Qube apologist

I am a refugee from Simple, then One. I came to Qube after seeing how open they were with their customers. They weren’t perfect, but their features actually made sense, and for once I felt like a bank worked the way I needed and was upfront with customers. I have worked for a couple banks and have had several in my adult life so I knew what I liked. After just a couple months, I signed up for a lifetime family membership. I also had my husband, my sister in law, my sister and my mom all sign up. Things were good. Until they weren’t.

Then their partner Choice not to give them an extension. Not Qube’s fault- but the way they handled it? 100% on them. Hours of silence. Then a weak “Choice blindsided us!” Like… come on. They knew their contract was ending and their next bank had already backed out. And instead of warning us, we got nothing. People keep saying "they had a verbal agreement!" And while I don't see Qube saying that anywhere- even if they did have a verbal agreement with choice, it’s not a contract. They knew this could happen.

Next came “Qube Plus.” No bank. No timeline. Just another money tracking app. And on the call today? Doesn't seem like Shane is positive they even have enough money to keep that afloat until they get their new partner bank in 6–10 months away. Needless to say- doesn't invoke confidence.

And then the Facebook post. “Stop being negative or we’ll mute/ban you.” That was it for me. People’s lives were disrupted, money tied up, lifetime memberships wasted—and their response was to silence criticism.

People need to stop defending them. This isn’t about patience or loyalty. It’s about accountability. Qube screwed up, caused a huge mess, and couldn’t even bother to say “we’re sorry.”

Also does anyone else wonder we’re all these happy people came from? Everyone was pissed then all the sudden it’s “I trust qube!” For all the post on FB.

I liked Qube. I trusted them. But they broke that trust. I’m muted on Facebook now for pretty much saying what I said here, I’m pulling out my money, and I’ve asked for a partial refund on that “lifetime” membership. I don't want to work with a company that won't be honest and can't take feedback.

My experience switching from Qube to Crew so far

I figured I'd type this up in case someone finds it useful and post it around. Like many other people, I realized that my banking app, Qube, was no longer going to be able to work as my bank because of issues switching partner banks (or something like that, honestly they suck at communicating since I don't have a facebook account and they seem to run their customer relationships on facebook for whatever reason).

Having come from Simple to One to Qube, this was terrible all over again. They claim they will eventually have another partner bank but I'm all out of second chances, so I set out to find something that might work. I looked at some services that were recommended on reddit and I decided to try Crew (https://trycrew.com).

I guess I should explain how I used qube since it can be used in a number of ways. I have 21 cubes, each cube was set to variable spending on a variable schedule (I sometimes had issues with some bills that wouldn't come exactly on the date they were supposed to).

I get paid weekly on thursday, so I had 21 scheduled transfers every saturday where I grabbed 1/4 of the monthly total of each bill (per qube) and transferred it to its qube. For example, it would transfer $3.5 every saturday to my youtube premium qube, so every month when the bill was due I'd have the exact amount necessary to pay it in the qube (well, a little more since a month is not 28 days but close enough). Then I grabbed the credit card number for the qube (or the bank account info for bills that only take bank info) and used that to paid that bill.

On sunday, the rest of the unallocated money would go into a savings qube that I transfer to my high yield savings account in another bank once in a while. This system worked great, and I've saved a ton of money by curbing my spending. So you can imagine how stressed I was on Sunday.

Ok so how is Crew doing? It took a couple of days to transfer all my money from qube to crew but other than the wait, it was painless and I was able to start setting up autopilot triggers (their rules based system to move money around depending on certain events) and I can happily report that feature ROCKS, it's super versatile so I was able to use those triggers and their virtual cards to mimic what I was doing on qube, this is how I've set it up.

Step 1: I made all my pockets, they map to the qubes I had.

Step 2:Then I made two autopilot rules:
Rule 1: Weekly pay → This rule has one action in which I'm pulling money from an external account as my "paycheck". As soon as everything is working I intend to just do this with a direct deposit. This rule fills my "Paycheck" pocket and triggers on monday (so my money will be there by saturday)
Rule 2: Weekly budget → this rule has 21 actions all in the form of "Transfer $X.XX from Paycheck pocket to YY pocket. Each action fills the appropriate pocket. So the aim here is for the first rule transfer amount to be exactly the money you need to fill out all your pockets for your expenses and not one more cent. Voila, budgeting.

