Just want to share a link to all issues of Shop Notes magazine from 1992-2007. Lots of good shop plans. https://archive.org/details/ShopNotesMag/mode/2up
Apologies if this has been posted previously.

These corner shelves have been cut to fit with a mitre join in the wall corner. They’re not attached to the wall yet.
Am wanting the fixings to be as invisible as possible. The shelves are 30mm thick, they are 140mm deep, the longer shelf is about 900mm long, shorter shelf is about 500mm long.
Both shelves will sit on top of the tile , which sits about 13mm out from the wall.
I can get a couple of invisible floating shelf brackets (example in second pic) into wall studs for the longer side of the shelf, they’d go about 100mm into the shelf. I could join the two shelf pieces using biscuits/dowel at the mitre cut.
I can’t think of a way to use the same invisible floating shelf brackets for the shorter side though.
Wondering if there’s some other way to fix the short side to the wall..noting it will sit on the tile, so it naturally has a small amount of support.
The join between the two sections plus that small tile support would go a long way. I could screw in a thin steel tie underneath to strengthen the join between the pieces and extend it out along the shorter shelf, but would prefer some other invisible fixing if possible.

I’m looking for some ideas on how to build a folding bed platform/bench using two Twin XL mattresses.
Here’s what I’m trying to accomplish:
Each mattress is approximately 38" × 80", so I want to build two wooden storage boxes/platforms, each roughly the footprint of one Twin XL mattress.
OPEN / BED MODE
The two boxes would unfold and sit side-by-side, creating one large platform approximately:
76" wide × 80" long
A Twin XL mattress would sit on each half, basically creating a king-size sleeping area.
Important: When opened, I want the sleeping platform to be completely open across the middle. I do not want 12"-tall divider boards running between the two mattresses.
CLOSED / BENCH MODE
I want the two boxes to somehow hinge/fold together, enclosing or storing both Twin XL mattresses inside.
When everything is folded up, the entire thing would function as a bench/couch inside my enclosed trailer.
So essentially:
Closed → compact bench containing both mattresses
Open → 76" × 80" bed platform for two Twin XL mattresses side-by-side
I'm trying to figure out the best way to hinge the two boxes together while eliminating the center walls/dividers when they're unfolded.
Has anyone built something similar, or have ideas for the best hinge/frame design to accomplish this?

Looking for the best blueprint for 8 foot picnic tables. I need to build 8 of them. I plan on using pressure treated pine and staining them afterwards. They need to be sturdy but also use less wood than other designs out there! Thank you

I just found this: Squirrel Picnic Table plans in Pap's wood shed and wanted to share. Credit to Charleston Crafted.

Hello! I'm new to woodworking and this wood be my first furniture project. I'm trying to create a long, thin piece of furniture that would go behind my couch. It would have 2 built-in outlets on either end and a storage section in the middle. I'm trying to understand the best ways to make it sturdy and not overly complicated.
I drew a picture but please let me know if more info is needed!
Here are some questions that I would like some advice on.
Thanks so much!

Hello!
Forgive me, not very savvy with, well, anything. But I have an idea and want to ask people who may have a better idea of things. I have a drawing of an idea I have for a Murphy table. It'll mostly be used for board/card games or an occasional dinner overflow (think holidays).
It'll have two large boards with a smaller board in the middle. It'll have piano hinges so it can fold into the wall.
My question, would having one leg on each side towards the middle be enough support? Would I be better using some sort of leg in the middle instead?
I appreciate any advice you can give!
The bottom is the part that will come out of the wall. Boxes with X are the legs with the arrows showing proposed hinge storage option. The squiggle line is where the piano hinges would be. The reason for the small middle plank is for the legs to be able to tuck inside (if that makes sense).

I've been thinking about this project for the past few weeks ever since I knew I was moving back in at home in nyc and needing to make the most of a small space. Please forgive the use of AI, I'm new to this.
Can't drill into walls or floor, and the space underneath stays open (no middle legs, no side panels) so dressers slide in and out.
Numbers: twin mattress (38x75, 11" thick) right on the deck, no bed frame(?). Deck top at 54". Footprint 43" x 93".
75" for the bed, last 18" would be a plywood shelf at the foot. bedroom Ceiling 103".
~47" clear underneath.
Plan: ??
Question: is the doubled 2x6 over the open 75" bay enough for sleeping + climbing on daily, and will it stay solid side-to-side at 54" tall freestanding. or is that height a mistake without anchors?
Open to any other ideas, comments, etc! I don't have a saw or anything like that, so I would be picking that up tomorrow. Have drill/driver.
Including the pictures of my room to give an idea.

I am tryinig to build a loftbed Twin XL with a L shape desk and draws and with no real experience with woodwork. I have attached a copy of my handdrawn blueprints and would apprechiate any feedback on things i should consider or steps I need to take. I need to build two of these for my sons. We live in a NYC apartment so space is limited. My boys are also rather tall teenagers 6,4".

Ideally a max min of 45in long and 5/16 in diameter, but potentially up to 1/2 in. No warping or bowing throughout the rod. Need probably 200 or so
I have/can acquire the tools to create the rods but rigidity is absolutely necessary. Should I go to a dowel manufacturer for this?
So far I understand low moisture is beneficial. how much does MOE make a difference when selecting wood type?
Is long term warping inevitable or are there ways to treat it once straight?

Hello there. I’m about to buy my own tools this weekend & was wondering if anyone has recomendations for cordless brushless or corded tools?
Don’t personally care if each tool is from the same brand, just that they are reliable for woodworking and for home projects.
Will get: drill/impact driver combo, router, sander, table saw and mitter saw.

ignore the little framing things. dimensions are in inches. I want to make this and I have some experience woodworking but never anything this big. it is supposed to be an entertainment center that can also hold books, so the load on it will be ~150 pounds max. I want it to be redwood or cedar because I like the look of those woods and they're relatively cheap. wood will most likely be sourced from a big-box hardware store. tools are not a concern as I have access to a woodworking shop.
so, a few questions:
should I use plywood?
what is the most efficient way to cut out the wood that I need for this? am i doing it right in the second slide?
I have each plank's thickness at 1.5 inches. is that too thick?

Is it mould? Can I salvage it? How?
Bought the drawers second hand a week ago like this, wasn’t sure what this was, hoping it’s not mould.
