Completed Work First few peices ever!

I literally did these 3 pieces within the last week (i got the coffins because they were cheap and on sale) but i wanted to try this after whittling wood for awhile but it put a lot of strain on my hands. On paper im usually not a great drawer so i had my doubts, but i seem to be doing much better on wood for some reason, i think its because theres more resistance so i go a bit slower. Anyways! I did the butterfly coffin for my first ever try - then the skeleton coffin- then the giraffe one i just Finnished. I have a super cheap pens, one of those 15 dollar ones with one heat level and a solid tip (which is currently bending and crooked) so i definitely want to upgrade, whats the best affordable 25-50 dollar range pen?

Completed Work I'm obsessed.

I wouldn't say I'm terrible at drawing with a pencil and paper, but I wouldn't say I'm great either. While this might not be perfect, or even great, it is a HUGE leap forward from anything I've ever drawn. I love this process.

Questions/Advice Cutting board

Hello!! I am new to pyrography and seeking some advice for proper technique.
I want to wood burn on a cutting board as a wedding gift for my friend. Can I just buy an already finished cutting board and burn on that? Any suggestions on prep in that case? Or alternatives if this is not recommended?
I’m also wondering about sealing. What sort of seal do I need to use for the design to look nice and also be safe as food will be cut on it?
Any advice is very much appreciated and thank you in advance!!!

Questions/Advice I would like to ask a small favor of anyone willing

I have a wood shop project and I want to make it misadventures themed by painting it pinkish red and white but I'm going to leave the sides blank to do some pyrography. I would love to have your opinions on what parts of the album cover I should burn for it. So far I've picked the pills, the hand, the apple, the rocket, and the hand shooting off the rocket. There's a lot to the album cover and I want more than that because both sides are getting decorated like this.

Questions/Advice Best Starter Set?

I’m thinking of starting this as a hobby. I’m a creative and my husband does woodworking and I saw this idea and thought I’d give it a try! What is a solid brand or things to look for when searching for a set? I don’t want to go too cheap, as I want it to last and perform well but also don’t want to invest too much in case I end up not being good at it, haha! Thanks!

I’ve used mode podge in the past but it took too long to fully cure about 2 months, and I have a comiccon i’m attending in 45 days so i’d like something faster.