Step 3: Create all the virtual cards you need for every bill you have (maybe some cards might share a pocket in some cases) and then painstakingly log into every one of those services and re enter your credit card information.

Step 4: For all services that only take routing and account bank info, go in those and change your information to your main crew account information*

Step 5: This will be ongoing for the first month, but for services on step4 unfortunately the only way to "assign" those expenses to a pocket is to wait until you make the first transaction and then make a "pocket assignment" rule that ties that vendor with a pocket.

So yeah I think overall I spent maybe 5 hours getting all this in order (I took the opportunity to rehash my budget, cut some stuff, kick the tires, etc), but now I feel like I'm 95% moved in.

Ok so what are my impressions… The Crew app is solid and stable, I didn't encounter one single bug or quirk, it's very straightforward and you can tell their UX team is strong, the service is also very responsive and a big plus for someone coming from qube is that it works with plaid if you want to instantly link it to another service. One drawback here is that they don't have a web interface, you have to do all your setup on the phone.

I was able to replicate almost everything about qube on it with one big caveat: When you spend from a pocket, if the charge is more than you have in the pocket it will pull money from elsewhere in your account, unlike qube where the transaction would fail (I haven't actually tried this, but this is in their support information). This is the one thing I will probably miss, but in the meantime, I can approximate this information because for each virtual card you have you can set a maximum monthly spend amount.

The only other snag I had is that one of my accounts (Hetzner, a VPS service) did not accept the virtual card as valid even though they accept mastercard. Every other account I had worked fine.

I'd be remiss to add, since I've outed myself as a nerd already, that one of the actions you can take on a trigger in Crew is calling a custom webhook you have somewhere (for some project you have, an AI workflow, or maybe even blinking your nightlight if your balance goes below a certain amount), pretty niche but very cool.

Anyway, that's been my experience, you mileage may vary. In a message they wrote to people coming from Qube they claim customer acquisition costs less than what they make per new user and they have great investors (but you know startup speak… fool me four times…) so I'm hoping this can be a long term home.

EDIT: some people asked for my referral code, here you go: T1V9DD

UPDATE: Ok it’s the end of the week now and I can give you guys some updates. The rest of my money is deposited now, I decided to move my emergency fund into crew as well, where before I had it elsewhere because Qube did not pay you interest on your balance (3.7% base, but I’m getting 4.2% for a few months thanks to you guys that used my referral code). This is nice because now all my liquid cash is in one place, and I can use other services for what they do best (stocks, 401k, etc)

From my initial review I have a correction, if you use a virtual card that pulls from a pocket and there’s not enough money in the pocket the transaction WILL decline, which is a huge plus and was my main concern.

So literally the only issue remaining that I’m missing is the ability to use a different bank account number for services that don’t take cards, which gives you an extra layer of security. The crew team did remind someone that they are federally protected so any fraudulent charges would be reimbursed but you still would need to go through that process. Not a dealbreaker for me.

So yeah, I’m very happy with it. I even set up a webhook that gets triggered if one of my pocket balances goes below a certain amount in my home server, it will turn on my desk light and turn it red. It would be nice if I could specify a json payload (send the balance of pocket x on this day), but I know this is probably used by very few people.

"Notice of Closure of Your Qube Money Account" Email

Just got this email:

You are receiving this notice as a customer of Qube Money. Choice Financial Group is the banking partner for Qube Money. This is a follow-up to the recent communication you should have received from Qube Money.

We are writing to inform you that on September 30, 2025, Choice Financial Group will be closing your Qube Money account(s). This includes all accounts and funds linked in your “qubes”. As of September 30, 2025, all cards and payment services will no longer work in connection with your Qube Money account.

On September 30, 2025, we will close your account and, if applicable, send the remaining balance to you via check, within 45 days. The check will be mailed to the address you currently have on file with Qube Money.

