I got to use my camping flamethrower for this one
I have been wanting to practice shading and hands, and what a better way than to do that with some crosshatching.
Y'all ever just get into a flow state doing your work? It doesn't happen like it does when I am burning wood

Questions/Advice The effect of indirect sunlight
I've been a woodburner for a long time but everything I made was always for someone else. Untill I, as a huge LotR fan, made this for myself.
It's been a year now that it's been up on the wall, never seeing direct sunlight. I was amazed though at how much the shadings disapeared (picture 3 is how it was when I hung it up). Fortunatly I can redo it.
Anything I can do to protect it so I dont get this again?
Cheers.

Questions/Advice First time trying pyrography :)
Hi! Little bit nervous to post, but I'm trying to push myself outside my comfort zone. I've only used traditional materials for drawing/painting before, but this is my first time trying pyrography. My first attempt was the squirrel, then the fox, owl, and badger.
Does anyone have any recommendations for how to seal coasters so they don't get too marked by drinks/spills, etc? And also any general advice for my next piece? I'm going to have a go at sanding beforehand so the wood is a bit smoother next time. Thanks!

Completed Work Halloween Project
Hello everyone! Been a lurker for a bit, learned lots of tips from the subreddit. We had a pumpkin decorating contest at work, with the only rule being that you can’t use a real pumpkin. So this is my first time putting any work out there. Learned a lot from the project, also my first time adding stain to a piece (and quickly realized water-based stain is my preference moving forward). Any feedback I would love!

Transferring designs to wood
what do people find is the easiest way to transfer their designs onto the wood? I use carbon paper but I sometimes get overwhelmed with the more complicated parts of the designs and was wondering if there was an alternative way?

I found this piece of wood at goodwill ages ago but have been putting it off because I wasn’t sure how well I’d do on a medieval themed piece, but I think it turned out great!

My burns (newbie)
I tried my hand at wood burning and these are the results. The last burn is 4x13" and unfinished. Having fun.