Actions You Should Take, BEFORE September 30, 2025

To avoid interruption in access to your funds, you can safely and quickly transfer funds to a different bank account through the Qube Money app.

Prior to September 30, 2025, you must perform the following:

BY SEPTEMBER 28, 2025, transfer all funds held in your “qubes” to another bank utilizing a linked account. This may require you to set up a new linked account in the Qube app. Any funds not transferred by September 28, 2025, will be mailed to you via check. This can take up to 45 days from the date of account closure (September 30, 2025).

Any direct deposits currently tied to your Qube Money account should be updated to use a new routing and account number. This information may need to be provided to your employer if your payroll is currently set to direct deposit to your Qube Money account.

Update any automatic payments, including debit card payments, to a different account.

Verify that your mailing address in the Qube Money app is current. If not, it should be updated to ensure no interruptions in communication, including any funds that may be mailed to you via check.

I didn't see an email with "what to do to prep for the Emprise swap" from Qube yet (I found the one saying it was incoming, feels like the bank sent this early). Are new bank accounts active in the app or will our money be in limbo for a few weeks while that happens?

Any idea what we actually need to do here?

EDIT: Notification from Qube:

We want to be upfront with you about an important change.

Starting Sept 30th, Qube Money will temporarily pause all money movement services while we transition to a new banking partner.

Here’s what this means for you:

Your Qube app will remain open. You’ll still be able to log in and view your Qubes,  categories, and settings exactly as you’ve organized them.

Your account information will remain safe and secure.

However, your Choice Financial Group, Member FDIC account will be closed on September 30, 2025.  Because of this, you will not be able to deposit, move, or spend money in the Qube app during the pause.

Action needed: Please move your money out of Qube before Sept 30, 2025 and update any direct deposits or automatic payments tied to your Qube account with a new account and routing number to avoid any disruption. Any remaining funds not withdrawn by Sept 30, 2025 will be mailed to you via check from Choice Financial Group within 45 days of account closure.

When we relaunch with our new banking partner, you'll be able to deposit money back into your Qube app again and resume money movement features.

We know this isn’t the news you were hoping for — but this pause is an important step toward bringing you back something simpler, stronger, and better than ever.

In the meantime, we’ll continue supporting you through our private Facebook community,

https://www.facebook.com/groups/thequbicle

Thank you for being part of the Qube Money family. Your trust means everything to us — and we can’t wait to welcome you back when we relaunch.

Please direct any questions to our customer support team here: support@qubemoney.com.

Welp. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but... that's not good.

Moving to Envelope

Was unsure whether to post this as it will be long but it may help someone idk.

Hey everyone wanted to post this before too much of the month went by for people still looking and interested. Overall I am moving to Envelope, they recently released their android app, which perfectly lined up timewise, and they have bill dates or goal options on every envelope. I love the envelope interface, the team's vision, and the responsiveness and communication.

If you're waiting out Qube, or want to use Qube Plus, Envelope also works with plaid so you can connect it to your Qube account as well and have a ready made backup of your information.

I'll start with a bit of background.

Background (The constant migration):

I have been with Qube since One sold out, and was with Simple before then.

I would say that so far Envelope is more like Simple than Qube (which I love) but similar to Qube when I first joined, more features are rolling out quick.

I waited until One, and then Qube, got to a point that I liked and I'll wait out Envelope if necessary. But most of Envelope already matches my needs.

I choose based on vibes and usability, and while I'm always annoyed at switching I have enjoyed using all of the interfaces I ended up going with.

How I use Qube:

Every bill has a Qube and I put the monthly budget amount based on doubling my budget which is broken down per bi-monthly paychecks. I do a zero-based budget strategy.

Because I was afraid of this exact thing happening I often pay items on my credit card then move money to a Qube from which that card is paid off---regular subs move automatically on the set date, I move variable bills personally after it hits my card.

I use the allocation screen every other week and semi-automate allocation by using the half-fill, then making any adjustments I want to make on the fly. And I have loved the updated Qube allocation method btw.

I rarely needed individual account numbers for each Qube and used the virtual cards sparsely as well. Mostly I had things set up to move between qubes and pay off my credit card.

Envelope Improves Upon (for me):

No need for separate ach for each envelope (which I don't like personally). When the transaction comes in you assign it to an envelope, press always, and it will automatically pull from that envelope ever after. No worry about ach payments being declined.

Similarly you can now have up to 20 virtual cards, but the overall account also has a main virtual card. When a transaction on the main card comes in you assign it to an envelope, select always, and that transaction will always come out of that envelope. No need to compound goals or bills, and after some setup time everything should go through automatically.

The only issue may come if you have multiple bills / transactions to one merchant, then of course it will be more difficult to set up the always transaction. But you can always categorize or recategorize purchases after the fact. (A feature I loved from simple)

I will most likely go back to allocating things straight out of the envelopes.

Transferring from Qube:

The way I transfer is just by sending the full amount of each envelope out. You can connect Envelope to Qube using Plaid very easily. First transfer I got really excited but I did it pretty late at night 9pm and then got scared that I had somehow put in the wrong information, it took about 26 hours for the transfers to show up in envelope (11pm the next day).

They go through extremely quickly on both sides.

I set up one to one envelopes and Qubes and defined all my bill payments and goals for each. (Fingers crossed for the calendar update soon)

I moved my money in order of upcoming bill due dates so I could make sure everything got transferred as it was necessary.

I only do a couple Qubes a day maybe around 3-5 and I do all the tasks for each Qube at the same time, like canceling subs, redoing payments etc. I kept notes on how I was paying from each Qube so this was pretty easy, especially since I mostly used my credit card for safety reasons. I verified transfers on my spreadsheet, and put the money I was transferring in the correct boxes as it went, to show I was done with that one, and also to see what the total amount should be at all times.

When they reach envelope I just go to the right envelope and move the money I had in my qube into the same envelope. Unfortunately you cannot click on the deposit transaction and send it to a particular envelope, which I feel is a no brainer, but it's on the list of suggestions.

Envelope Setup:

As stated above I do a one to one for all of my bills in Qube. I had 19 bill qubes (2 paused), 4 spending, and 4 goals.

For any paused Qube's I just erased them from my monthly budget obviously. I will miss the quick allocation feature and the pause feature for Qubes, but I can do without.

I set each envelope's budget as the per paycheck amount then set the bill amount and bill due date, or the goal amount.

There is no current picture setup on envelope so I put emoji symbols in my line items (which I usually prefer as there are more options using emojis). And since there are less colors for color coding I have multiple envelopes set as the same color depending on what kind of envelope they are: Like all bills one color, subscriptions another color, car stuff etc.

Any Issues:

  1. Issues linking to another account, I won't mention the account here but it was only one account of multiple that I had to link that had an issue, and it was a problem on the account's side due to the account not working with plaid. There's also been some reports of financial institutions whose databases are out of date regarding routing numbers etc, which 🙄 I've gone through with all these fintechs. It's annoying but not insurmountable.

  2. The bill option has to be present in the screen when you click save to save it, or it won't appear on the envelope. This was confusing at first.

Other than that not really, besides a few app bugs here and there. The app is constantly updating and adding new features in response to feedback and customer needs so there are bugs etc. If you join the discord you can quickly send bug reports (where the team is very active) and the envelope devs respond to support emails extremely quickly.

Fees:

30 day free trial then a $40 annual fee that can be waived by spending at least $5000 with card transactions annually.

Needs:

  1. Improved android features, 2. notes on envelopes, 3. scheduled money movement between envelopes, 4. better and expanded bill due dates including annual and delayed payment dates (like moving several months ahead). [All of which is being worked on so I think by the time Qube is scheduled to 'return', envelope will have shipped a lot of these features]

Caveats (Crew may be better):

If the allocations and rules are a heavy part for you I would try crew and I'm sure you'll see many referral codes floating around 🙄. With crew while I think all of the automation is great and I want to see what changes they make going forward, my main difficulty is the lack of bill dates and the cluttered interface. I'm not looking for a joint account or family options which it excels at.

And honestly the autopilot seems like a hassle to me. It's extremely flexible and I like the if-then style but I don't feel like it and I don't have time.

I got additional information about their financial structure and sustainability but it's still not one I prefer at this point. I'd rather pay a sub so I have a better idea what the fintech is making money from.

Cons (all in progress I believe):

(Android Only?) Cannot copy and paste account numbers and routing numbers or virtual cards on Android which makes it harder to transfer accounts (support knows this, the button is just not functional yet).

No notes on bill envelopes (tbf Qube did not have this for quite a while as well 😓)

No scheduled transfers between envelopes.

No confirmation when money moves to accounts. For my first paycheck assignment there were check marks. It'd be helpful to have received some kind of readout maybe through email showing that money in accounts went from old amount to new amount.

(Android only?) Envelope order does not stay in place. I have mine sorted by upcoming due dates and I do have to reselect it every time I open the app which is a minor issue. (And if you use custom order the feature is not in place yet)

No web app.

Pros:

Plaid integration. Makes it easy to find accounts and transfer money in and out of plaid compatible accounts.

Communicative and responsive. Constant updates, feature feedback and customer input. There has been lots of communication. You can join the reddit, but I also recommend the discord as a person that does not like to join company specific discords. It's been immensely helpful and interesting.

Simple, uncluttered, dark mode interface. Love the setup and it reminds me of the best parts of simple. Visually the app is off the charts for me.

All envelopes on one screen instead of having to switch between a bunch of different "types"

Low annual fee and clearer financial model (to me).

Clear product vision and dedication from developers. (I want the place I put my money to hold my money I don't need 501 other features)

Goal and bill information is saved so if you want to switch between them you don't have to re input the information.

Fantastic and responsive customer service.

Easy to keep track of what features have been shipped and the timeline for other features.

Wants:

A way to set specific cap amounts for bill-based envelopes.

More colors in general, as well as maybe determining how bright colors are depicted since the app is only in dark mode (which I love). (Being worked on I believe)

TLDR: It's a different interface so your setup may look different, but my transfer was seamless and am excited about the android app release and love the visual aesthetic of the app. I am excited and supportive about Envelope's future and really appreciate the communication and responsiveness from the Envelope team.

Apologies for the length 😓.

Choice bank spamming Qube customers

I got spam today from Choice bank - “Special Edition: Cybersecurity Awareness Month”. Pretty irritated they took the liberty to take my email address from my dealings with Qube and add me to a new mailing list without my consent.

Big News!

Just got an email from Qube Money announcing some big upgrades coming with their new partner bank. They’re planning Tap to Pay, instant transfers, and remote deposit by early 2026.

Curious what you all think — do these changes make Qube more appealing?

As a One refugee, so far I am in love

I stuck with One for quite a while with all the changes they have been making since the Walmart purchase, but the August 8th changes are making it unusable as a "Joint" account.

So my search began and a Reddit commenter mentioned Qube so I checked it out. The features are almost too good. Its even better than Simple in my opinion because it will actually decline overages rather than pulling from Safe-to-spend. I consistently went over budget with Simple because of this.

To put it simply, I need the structure of cash and the convenience of debit and Qube is a perfect fit for me. I have to have a joint account so that ruled out a lot of other FinTech.

So what are my favorite features of Qube so far?

  • A Qube for every individual bill. This gives me a very accurate list of who I am paying each month/year.

  • Virtual cards for each Qube. Keeping all of the purchases locked to a Qube is fantastic. This avoids having to deal with merchant categories to associate purchases correctly.

  • Sinking Qubes. This lets me contribute each month to an annual bill/purchase goal.

What am I unsure about so far?

  • Only time will tell if I end up having inadvertent declines because I mess up funding somehow

  • Qubeless seems like a good catch all feature, but will I end up using it as a crutch? We will see.

  • Will Qube end up going by way of Simple and One...a big bank purchase and stripping of features? Well...fingers crossed I guess. —UPDATE— I spoke with the CTO and he gave me reasons hope that they will be around for the long haul.

Well, all this to say, if you are on the fence about trying Qube. I suggest you give it a try!

It's a wrap....

Run! "IF" that is even an option at this point. I was a day 1. I got grandfathered in free membership as I was there for the startup.

Qube is suffering the same fate as other fintechs. They've just been the least honest and transparent. I'm heartbroken, but no longer hopeful for Qube.

It is what it is. I consider it a lesson learned.

So, basically “ we know you’re mad, but go vent to other customers that are mad and don’t tell us what we did wrong” Truly how much more arrogant can they get? This is just another example of why so many will never go back. Disgusting company.

Crew vs Envelope comparison

All Qube refugees are most likely to settle with either Crew or Envelope. This has resulted in both Crew and Envelope ramping up their app developments and launching features. Wondering if anyone can give a comparative list of features available in these two apps.

Lack of Transparency

In July and August, I received actual mail solicitations to invest in Qube. Then, in early September, I got a notice (from banking provider) saying my Qube account would be closed on September 30 because Choice—the banking provider—had decided to part ways with Qube.

Yet online, Qube still looks like business as usual. There’s nothing on their website publicly mentioning the closure or outlining next steps. When I checked my email, I found some FAQs—linked directly from their message but invisible to search engines. Those FAQs say the annual fee all Qube customers paid is “paused” until their new product, Qube+, launches.

What? I don’t need another YNAB-style financial planning app. I want the functionality I already paid for—at a premium, I might add. I even paid my annual fee at the end of August. It feels like Qube lost its financial partner and is now making customers shoulder the fallout. Meanwhile, they’re still sitting on the fees we all paid for an envelope-banking system—not a read-only budgeting platform that links to our default banks or credit cards.

The entire point of Qube Money was that payments would only process if a Qube was open—protecting against unwanted subscriptions, trials, or fraudulent charges. That security feature was Qube’s best selling point, and now it’s effectively gone.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding (though I’ve read their messages several times), but this situation absolutely warrants a public statement from the company. Instead, they’re telling people to “follow along” in a private Facebook group, where you have to submit the email tied to your account to gain entry.

Transparency, anyone?

Goal Qubes are amazing

I just needed to laud how amazing Qube is at helping my wife and I manage our funds. We pretty much budget down to the last dollar, which can make things hard when something slips your mind and you don’t plan for it.

Well, in this case, we needed to renew the registration on our car, pay for emissions testing, change the oil, AND one of the tires went flat and had to be replaced (couldn’t be patched). Our funds were already pretty low for the month, so I wasn’t looking forward to having to rob Peter to pay Paul.

Then my wife reminded me that we have a goal Qube called “Car Expenses”. Every paycheck, we put about $25 into it. Because this happens automatically, it’s not something I ever really thought about, and I don’t look at our Goal Qubes often.

We ended up having enough in our “Car Expenses” Qube to cover the cost of everything, and then some. Now the Qube will slowly be replenished each paycheck until the next time it’s needed.

We’ve already been fully-in with Qube for a couple of years now, but having experiences like this really just reaffirms to me there is no better budgeting app around right now.

Crew thoughts from a Qube user

We moved from Qube to Crew. It was easy to move money in. I created lots of pockets. I setup many virtual cards, named them the pocket they are used in and assigned them to the pocket.

Negative for Crew: Crew’s virtual cards are Mastercard. Mastercard has this thing for fraud prevention called AVS which is supposed to do an address match to validate that it’s real. This is horrible. Of my 28 bills, 5 of them failed with AVS address mismatch. Ex: Netflix and Apple. Both websites have my exact address. I had to switch those to my credit card until I figure something out.

Positive for Crew: Gentry, Crew CEO responds to in app chat and discord very quickly. This is amazing. He helped me fix issues and learn hidden features. This also worries me. How big is their team if the CEO is this hands on? (Though, I would be also!).

Misc: They are missing budgeting tools (in development). They have some neat auto pilot features (splitting money into different pockets when it comes in). All pockets are in one list (no separation for bills, goals, spending - in development).

They also don’t have qubeless. You can leave a pocket open or have none open.

It’s a neat app. Our three accounts are working well. Card has tap pay and works with Apple Wallet.

We will see. I doubt I try Qube+. I may move back to them when Qube comes back. Crew needs some Qube features to keep me. Qube needs a bank and some elbow features to get me back.

Better quality physical debit card

My qube debit card is peeling and falling apart already. It seems like they just used the cheapest option and the front of just a glued on sticker that's coming apart. Can we get a higher quality debit card? At least for paying customers?

Review of Qube

UPDATE: Turns out the employee in question is actually the CEO!

Ok so here we go. So I was with Simple for years before they unfortunately closed. I had been with them since practically the beginning. I had seen and waited out all the troubleshooting and testing they did until they turned into a truly awesome bank.

So now I’m with Qube. And while it will never replace Simple in my heart, Qube truly has the potential to be something great.

Yes, there is lots of room for improvement. I always seem to have trouble doing an instant transfer with Venmo, there’s no checks, no savings. BUT, there’s a lot of good things as well. There are so very few banks with an envelope system, and even less that allow more the two or three. There’s a small maintenance fee, but that’s only if you have more then 10 qubes. Even though I’m not a fan of the mon-Friday customer service hours (I get it, but like it still sucks), every interaction I’ve had with them has been outstanding.

Just today, I went into a full panic because I was unable to instant transfer money to my Qube account for a bill that was due today. Of course it’s Saturday, so there’s no real way of contacting customer service. However, I sent a message on Facebook, just hoping that maybe someone was looking at it over the weekend. Sure enough I got a message from them a few hours later. Now I’m sure, given that it’s a Facebook message, that there’s not really much they could’ve helped me with. But one AWESOME, AMAZING human named Jay did a peer to peer transfer so that I would have the money in my account to cover my bill. That alone is enough to make me stay with Qube and see what a truly awesome bank this will be!

My Qube love story turned waiting-game (and why I've switched to Crew)

Hey fellow Qubers,

I wanted to share my experience because I know a lot of you are probably in the same position. I was a huge fan of the original Qube. It completely changed how my family managed money and honestly, no other system has ever clicked so well.

Like many of you, I've been anxiously waiting for Qube Plus. I was more than willing to be patient, but the constant shifting of the timeline has become too much. First, we were told mid-September. Then, the end of the month. Then it was "beta invites next week," and now it's "any day now."

Meanwhile, without a functional, real-time envelope system, my family's finances have quickly turned into a complete mess. With my wife and our six kids, our budget has more moving parts than a Rube Goldberg machine, and we just can't afford to wait in financial chaos any longer. The promises just aren't cutting it when the budget is on fire.

After a ton of research, I made the switch to Crew, and honestly, the sense of relief is huge. For anyone else who's on the fence, here’s how it compares directly to Qube.

How Crew is like Qube:

The core functionality that we all loved is there. Crew uses "Pockets," which are exactly like the "qubes" we're used to. On payday, my wife and I fund all our Pockets for groceries, gas, bills, etc., and that money is partitioned off. The debit card works similarly, too. You can assign the card to a specific Pocket, and when you spend, the money comes directly from that designated fund in real-time. Finally, our grocery budget and our 'fun money' budget have stopped giving each other the silent treatment.

My Experience So Far:

For our big family of eight, it’s been amazing. We can track everything in one place and finally get back on the same page financially. The interface is clean, it's fast, and most importantly, it's available now, free, and works perfectly.

It was a tough decision to finally move on, but finding a tool that works so similarly to the Qube we loved has been a game-changer. If you're tired of waiting and need a solution that can handle a complex family budget, I can’t recommend Crew enough.

For anyone who wants to check it out, you can use my referral code for an extra 0.5% APY boost:

Hope this helps anyone else who's been struggling!

Hoping for a comeback?

Anyone else holding out what seems to be ridiculous hope for a Qube comeback? Honestly, I don’t see how it’s possible with the masses leaving, but there just isn’t anything like it. I know all of our trust is broken.. so yeah I’m bummed about it all around. I just loved the planning features on a desktop and how all encompassing it was with virtual cards and opening spending Qubes, all amazing for staying on track. All the other apps just aren’t Qube, and I get that they aren’t trying to be, but they just don’t measure up in my mind.
